DISappearing PEEPS Volume 2

Hey! I just came over here from the food porn thread. Just wondering how this works. There may be an explination somwhere in the 101 pages on this thread, but my DS2 is about to get up for the day and I can't read it all. :)
I'm doing weight watchers (was doing it...kind of got off track) trying to lose my baby weight from DS 4mo. I've got about 5 lbs to go...maybe 10 to account for the 5 lbs. that I'll probably gain when I go to WDW in June!

WELCOME!! Only 5lbs to go and he is only 4 mos. old :worship: ...that is great!!

OMG!! That is so scary!!! Thank you for posting this. I'll let my DD know about it so she can make that the baby's nuks are not from playtex.

It shocks me that a company that makes products for babies continues to produce something that is deadly. Thanks for passing it along.

I re-started my 1200 calorie plan on Feb 5th. I was up to 192.2 after 2 weeks of total Deluxe DDP indulgence, drinking, etc due to WDW trip and the week leading up to it. As of Friday, I was 173.2, so not quite 20 lbs.

I stick to somewhere between 1000 and 1200 calories, keep my fat between 20 and 40g, and my fiber between 25 and 35g. I track everything on sparkpeople.com. Also, I have had probably 3 cheat nights in that time frame, and when I say cheat, I *mean* it... pizza, burgers, beer, whole 9 yards! I average about 4 days in the gym, which is probably 2 days avg of weight training, and at least 30 min of high-intensity cardio each visit. I also try to drink at least 64 oz of water, and I occasionally take a Mega-T green tea caplet at about 11:30AM to get through my workout. I also take a multivitamin daily.

I have not given up coffee or diet soda. I have one travel mug of coffee in the morning, one diet soda w/ lunch, and then usually at least 2-3 at night, and/or at least 1 32 oz "clearly american" (wal-marts caffeine free sodium free flavored sparkling water).

I can't tell you haw impresed I am with your progress!! 20lbs since February 5the...you give me hope.

I also can't say how happy I am to hear that you drink coffee. I have been toying with the idea of giving it up again but I am so weak. I only have one 20 oz cup a day. Based solely on the fact that you are losing and still drinking it...I AM NOT doing coffee rehab. Thanks for allowing me to continue with my addiction.:thumbsup2

So glad that you were there when it happened. My DS9 when he was around 4 or 5 choked on a plastic easter egg. He had 1/2 of it and was scooping up ice cream with it and eating it and then something made me look down the hallway (he was sitting on my bed watching TV while I was making dinner) and I screamed because he was choking and my DH ran down the hallway and popped it out somehow. Now if we get those from school or relatives we empty them out and throw them away immediately.

Thank God you looked down that hallway!! IT amazes how fast they can get themselves in trouble. It is a wonder that all mom's aren't on anti-anxiety drugs. I never even considered the plastic eggs as a possible choking hazard :scared1: Guess what I will be throwing away when I get home tonight...:sad2:

Well I had a good week, I weigh in at WW this morning. I had a sinus infection so I think not being able to "smell" anything kind of helped. I am not going back up. I am going to lose at least 100 lb by Nov 2009 when we go to WDW. That is my goal. There I put it in writing. I am up to 5 lb weight loss from my WW meeting, can I put a 5 lb ribbon in my siggy? I might be able to talk this evening, T-ball practice tonight at 6:30 then we have to come home and do homework.

Laura

5lbs is great!! Great job putting your goal out there. I find it helps keep me accountable. I hope you found time to relax a bit.

:scared1: I got goosebumps reading that. SO scary and soooo glad you were there! I don't even want to think about what could have happened!

Me either but it keeps running through my mind...:scared1: I just keep thanking God that it happened before bed and not sometime during the night.

You rang?
I'm fine and thanks for asking about me. Dawn pm'd me yesterday to stop by.

I'm just being lazy, eating junk food, and not exercising. I've gained 8 pounds since last fall. I keep telling myself I'm going to get back on track. I AM still eating my oatmeal and flax seed every morning!

