i just did my taxes.

i owe $1,800 to federal and $400 to state. not good, but could've been worse. now i just gotta figure out how to get the money. :confused3

have you guys heard anything about the tax rebate coming in may supposedly? i heard it's $1,200 for couples. does anyone know how true this is?

It is true. The checks will be send from May to July.

$600 for a single adult whose 2007 AGI is under $75K. They prorate it for a few more thousand (can't remember the details) and then eventually it phases out.

$1200 for a married couple filing jointly (one or two can be employed) whose 2007 AGI is under $150K. They prorate it for a few more thousand (can't remember the details) and then eventually it phases out.

If you are eligible for the about then you get $300/child under 17 up to 4 children. This is also prorated.

I am behind 2 pages, but I'll catch up.

Took the girls back to the Dr. Let me just say I'm not one of those moms that runs to the dr everytime my kids get sick, this is just one nasty cold.

Mal's ears haven't changed, they changed her script to omicef and she still has her fever.

Maddy now has another ear infection and they put her on augmentin.

Man! I should have a suite at the Dr.s office.

LMO and Kangaroo:

I tried the "its gotta be my thyroid". Well it wasnt. Turns out the diagnosis- Old, Fat, Lazy. (or over 40, overweight, and I've forgotten where the gym is)

Mony-
I feel for you. My oldest DD had multiple ear infections when she was little. I dont know if you have discussed it with your doctor but what about an antibiotic shot. YIKES! Omnicef and Augmentin- $$$ also get ready for diarrhea with the augmentin, it is a notorious side effect as well as yeast infection. Praying for spring!

The weather we usually experience ranges from the high 70's to the low 90's. Most of the time, it's in the 80's, I think. The humidity is not bad at all usually! I was actually able to straighten my hair several days last May when we were there. (Which is really saying something since my hair's naturally wavy!)

It is our anniversary trip too! :) And actually, we will have two other couples with us. One is my best friend from high school and her husband (who live in Indy now), whose anniversary is the day before ours (They spent their 5-year anniversary at our rehearsal, so we are paying them back!), so it's an anniversary trip for them too. They are driving separately and staying with us for the first 5 nights of the trip. And the other is one of my best friends from work and her husband. Her birthday is May 14th, and her husband is graduating from the University of Illinois on May 10th, so we'll be celebrating those occasions as well on this trip! They are riding down with us and staying in a separate room for the first 5 nights and then moving in with us for the rest of the trip. We have a 1-bedroom savanna view at AKV for the whole trip this time! We are very excited. It's our first stay there and one of our home resorts, and with so much to celebrate, we are really looking forward to it! So we are totally up for sneaking in a Peep meet if you are. Let me know! :) I will be posting a rough itinerary soon-ish. I need to call my friend in Indy and ask her a couple of questions to get a couple things nailed down first.

Hope everyone's having a great weekend!

I have wavy hair too... but I am used to the humidity now.

I will pose it to Mr Kat but it has to be off-handedly... he is rather wary of message board friends. I might get him to agree if I can couch into seeing an AKV room, though... maybe we can bring by a bottle or two of wine one night. Or you guys can come by BWV, we will have a one-bed there as well, and I hear the BW view is spectacular. Hopefully we can work something out. :goodvibes

Just be careful. There is a week in early June that tends to attract a bunch of folks who prefer to date people of the same gender. This doesn't bother me specifically and it may not bother you at all, but just wanted to alert you. Especially if you have young children... it can force you to explain things to them that you may prefer to do when they are a bit older. :goodvibes

Thanks. Do you know approx. when those days are? Not that I have a problem with it but my husband definetly would. Actually, I have several family members that are that way. I don't agree with it but I don't criticize them and I still love them very much.

I don't think you'd see that much higher temps at the beginning of June. We have been there at that time as well. In fact, the dates you mentioned were almost the exact same as our honeymoon back in 2002. And we were there around those same dates in 2005. So we have been there for Memorial Day weekend before. It wasn't that bad on either of those trips. We just like to be there on our actual anniversary now, so we go about a week earlier than we did then. And we use Memorial Day to rest up and do laundry before heading back to work. I that'd be a great time to go! :thumbsup2

Thanks for your input. I'm pretty sure that we will go late May into early June. :thumbsup2

I have been there before and there is nothing that you will see. Just avoid the park of the day and all will be good. The park of the day will be crowded.

My second son had 3 sets of tubes in his ears by age 3. He had 11 ear infections by the time he was 1.

This evening for the first time she is not flaming hot.

