Disappointed in seven dwarfs mine ride!

Disney hyped and IS hoping this as we speak. I have the commercial for this ride at least 10 times since Saturday while watching Hulu. People will actually plan trips because Disney said to come see it.

Again, I call that advertising. In response to your last sentence: yeah, of course they will. Is that not the point of every commercial we've ever seen?

I consider something "hype" if something is made out to be more than it is. I do not consider repeat showings of a (relatively) realistic commercial hype. I call that advertising. Reasonable people can disagree.

would a 15 yo girl like this or is she to old? she's not a huge fan of most of the stuff in Fantasyland

When we were there last summer I mentioned to my dd that it would be open when we would be there next trip and she said "I don't need to ride it there are enough other coasters here". To be fair I have to admit she is a thrill ride lover but she does love WDW. I think its the fact that she does not resonate with the Snow White story at all, she thinks its for old people like me
I don't think anyone is too old, but from the videos I've seen of the ride, it wouldn't be a big deal to me or my dd if we skipped it. Just play it by ear, you never know what will happen when she gets there. :goodvibes

I'm sure I'll love the 7DMT. However, my preference would have been to add a headliner to EPCOT or something family friendly to WS.

MK didn't need a draw or more ride capacity while EPCOT and HS certainly do.

I tend to agree - what I'd most like to see at MK is more open space to relieve the traffic congestion!

I am puzzled by the "nothing is ever good enough" mentality that seems to take over every project. Not every ride has to "blow it out of the park". We loved the new ride, and like most rides, enjoyed the 2nd ride even more than the first. Can't wait to try it again, and am sure it will become a classic in its own right. The cars were innovative, the interior scene was terrific, sure I will find something new every time, and the interactive part of the queue were imaginative and fun. I am happy. (other dwarfs not withstanding.)

And how long has it been since Disney blew one out of the park? Almost 10 years now (Everest which was so so out of the park). Disney is so lucky that the sheeple flock to their defense on their shortfalls. Keep up the great work folks!!!!!!!!!!

One could reasonably argue Toy Story Mania has been pretty successful.

there was years of hype about this short ride. it is disappointing for all of the hubaloo about it and time it took to open.

People keep repeating this misconception. It seemed to take longer than it should because Disney started from scratch with Mine Train, after announcing NFL. The public said that the plans were two "princess-centric", so Disney scrambled to add one more ride. They had to start with the design phase, and from there to actual opening, three years is not excessive.

Guess I'm a Sheeple then, because there is very little at Disney that I consider not blown out of the park. I Love love love Everest, doesn't make mine train a bad ride!

Baaa.:goodvibes

As for a ride with the same vehicles:

http://rcdb.com/1870.htm

Granted, it was an engineering failure, but it was tried, MANY years ago.

The 3 Italian Job Stunt Coasters that were built were initially touted as having movement where the cars could fishtale going around corners. Again, it never happened.

Disney was the first to successfully make a ride with this sort of car. I'd love to know how much R&D money went into it, because it clearly seems to add nothing to the ride experience to the average rider.

Everest was a home run WITH a moving Yeti, and all the special effects. Now, with Disco Yeti, no bird on a stick (which was funny it was so bad), Everest is just a medium size coaster with some rock theming, a large portion of it in the dark, and a quick view of a large statue of a Yeti. Nothing groudbreaking at all, unless you want to talk about the foundation of the Yeti.

Can't be, it's just a bunch of computer screens. :3dglasses

Running a Wii game in hi definition with mounted controllers.

I mean, really, TSMM is just a Wii game with Wii U level graphics, with really good presentation.

There seem to be a fair number of people that think it's a little bit better, or they wouldn't be wasting park time with something they could do at home.

Universal built ALL of Hogsmead, including a truly state of the art dark ride, in about the same time.

Well, except for the pre-existing Dueling Dragons and Flight of the Unicorn. Two out of the three rides there.

This made me laugh. I'm rather sure you should point a finger back at yourself...you are a member of a Disney forum after all. ;)

I haven't ridden 7DMT yet, but I look forward to it. I expected a family coaster - something kids can ride, and in my opinion that is how Disney sold the ride during development and construction too. I wasn't expecting Everest or Rockin' or anything like that. Fantasyland has always been about engaging the younger crowd and this ride had to fit into that.

As for the Universal/Disney thing. I worked at both parks. I worked in WWoHP specifically. Yes, Universal has some spots with great theming. And some good rides. But in my experience and what I saw working there, the team members are not as well trained (outside of WWoHP workers), the rides are down more often, and basic maintenance is not done as often as Disney. Some parts of Universal look pretty sad and in need of some love. Apart from WWoHP, I would pick Disney every time. If Universal didn't have WWoHP I can't see us spending money there unless our kids became roller coaster lovers or something.

Hey I am just calling it for how I see it folks, sometimes a little bit of the truth hurts. For the majority of you on here, Disney can do no wrong and that is why they are able to get away with doing the bare minimum for the past 10 years at WDW. I can't blame the Disney executives at all for the short comings at the parks these days, I blame the people (who are coming in droves) for rewarding them for presenting such a shoddy product.

How can it be that some of the best rides and attractions at Disney are ones that were developed in the 1960's? That is 50 years ago. The Disney groupies have got to wake up and come to their senses about their defense of Disney. You are all thinking with your emotions and not with logic.

The sad news is that I doubt Disney will ever build a new attraction the size and the scope of The Haunted Mansion/Pirates/Splash Mountain/ TOT again at WDW. And why would they? There is absolutely no incentive whatsoever for them to do so.

Here's the thing.....I rode SDMT on Sunday. Was it the best thing since sliced bread? No. But I enjoyed it....as did the rest of my family. Is it a huge thrill ride? Nope. Is it giving US/IoA any competition? Nope. But...it isn't supposed to. It is what it is...a fun ride the entire family can enjoy. Yes, there are things about US/IoA that I love. But, I just don't feel the need to hang out over there for more than 2 days. I don't enjoy just 'being' in the parks there. Not the way I do at WDW. I can go to a WDW park and ride just one or two things and still love it. I enjoy just walking around simply because of the way Disney does theming. I don't think it's a shoddy product at all. But everyone is entitled to their own opinion. It's not as if WDW was promoting themselves as a thrill ride mecca. I don't think I'm 'drinking the Kool-Ade', so to speak.

We rode this on Saturday..

I was hoping for a little more in the scenery department, felt it really resembled Big Thunder a bit too much. The animatronics scene in it is nice, just wish there had been one more.

BUT, my three year old loved it. She's 38.5 inches and can't ride thunder mountain yet. She loves Barnstormer, but that's the closest to a thrill ride that she can get on. She was a bit nervous on that first drop, but, she wanted to ride it again as soon as we got off the ride. I'm sure this one will have long lines for quite awhile. It's one that wouldn't be that difficult to get the teenagers to ride and one the 4 year old in the family can also ride.

Edited to add: As a teenager/young adult, I loved IOA and Universal Studios. Had annual passes for those parks and Busch Gardens. My friends had passes as well and we were at one of those parks every other weekend or so.

As an adult in my early thirties, I'm back to Disney. I haven't been to IOA or Universal in 5 years despite living an hour away. Busch Gardens has better coasters and Disney has better atmosphere. Universal just doesn't meet what I'm looking for. Now, when I was 21 and loved drinking, a day at Universal followed by stumbling around CityWalk until 2 am had appeal. Meh, just not what I want to do anymore.