I'm probably not going to read ALL the way back. Can somebody give me the Reader's Digest version of what's happening over here?

Hope everyone is having a beautiful, sunny day just like we are today!

Great to see you!!! Hey, at least you are sticking with the oatmeal and flaxseed. Breakfast is the most important meal...:) Have a great day, Melinda!!

I know I'm not supposed to drink coffee but I just discovered the Sugar Free Iced Coffee at McDonalds! (it was that or the diet coke while shopping at Walmart!) It's really goooood. Now I feel naughty! (Mormons don't drink coffee, remember?). I as rewarded my hard work with getting my nails done!!!! :cool1: I also self-tanned this morning so now I feel soooo cute!

Doing little things for yourself once in a while is fabulous! :lovestruc I refuse to feel guilty!

No guilt!!! You desrerve a nice treat for yourself. You are kicking the dt. pepsi and that is hard.

A large percentage of the language students that I work with are Momon. BYU has a great language program and the oversea missions certainly help that skill as well.

Still trying to pick a place for one more ADR in July.

What do you guys think about the Dinner at 1900 Park Fare at the GF?

My trip will be an all girls trip. DH has decided he cant do Disney 2 years in a row so it is going to be me, dd (16), DD girlfriend (16) and dd (12). I've never done a solo vacation before either- who's going to hold my stuff???? DH was the designated bag carrier/holder since he is a none rider.

I'm also considering, Kona or Ohana. Decided against the Big River Grille- We are not very adventrous in our tastes - my girls wont eat seafood at all- and I tend not to try things I cant pronounce.

I like Ohana for breakfast but not dinner (I am sure a part of that is because I am a vegetarian). Kona is always good but I would go with 1900 Park Fare. It can be a bit crazy but if you go into it knowing that and just prepare yourself, it really is a good time.

Okay so most of you know that I am doing my thesis on Disney. Well I defend it on Thursday. I just found out over the weekend that I have to bring food for the committee and public attending. Sooo, I set out for a mickey cookie cutter to make tea sandwhiches. 8 stores later and still no luck. So I made an edible bouquet. I gave it a test run tonight after I got all the fruit ready. It lloks so kewl!! I can't wait to see their faces when they come in for the presentation!

Oh and I made candy glass slippers out of white chocolate, chocolate mickey shapes, I got the committee members Cars Pez, a Ratatouille gummy food cookbook, and Princess mints.

Totally Excited!!!!

That bouquet is AMAZING!!! Excellent job giving the committee memebers some extra treats :thumbsup2 Best of luck to you. I can't wait to hear how your presentation goes. Are you nervous?

I just finished doing my taxes, and GREAT news... over $1800 in combined refunds!! :yay: I thought we were going to owe this year, but the tuition deduction came through (for the last time, sigh).

Nice!! Thankfully we have not owed since we bought the house. The kids help too.

My new scale weighs 4 lbs. heavier than my old scale. I just went ahead and accepted it after a while. It is closer to the gym scale which I think is pretty accurate. LOL on the bikini babe neighbor. When we went to Hawaii, DH and I saw 2 ladies in thongs. One had a perfect behind, small and round and firm. The other was skinny, with her toddler running around her, and her behind looked like a balloon w/three quarters of the air let out. Yikes.

:lmao: :lmao: Nice!! You had some entertainment. Ilove people watching while I am on vaction. You never know what you will see :scared1: BTW, scales are evil!! I refuse to buy a new one for this reason alone.

Yikes. I'm going to forward this to my nieces, who have small children and one of whom works in childcare.

