Disappointed in Easter Week hours

We are going Thursday before Easter to Thursday after. Just for fun I tried to book another room those dates and only avail was AKlodge and Boardwalk. That tells me it's gonna be packed! Kind of wish I hadn't looked now lol

My theory is that they are testing out the DME crowd control options, urging earlier arrivals, texting changes and now using outbound call centers. They are going to keep hours low, get the same amount of guests and attempt to move the crowds around MK that week to see if this crowd algorithm is going to work for summer and save them a lot of $$ (as was always planned)

We all scratched our heads at the $2B investment. I believe this is the sort of thing they planned on all along for their payback. Too bad it's such a loser for guests!

We are doing March 15-21. Hope it will still be ok-ish.

We have done March Break before and it was ok. But we haven't done "that" close to Easter.

Looking back at my worksheets from 2 years ago, March Break they have AK hours of 8-8. This year is 9-7. And a lot of closure, and no new openings of things.
Really disappointed, and sort of regret booking this year.

Frankly, if they pissed the March Break crowd, it is a bad move, as we are people who are returnees.

Unfortunately, I've been getting the distinct impression they don't care about the return customers at all. They are more interested in the "once in a lifetime" visitors who won't know the difference.

I know, and I am aware of that. Whoever thinks it's the way to go is silly. They will get big bucks now, but will hurt in the long run.

We pay the money because we wanted a vacation, not to be tested how much "we can tolerate".

As I posted a couple days ago, Disney called me to alert me of expected capacity crowds. I was warned that due to expected crowd levels, we may not be able to enter the MK from 3/28-3/31 depending upon the time of day we arrive to use our FP+. Disney is expecting to be turning people away from the MK the week after Easter. I have to believe they also called many others with FP+ booked at MK on those days.

I have FP's for every evening that week at MK and I haven't gotten a call, text, or email about this.

Maybe Disney hates me.

Maybe you are onsite and the previous poster is off-site and would get caught in the first wave of closures?

I didn't think of that. I am on site. You are very smart MaryKatesMom!

Of course being allowed into MK when it's reached any closure level isn't really "winning". It's more like a beating. At least we enjoy philharmagic country bears and the laugh floor....they should have reasonable waits

What makes me the most sad is I do not feel like a guest anymore. I don't even feel like a customer, more like a widget. Employees are no longer cast members, they are simply labor. The H1B law breaking is a great example.

I am guessing that they will add more hours as it gets closer to the date.
?? How much closer to the date are you talking?? I leave in 4 days and really expected some 8am openings.... nothing yet!! And Easter is in 2 weeks! They never wait till the week before! So... I'm pretty disappointed no extended hours or that they haven't added 2nd showings of MSEP or Fantasmic!!!! :sad2:

My Dad, sister and I are going March 26th-April 1st and we're disappointed as well. I'm glad they at least added 8 am openings for Monday-Thursday, but I'd really like at least an 8 am opening for Easter Sunday. At this point, I'm not expecting 7 am, but 8 am would be nice.

I was called on this past Monday. It wasn't a robo call. I spoke to a young man named Ross who explained that they expect MK to likely reach capacity from 3/28-3/31. Our FP+ are in the evening so maybe that is why I received the call. Ross actually suggested that we consider changing our plans due to the expected crowds. He recommended that if we didn't change our plans we should arrive early morning or in the evening.

Since we won't likely arrive at the MK until 7PM or so, Ross thought we should be okay to keep things as they are. We never got on to discussing how I would change plans at this late date. BTW, I have never received any random calls like this previously.

And to respond to one of the previous posts, we are DVC staying at Beach Club Villas and we have gone to Disney each of the last 8 years the week after Easter.

I checked my cell phone. The call came from the following number: (407) 487-3569.

I hope they do add dates last minute. I can't imaginge being there at Easter time without daily EMH at MK. Seriously, what are they thinking?

Also, these calls telling people to 'come early'...someone has to get left out of the park, right? If more people are coming earlier, aren't they just going to close the gates that much earlier? What kind of plan is that? :crazy2:

Yes, but Passover often coincides with Easter and this year it doesn't. Last year it looks like New York schools and Chicago schools had the week after Easter off. I'm not suggesting that Easter week won't be very crowded. But, it is possible that it won't be as crowded as last year and therefore reasonable to not have 7am EMH every day.
All I know is there are no fastpasses left for test track, toy story, or seven dw

I have fastpasses for all those days but I don't answer long distance numbers because it is always telemarketers so who knows if they called? I already know to be there early but I really wish they had those 7 am emhs at Magic Kingdom! My husband asked me what I was getting him into! We have been the week leading up to Christmas and we also did New Year's at Hollywood Studios but we have never done Spring break and Easter. We are just going to go early and stay late and do whatever in between and not stress about it. No doubt, the crowds will be enormous. If I can just keep the kids from catching a virus while we are there, everything will be ok!

If you are in the maximizing profits camp then this is great news. If you're a guest it's not so great. I wish Disney put guest satisfaction first, but that went away years ago. It's now all about Iger's bonus.

Except for the overpriced rooms they rent out to people because it's supposed to come with the benefit of getting EMH access when the parks aren't as busy.

Easter week EMH:
Monday - AK
Tuesday - Epcot
Wednesday - MK
Thursday - Epcot
Friday - HS & MK

Doesn't seem like that perk has been removed?
