Disappointed--Cabin was filthy!

BIgdaddyrog- hahahaha!!!That is exactly what my cabin looked like last NOv. We only had 3 of us in it. Out dining room table looked exactly the same. I about fell out when I looked at those pic's.

To the OP, I am sorry that your cabin was the pits. I love to stay at Disney because I know I will have great service and clean rooms. Here is the thing about those cabins...they are trailers that depreciate like a car. Even when I was there, I noticed molding coming off etc etc.

BigDaddyRog, I am sure your girls appreciate you posting all of their "business". If I were your wife, I would string you up by your brassiere. ;)

Truly though, that is why I have a camper. I know it is clean. But if the cabin was that dirty, I would have called and complained, or even better, brought one of the kids with the dirty hand and feet there to show them how dirty it was. And it would only take a little bit to replace the fridge. You didn't have to move, just go have lunch or spend the day in the parks and when you got back it would have been fine. They can't fix it if they don't know about it. And obviously they weren't busting their humps hard enough or your cabin would have been clean. I can't believe that there wasn't a single good mousekeeper your whole trip.

What happened...because Ive been trying to decide between tent camping and an All Star for early September. I'm leaning towards the tent(or possibly renting a MH), but If you could kick me off the fence onto the FTW side, It would make my decision alot easier.

The last time we stayed at All Star, I was pg (4yrs ago) and have not stayed since. I know it was the location we were at, but I didn't get a wink of sleep because we were facing the football field. The kids (adult and otherwise) played all night. When we got home, we started to look for a pop-up. A pop-up, TT and MH later, we haven't stayed anywhere else since but FW. It just depends on your tolerance level. I quite enjoy the little sleep I get. ;)

Rog-

You know my feelings on FtW vs. Other Disney Resorts. Just rent a Class C MH for your crew & come back to FtW! If you come late October, you'll be just as amazed by the Halloween Decorations as you were the Christmas ones!

I loved your pictures! And.... don't go braggin' about leavin' da seat down. With a wife and 4 daughters, you've been "conditioned"!!   (Your adorable lil' grandson isn't quite old enough to know 'bout "da secret of da seat"!)

You're very right about that Deb...It wasnt many middle of the night blood curdling screams of "Daddy, Help me...I fell in" before I started to pay extra attention .

I've read some really tough reviews about the all stars....many good ones as well....But I REALLY LOVE to tent camp and havent been able to do so since I got rid of my last bike. My 2 oldest daughters wont be going this time around so the baby wont be their either...I think this will be my chance to introduce my 2 young'uns what real camping is....real as opposed to cabin camping, which they've been doing most of their lives...I think they will LOVE it....not so sure about the wife. But Im gonna use the air conditioning idea that someone gave me here a couple of months ago and make it as comfy for her as possible, yep...Im doin it. Ive made my mind up. Now I have to go figure out a way to make my wife think that this is HER idea, and it will then :upsidedow be set in stone.

I can't believe I almost missed this thread. Rog, where was your photo wearing the mickey ears?

His DW has too much class to take a picture of Rog wearing the "pseudo ears" & his grandson is too young to man the camera. Just wait Gatordad, it'll happen. Especially if BDRog & FtWGuy meet up next October & start in on the Kungaloosh!! I guar-an-tee it!!!:thumbsup2

I can't believe I almost missed this thread.

How do you think I feel? I didn't find it until after you posted! Now it feels used! I can't even look at the pictures until I get home because work filters out all those sites!

..she got tipped alitlle extra after she explained the situation.

You're a good guy, not particularly sane, but good.

To OP, sorry for hijacking this thread but that always happens on the camping boards. Sorry you had a bad time at the cabins. Hope the Pop is better next month and I don't repeat DaddyDons's experience!

We've had that problem once. ONE call to the front desk cleared it all up.

We've never stayed in the cabins but may try them next year.

Rog, OK, the homemade Mickey ears may have been a little more than what I wanted to see, but I love that you shared the reality of family vacationing! I enjoyed all those photos and the narration~Thanks for sharing!

By the way, you have been blessed by all those women! tampons and all!

The sad thing about those trailers.....they were paid for after 2 months....

seeing they are about 20 + years old ....I think they got their monies worth:teacher:

We'll give staying on site another chance, maybe Wilderness Lodge. It was just so convenient and other than the cleanliness factor, a great time.

I can't believe those things are 20 years old. Well, in that case, maybe they don't look that bad . . . . .

Comfort is key! I love camping, but I love camping in a pop-up even better! Your wife looks a good deal less hippy than myself, but I'll tell you, if I had to sleep on the ground one more night I was going to declare that all vacations be spent in 5 star hotels from here on out! My poor hips just couldn't take it anymore! Well, DH can appreciate a 5 star hotel, but to him, there is nothing in this world like camping! So, he bought me a pop-up. If you must tent camp, buy her a cot and a feather mattress and 400 thread count sheets and tell her you want your princess to be cozy.

Heck, on second thought, if I'm in WDW, I'd sleep on the ground. Cloud nine is cushy enough :cloud9:

Our cabin was left dirty one of the 7 days we were there and I called housekeeping as soon as we walked in and saw it...the next day the maid appologized for her replacement (she was off on the DIRTY day) and our cabin was spotless. Dont give up on the resorts....mousekeepers are hourly employees and will probably get away with as little work as they are allowed to but its not Disneys policy to let sloppiness go unanswered.

BigDady,,,the picture showing the shower faucet looks just like ours did in 2864 I think it was, water supply was off center of the hole in shower wall. At least they are consistent. We also noticed when we checked in their were a few mousekeeping hic ups. Asked for a clean blanket and some towels, no problems really. We were told an intern had cleaned the room. Theresa was always great.

Actually, those cabins are about 10 years old. Our first trip was in October 1997 and the Wilderness Homes were still there. Shortly after our first trip, I was starting to read reports about them switching out the homes for the cabins.

I wonder if I pro-wrestle bounced off of one cabin wall and slammed full force into the wall on the opposite side of the room , if I could flip a cabin over on its side.

Next time you're there, try getting your family to reinact the scene from At World's End where the crew flips over the pirate ship.