The Dr said if the fever was still there on Monday we'd have to do the shots.
My Zach had those, not fun.

I am soooo far behind, and didn't even have time to weigh myself on Friday, but I am sure the number went in the wrong direction thanks to the GS cookies I got from my niece. :rolleyes1 I've already finished off a box of the Lemon Chalets, Tagalongs (plus bought another box from a girl at church Wed. night), and working on a box of Samoas. DH and DD have finished off a box of Thin Mints.

I am so busy with softball with DD, and planning DS high school career. :lmao: Actually, I think we have that one figured out now. He has to turn in his signed card on Monday. Also, he will be turning 15 in the next few weeks, so I am going to have to budget time to take him to the DMV to get his permit. :scared1: Hopefully he will pass or I will have to make a return trip. :scared1: :scared1:

I will try to lurk, and catch up, but just wanted to say HI! :wave2:

Hi guys. Wow, there's so much talk of May trips to WDW. We are going to be there May 19-26th, same week as Kat. Mo and I are going alone for the first time in a long time. Every time we've been in the past 5 years, we've taken one or all of our adult kids or friends with us. I'm a little concerned about the crowds though. Does anyone know what to expect? The reason I'm concerned is that Mo called today to book tee times for golf and all of the early times were already booked. You can only call at 90 days so he hit the window yesterday. He had to wait on hold for a long time to the golf number and then when he couldn't get the courses he wanted on any of the days, I started thinking this week may be more crowded than we had expected. Any thoughts?

And to WatchingCaptainKangaroo, welcome.

Considering I've done numerous diets and exercise plans (trainers, etc...) and haven't seen the change I should have, I'm thinking it's something else. I also have other symptoms. Something isn't right.

I will be there as well from May 14th leaving on the 21st. Im staying at the BCV for my bachelorette party. I went last year with my fiance from May 5th - May 12th. Crowds were there but overall I thought it was a great! I found the attractions to be the most crowded were the ones that pre-school children could participate on. (rides in fantaslyand, safari in AK, etc)

The overall impression I get from reading the boards lately is that the parks are just more crowded overall than they were in previous years. I think in part to the promotion of a year of a million dreams! So I am preparing myself for expecting it to be more crowded than usual. Also I am getting there a week later than last year and I dont know if that will make a difference in it being more crowded. My fiance and I already decided that in 2009 we will be going the week of May 3rd. We love it that time of year! with the end of october being our 2nd choice but due to the F&W festival.

I am just preparing to be there for the rope drop at each park. I think that makes the biggest difference on whether the crowds are more manageable.

Sorry about the golf tee time. Maybe it is filled not due to the crowds but because there are only 2 golf courses (i think) on the entire disney property. I know most people like to golf first thing in the morning so maybe it just books up so fast not because of the huge crowds disney will have but just because of limited availability. (just guessing...:confused3 )

if mo can not get an early tee time take that opportunity to get to the park early..very early for the rope drop.

Ok- this is the third time I've typed this - this crazy laptop sent the other two into cyberspace- I dont know what I hit. Anyway-

I would never discourage you from seeing your doctor. It really could be your thyroid especially if you are having other symptoms. I'm a registered nurse when I'm not Disney wishing. But for me- my thyroid works perfectly- so my diagnosis of myself was old, fat, and lazy. (i thought it was funny)

A good physical and some simple blood work could make all the difference in the world. Keep us posted. And if its not your thyroid- we are here for you-

Welcome pixiedust:

Allelujah! Mal woke up fever free.

She fell asleep on the couch after I gave her the Omicef for the first time. She was soaked of sweat. I changed her and put her to bed.

She slept through the night!!!!!!

And when I asked her how she was feeling she answered good. The last week it was Not Good.

So, I think we are finally getting better.

I need to join this group. I need to lose about 30lbs to get to where I was happy 2 years ago. Sitting on your butt all day at work will do that to ya.

My problem is, no matter what I do to diet, I can't lose more than 5lbs (that is most likely water weight). I think something may be wrong with my thyroid (yes, I have a doc appt). In the mean time, maybe joining here will help motivate me.

:welcome:

I forgot to mention that I took my youngest son to the doctor yesterday and he has both strep throat & the flu. Even the doctor couldn't believe that he had both. He's actually feeling much better today. I'm just thankful that it was caught before it got really bad.

Poor baby.

i just did my taxes.

i owe $1,800 to federal and $400 to state. not good, but could've been worse. now i just gotta figure out how to get the money. :confused3

I know what you mean Dawn, my DH is self employed and we get hit every year. To make you feel better it's a lot more that $1800, not good for us though.

