When I booked I genuinely thought I wouldn't mind the construction noise and hassle. We are staying here and it's starting before 7am and is going on until almost 8pm! I've been to the front desk to complain and have only been offered a worse room to move to (apparently only one other room is available). I'm really disappointed as we've found all the other customer service at Disney to be exemplary.

The staff at the front desk didn't even apologise. Im pretty easy going but it is ridiculous. I really wanted to stay here, but please do book somewhere else unless you like very early wakeup calls!

What exactly are they supposed to do? It's not like they were hiding the fact that construction was going on.

It’s probably tolerated currently due to the summer heat in Florida .
I would be way more considerate towards the individuals that are working in that heat everyday . I’m surprised they aren’t working in the middle of the night to get the job done.

I was at GF in July where there is construction on the main building outside we could see the Poly tower from parts of the resort grounds. From the times you posted seems to be the times the crews start and stop or at least that is what when noticed the most noise. Although we were awake and heard the noise when going to get breakfast in the morning.
While it might take a lot of you.... I would speak with the front desk nicely and ask to be moved as while there may not be a different location today there are always people checking in and out so maybe tomorrow? I am sure they are swamped with guests asking nicely and not for X location at check in and before which plays a part on the CM's mood as well. You may also ask how much an upgrade to a water view is if that is available where you should hear no noise or a different resort? Does not mean you have to say yes but it shows some flexibility on your part and they may surprise you with options.
Would also help if you report the name of the building and room view for others although it is fairly well known which buildings may have view of and or notice noise....

Move to a different hotel.

Disney needs to start DRAMATICALLY discounting resorts impacted by construction projects. It's absolutely insane to me that they charge what they do while lying about the times the nosie will be heard and charging guests rack rates. Same thing happened to us at Beach Club. They were drilling and hammering at 7:30am when they said it wouldn't start until 9am.

As @Anthony1971 suggested return to the Front Desk and ask to speak to the "On Duty" manager about switching rooms at the Poly or moving to a room at the Contemporary or the GF.

I cannot emphasize this enough, always speak with a manager. The CMs have no authority what so ever. I had a few times where a CM told me that nothing can be done about my issue, and then after talking to a manager, it's amazing what actually CAN be done.
Definitely do not just settle for the noise just because they told you there will be construction, especially since it is not at appropriate hours. They had absolutely no issues taking your $$.

Definitely talk to the manager on duty at Front Desk and ask them to move you to another close to parks Deluxe resort like Contemporary, Beach Club, or Yacht Club. I left GF out b/c of construction there.

Maybe a dumb question but does anyone know when the construction is due to finish? We have a stay planned for the beginning of February

This was my view last month. It can always be worse! But seriously escalate it and talk to someone higher up to at least get a resort cresit. They gave me a little something for this view. FWIW I still had an amazing time and love the resort but I am also super interested in construction so for me it was almost exciting to watch the construction happen in real time.

If you look on the Disney website, there is a cash room available on the DVC side - Deluxe Room Stand View- for the next week beginning tomorrow. I just now looked. I would pull that up, go to the front desk, ask to speak to the manager,
show them that and ask, very nicely, to be moved.

Good luck!🌺

We had lunch at the Poly this month and it didn't seem anything like what has gone on at the Grand. We usually stay at the Grand but moved ourselves to the Boardwalk because of the GF construction. With our AP discount the rooms per night were considerably less then what the Poly or GF would have cost and other then the walls on the Boardwalk where they are doing the bakery there was no construction.

We stopped by both the Poly and the GF on the Friday and the Poly didn't seem out of the ordinary. The noise was unbelievable at the GF with some sort of screeching saws on the outside of the main building and everything echoed on the inside lobby.

We went back on the Sunday and ate lunch at the Poly, but the lobby was too packed to be able to get a drink and sit, likely because of the extreme heat warning that were happening when were were there, so we moved on to the GF again just to see and we found a little spot beside the stairs where we enjoyed a drink from the bar we brought inside. There was no construction since it was Sunday and there was no echoing at all so it was relaxing.

I do know we made the right call to stay BWI though.

I imagine if construction noise is waking you up that would be frustrating wherever you are.

I honestly think they don't apologize because then that admits some type of fault/guilt. A long time ago I worked in customer service for a large chain corporation and we were told to not say "I"m sorry" all the time, but to use other phrases to express that you cared, like "I understand" or "what can we do to help you".

They send everybody emails warning of the construction although I think people who don't follow sites like this would have no idea what they were walking into at least at the GF the last two months. We stayed there in June and it was fine.

The thing is all those other guests are staying and dealing with it too. If they do something for one person other than offering another available room, it could/would mean having to do it for all. They aren't going to offer discounts beyond what they have to, to fill the rooms and based on what I saw the resort was packed.

OP--I hope you saw this post. I completely agree with @DLgal.

If they can't find a room for you in a quiet location at the Poly (is there one right now?) then ask to move to another comparable resort. They should be able to do this for you. And, as others have said, you should speak to a manager.

Please let us know what happens.

Start after 7am? And finish at 5pm? Honestly no issue with the noise during the day but the insane hours it's been happening.
It’s very wrong that they lied about hours on the website. Website says noise won’t start until 9am :(

Thank you for the warning to the DIS community. Sad the CMs and management could not care less but that says management has told them to ignore all complaints regarding it. Personally I’d leave a Trip Advisor review advising people of the real construction noise hours and I would write general Disney Guest Services. Listing the starting hour literally baits people into booking that hotel when they otherwise might avoid it due to the construction, false advertising at its worst.

Your post made me laugh a bit. We got a room a couple years ago, and the CM apologized because it was close to the road (at BC) and a lot of construction trucks were going by throughout the day (construction at YC, I believe). We had a 2 1/2 year old with us who spent as much time as possible on the balcony watching the trucks and buses go by! He loved it - perhaps even more than the parks!! Some peoples' lemons are lemonade for others!