I never would have even considered a pacifier as dangerous. Why the he$$ aren't they made better??

i'm totally jealous. we OWE $1800. :sad2: i had to borrow $1000 from my grandparents to pay it. we're trying to refinance and i was gonna get that $1000 from the house payment i could skip during the refinance, but it's taking longer than we thought because everyone and their mother apparently is refinancing right now. so we're skipping may instead of april. i can pay them back then. anyway, just very frustrating having to give the government MORE money!

just an FYI, kids are a great write-off...just saying

so i have a deposition today in athens and then afterwards i'm heading to target to get disney supplies!!!!! :woohoo: it's so funny how buying regular stuff like a 3-pack of gum is so much more exciting when you're taking it to disney world.

I love going shopping for WDW supplies!! I always end up buying stuff I never would otherwise. Have fun!!

Have a great day Peeps! I will check-in later!! :grouphug:

Hi all,
Just a fly-by! My cross trainer has finally been delivered, its great! So far Ive done 30 mins a day on it - I do it while im watching TV!

Hope everyones having a great day
Hi to Melinda :wave2: and to everyone else too!

I know I'm new here and I feel silly butting in, but I'm going to do it anyway. :rotfl: I was looking on eBay the other day and they have Mickey cookie cutters. What you did with the fruit looks fantastic, though!! Just thought I'd let you know in case you still needed one. I think I saw one for $0.99.

Chime in anytime!! We don't bite, I promise.

great bouquet......looks very yummy!

Wow your trip is soon!! Mine is in about 5 weeks.

Sorry to hear you owe... I thought we were going to since an estimating calculator had told me so a few months back, so this was a nice surprise!

I forgot to tell you all, I finished mine, and am getting $1,000 back, so I will be going to Disney in September. :cool1:

And with that $600 rebate or whatever it is that everyone's getting, I can almost finish paying off my student loans.

I get a $1200 rebate. :) Glad to hear that you got a refund too.

And, I agree on the food stamps. All of that in general tends to get me hot under the collar. I totally believe in helping people who really need it, but I think that our current system is flawed.

I am new around here too, but I have been butting in. Hope nobody minds!:rolleyes1

loser1824 - Awesome food boquet! You are going to WOW them, I just know it! BTW, I hope your user name refers to weight loss, and not self esteem! I can already tell that you are not a "loser"!:thumbsup2

Mind!! No way. This is a talkative group and jumping in is almost required! :thumbsup2

Hi lovelies - I've had a headache for the last couple of days but trying to make it through. I'm going walking tonight with a group of girls (unless it completely pours rain) so that's my exercise of the day. I put it out there on another board I'm on that we'll meet every Wednesday until I leave for my trip. Gotta get in shape for all that walking, especially since we'll be with my marathon-running sister-in-law. She'll be five months pregnant but will still weigh less than me (we weighed the same two years ago).

I was thinking last night that if I lost weight the way they do on The Biggest Loser, I'd be done in 3 weeks!

Why is it every time I have a full-time job I can't lose weight? Must change that.

Have a good week everyone!
Tiff

Oh my goodness that is so funny that you are doing that too! I am doing weight watchers and I save up to have some "bed bread." I would eat toast EVERY night before bed. My husband thought it was an obsession. I'm one night bed bread free. I know it was a bad habit. I'm trying to break it. :yay:

Not to feed any bad habit here but WW has bread that is 1 pt for 2 slices. I use 1/2 T margarine and have a 2 pt snack or breakfast.

Can I say something without offending anyone? Last night at work, me and one of the other ladies at work had a conversation at food stamps. We were getting annoyed at what some of the people were buying with them.

That has been a pet peeve of mine for a long time. I don't think I've seen a thin person on food stamps........ If they coouldn't buy soda and chips and ice cream on food stamps, they wouldn't be purchasing it. A lot of health problems would be solved if people had fewer unhealthy choices available to them.

I did really well yesterday. I didn't cave when I had a migraine, I just took some meds and went to bed even though I wanted a big burger and fries. I stayed on plan and had all my fruits and veggies.

This morning DH wanted to get out of the house so we went to Bob Evans and I ate a fruit cup and oatmeal. For $3.60, it was a pretty good amount of food. I'm going to pack one of my pre-made salads for dinner.

I've got to leave for work in 10 mins......argh, I hate when it sneaks up on me.

I have to agree with you. Food stamps should be given to people who really NEEDS them. And if you do get food stamps, dont buy a lot of junk food. The government is giving you money to feed your family breakfast, lunch and dinner and maybe a few snacks. The government isnt giving it to you to feed your family full of junk food.

My parents used to be on food stamps when I was younger. And my mom bought breakfast, lunch and dinner stuff and some snacks. But she didnt buy a whole bunch of snacks. And even then when she bought snacks, some of those snacks would be fruit. Now, my husband and I, we buy breakfast, lunch and dinner stuff and maybe a thing of cookies, soda and Gaterade and thats about it.

We are trying to get into the whole process of buying fruit though. DH LOVES apples. Me, Im more of a strawberry, watermelon, cantalope, grape, banana person, :lmao: We bought bananas last week, so I could make tonga toast. It turned out OK. I wish I had the non-sliced bread instead of the sliced bread. Oh well, maybe next time they will have it. Anywho, it only took 1 banana to make 2 things of tonga toast, so we still had some bananas left over. And then on Saturday we went to the Omish Farmers Market, and I got chocolate covered strawberries. I know, I know, chocolate - should stay away - but hey its still fruit, right?! And theres more strawberry then chocolate anyway.

Can I say something without offending anyone? Last night at work, me and one of the other ladies at work had a conversation at food stamps. We were getting annoyed at what some of the people were buying with them.

One lady had a $300 order of junk food, including $30 of chicken wings, (which is weird that she was able to get them at all, since prepared foods are supposed to be not allowed.) I understand a few treats, but I can't stand seeing people come in a buying hundreds of dollars worth of junk, and them getting it for "free" from the government, and our tax dollars having to pay for it.

Next example, (this didn't happen last night, but it was recent,) two ladies were in buying lobster tails, and paid for them with food stamps. That was the whole order, just lobster tails. I'd like lobster too, but I can't afford it.

I also really don't get when peopler come in and use the same card like a debit card, (then it's not food stamps, it is like a debit card, and they can buy anything with it,) and buy cigarettes with it.

Then I feel bad when it seems like people who actually need the support, and buy healthy stuff, but don't have a lot on their card.

I think the government should more closely moderate who they are giving the food stamps too, and how much they are giving. If they are using it for cigarettes and lobster, then I don't think they really need to be using them.

Also, it seems a lot more common for people to be on food stamps now then it was ten years ago. I used to get a few food stamp orders a week, if that, now I get several a day.

Hello everybody! I've been calculating my calories carefully (like that alliteration???) and have averaged about 1750 for the past few days. That's still TOO much - I'm supposed to get around 1650 - so I'm looking for ways to decrease that. The real downfall was yesterday, when I went to Wendy's with my aunt (her request). Even though I was on the healthy side it was still more calories than I'd have at home. Fast food really does you in.

So does Pepsi. But that's another story.

Welcome to our new Peeps! Jump away - that burns calories - and join in the discussion anytime!

SO jealous of the ladies leaving for WDW! It's still months till I go back, but then, at least we're going back...

Oh yeah! DH and I have Wii Fit pre-ordered and paid for at Gamestop. It comes out next month, the 19th. It will be $90. Wii Fit will be my excerise material to use. DH and I also have started taking walks every couple days with our dog. We havent been able to do that for a few days now, cuz its been raining here. Im hoping the rain will get out of here soon. It turning our back yard into a mud fest and small ponds are forming. And its really making me mad to. Cuz since I have to take my dog out back, he gets mud all over his paws, and then comes in and tracks it all over the house. We try to wipe most of the mud off his paws when he comes in, it helps, but doesnt get it all off. Luckly most of the mud ends up on the tiling floor next to our back door, so all we have to do is take the swiffer sweeper and a wet sweeper cloth and go over the floor with it.

Also, check out my new tickers! Someone posted over on the AKL thread on the resort board that they got a new ticker and I liked it a lot. So I went and grabbed a new one for my trip and a new one for my weight loss. They have all kinds of different ones. The weight loss tickers can count how many pounds you've lost and/or your waist size. So if you want that ticker, just click on my ticker below.

Just checking in here and hope everyone is doing well at mid-week.

Loser.... that is a beautiful fruit bouquet. I am so impressed and I love the canister you used to hold it!

UM.... how goes the battle with Diet Pepsi??

Punkin.... I know what you mean about the shopping for Disney. I have already made three more "last trips" to shop for our trip and I am going out again today!!

HockeyKat.... you'd be so proud of me... I ran this morning for 10 full minutes at 3.9/mph... terrific for an overweight, out of shape, middle-aged suburban Mom! I also managed to exercise Monday, Tuesday, and today, even though I am so busy getting ready for vacation.

Well.... 7 days and counting until I leave for the World. It is certainly keeping me on target with the "weight loss journey". Plus, I joined a "Biggest Loser" contest in January at the school where I work and it ends this Friday. It appears that I am in the lead, but someone could come in with a big loss at the end and blow me away. If I do win, I will be using the cash prize to buy myself something special while in Disney (it won't be a lot, but I will have EARNED it!!)

Well... off to run my errands. ........................P

Not to feed any bad habit here but WW has bread that is 1 pt for 2 slices. I use 1/2 T margarine and have a 2 pt snack or breakfast.

Oh, I definitely do the 1 pt. bread. :) I get either nature's own double fiber or light publix bread. Then I use the I Can't Believe It's not Butter spray so that's not any extra!! I try to get the most out of my points.

I guess bed bread is better than bed icecream....:)

I thought I had more quotes.:confused3 Been gone for a while but trying to recommit myself.I lost three pounds last week so I am off to a good start.:goodvibes

Warning to all of you parents of small children!! Do not use the playtex orthodontic pacifiers! The entire nipple pulled off of the button last night while my son had it in his mouth. If I had not seen it happen or if he had been in bed for the night he would have choked to death. I called playtex and they are sending me a bag to put the pacifier in and send it back to them. I did some research and they have had 3 different orthodontic pacifiers recalled due to the same problem in 2000/2001. They had 21 reports of this same thing happening. Obviously, they still have not gotten it right. I shudder to think what could have happened. I was shaking so hard when I called that I could barely speak to customer service rep.
Soo glad your son is okay.
I know I'm not supposed to drink coffee but I just discovered the Sugar Free Iced Coffee at McDonalds! (it was that or the diet coke while shopping at Walmart!) It's really goooood. I was fighting a headache all day yesterday. Finally took 3 generic Tylenol at dinner...turns out it was Tylenol PM!!! I was falling asleep by 8:45 and was completely drugged by 9:15!!!! I did see most of Biggest Loser though! I definitely won't do that again!!! :sad2:

You're right...if we all could lose the way they do on Biggest Loser, it wouldn't take us very much time to lose. However, we don't have all day to exercise and do nothing else!!!:confused3 If only.............

I definitely try to keep my snack items low too... if it is not in my house, then I am not as tempted. I do buy certain things though... 94% ff popcorn, ff pringles, and usually one 80-120 calorie snack pack (like ice cream, cupcakes, etc) to have if I am really craving.

I do have a lot of fresh fruits (grapefruits and apples last a LONG time in the fridge) around, too. Pineapples are 200 cals in the whole thing, and are only $3.50 at our Wal-Mart so I usually get one of those about once every other week. Bananas a bit too high-calorie for me, and I will only get strawberries if they are $2 or under at Wal-mart.

Just checking in here and hope everyone is doing well at mid-week.

I am SUPER proud of you!! :yay: The overweight and out-of-shape parts of that sentence are very soon to be part of the past!

I made it to the gym for the 5th day in a row. 25 min on arc trainer, 45 of weight training and ab exercises.

DisneyObsession - I always wondered that about The Biggest Loser...after those people have to go back to "real life" and can't work out for 12 hours a day, what happens to the weight they lost? I've heard about two or three of those people who have gained some weight back; it's probably unavoidable.

I am STRESSED out right now, and of course, I want nothing more than to eat, eat, eat! So hard to stay on the straight and narrow..

Thank goodness for the DIS!

Can I say something without offending anyone? Last night at work, me and one of the other ladies at work had a conversation at food stamps. We were getting annoyed at what some of the people were buying with them.

UGH! I worked for a hospital in the business office (patient collections, I totally felt like the Sheriff in Robin Hood). You wouldn't believe the people who would try to get us to write off their bills. One woman included a picture of her kids with her application (taken with her digital camera and printed at home, you could just tell), was dressed nicely, and pulled up in her Escalade with the custom alarm system. Where's a puking smiley when you need it?

The chili and a side salad with FF dressing isn't bad, or you could our the chili over a plain baked potato! I'm jealous too. NO! HAPPY FOR. (Trying to be good here!) All I know is that when I'm done with school, DH and I are treating ourselves (Read: me) to Disney!

I love how on BL they managed to get major injuries. I've seen people who have had weight loss surgery lose slower than those people! I love BL, but what worries me are the people who are close to or right at their ideal weight pushing to lose 5+ lbs a week to stay in the game. That's insane to me.

That being said, I would love to go to a camp for a week or two and work out like a crazy person, consult with a nutritionist, have people cook healthy meals, learn how to cook better, etc... (but have spa treatments included.)

I just want you to know that I do take offense to your post. I came to this thread for support and encouragement while I battle cancer and try to lose some weight to increase my chances of survival. I did not come over here to discuss hot political topics, slam people I do not know or participate in generalizations regarding groups of people I do not know.

You do not know me or anything about my situation. This could be me you are talking about for all you know. I remember a time not so long ago when you came over here complaining that people were talking about you, misjudging you, and now you are doing this on a thread that was intended to be non-controversial, non-judgemental and supportive.

Wendy, I apologize for posting this in your otherwise wonderful thread. And I'm sorry but I will have to bow out going forward as I'm not interested in reading about this type of stuff.

To the other peeps, I'll miss you. You've been great to me and I appreciate it.

Greetings everyone! :upsidedow

So far today I have been pretty good, only 1100 calories so far. 20 minutes on the elliptical (2.6 miles). I'm going to try to do another 20 minutes....at least 10. Gotta make myself!

Got the Mega Green Tea, with Hoodia. Can't really tell a major energy difference, but I am not feeling tired, so that's a good thing. There were so many "dietish" pills at Walmart, but alot of them had ALOT of extra vitamins. I even bought a bottle of B-complex vitamins, ($4) but when I got home and looked them up online, I am to scared to take them  . For Thiamin, it has the DV at 6,667%. Weeell, that looks like a leetle much, considering some of the possible side effects. But the Green Tea just had tea and herbs (basically), so I think I'll just try that for a while. ;)

Well, I am to MAKE myself run-walk for as long as I can stand it...I bought 3 good books at Walmart as an incentive-gotta have something to read as a distraction!

Have a good night peeps!

I sincerely hope that this does not tic anyone off, but I avoided the whole "FS" discussion because I was thinking, "There but for the Grace of God go I"

I have been the cashier, so I've seen it from that side, and I guess I'll bite the bullet and say that 16 years ago, after DD was born, I also was one of the ones using them. 20 year olds do not make alot of $ after daycare. Thank God and hard work that my DH and I are in a much better place now.

PAKEY: I don't know what to say, but I really, really hate the thought of you not posting here anymore. I think you brought ALOT of encouragement and humor here.

I am just sad.

And, just a little nervous about posting this.