I have a question about this. My DH is self employed so we pay our taxes annually (he's supposed to do it quarterly but we never have the money). So do we get a check or does that just come out of what we will pay? I guess that's something I have to ask his aunt, she's our accountant.

Faith - Me, DH and DS#1 (we was 2 and I was preggo with DS#2) went in early May and left around May 12-14. It was almost 6 years ago so the brain can't remember the exact dates. Anyway I left the crowds not being that bad at all and the weather was quite nice. Considering I was 7 months pregnant and very big, it wasn't bad at all.

Allelujah! Mal woke up fever free.

:cool1: :cheer2: :cool1: :cheer2:

Well we had a busy week off from school. DS8 had the stomach thing on Tuesday night and all day Wedesday he slept. DS6 got it Friday night and slept all day yesterday and DD2 got it last night and right now is nursing and going down to sleep. Mommy is tired.:crazy2:

i just skimmed, but welcome to our newbie!!!!! :goodvibes

mony - i hope your sick kidlets feel better soon. have you tried those shower soother things to help loosen up their cough? it works for me every time. you can buy them at any drugstore/walmart and they're in the section with the vicks vaporub. you just put one of those tablets in the shower and let the water run on it to melt it while standing over it.......makes that cough loosen right up. when they get out of the shower their cough will be worse but it'll be because it's making all that crap come up and get out! those things are my saving grace when i have a cold. speaking of, i need to go get some today. this sore throat has turned into a cough.

by the way, they have a vanilla mint (or something like that) scented one that's probably better for your kids - the menthol one is pretty strong.

I know what you mean Dawn, my DH is self employed and we get hit every year. To make you feel better it's a lot more that $1800, not good for us though.

i prepaid quarterly taxes and i still owe $1800. :sad2: it wouldn't have been so bad except DH changed his filing status at work when they changed payroll companies and didn't tell me. so he didn't pay in as much this year. he's changing that next week!

am i the only one who gets frustrated when they change the smilies??? every time i get used to them, they change them around. and is this a "smoking a doobie" smilie???? ----> :smokin:

I have a question about this. My DH is self employed so we pay our taxes annually (he's supposed to do it quarterly but we never have the money). So do we get a check or does that just come out of what we will pay? I guess that's something I have to ask his aunt, she's our accountant.
If you filed a 2007 income tax return and meet the qualifications then you will get the rebate.

If you do not pay 90% of your taxes in by 12/31/07 (with a W2) or 1/15/08 for quarterly payers you will be hit with a penalty and be required to pay 125% the next year before those dates.

If you cannot pay 1/4 quarterly how do you pay 100% now?:confused3

mickeyfan - i paid $9600 in quarterly payments all together (the last one being on 1/15/08). i owe $1800. so as long as i file and pay what i owe by 4/15/08, then i'll get that $1200 check, right?

by the way, are you an accountant or tax professional? or do just have a freakishly better understanding of all this crap than a normal person does? :rotfl:

laura - what i've done in years past is just taken 23% (i know it's an odd number, but it works for me) of every paycheck and put it into savings. then when my quarterly taxes are due i just empty out my savings account. usually that method works well. last year i was owed $17, so it worked out pretty much perfectly. the previous year i think i got like $300 back. anyway, this year it didn't work because of DH changing his number of dependants from 0 to 1. i have no clue why he did that. :rolleyes2

i'm thinking of incorporating this year so i won't have to pay self-employment tax. i'm still weighing that option to see if it's the best one for me though.

Not an accountant or a tax professional. I did take accounting in college, but it was not my major. I love numbers and always tell DH that when I retire I am going to work for H&R Block for our Disney fund. So I guess I just have a freakishly better understanding of all this crap.:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

To answer your question. If you are all paid up with your taxes then you will get a $1200 check (based on what I posted earlier). The only thing is will the distribution be based on the last 2 digits of the SSN or when you filed your taxes. The latest to get the check is in July.

Be sure to have him take the practice tests online. They're almost exactly like the questions on the test. Good Luck!! pixiedust:

I am offically sick:sick: I had a 102.1 fever yesterday afternoon. But, I don't feel as bad today so hopefully the medicine is kicking in.

i think i'll go ahead and file my taxes this week just in case it's based on when the taxes are filed. i know that i can file and not send in my check at the same time......as long as i send it before 4/15. if it's based on the last 2 digits of my social, we're gonna be late on that list. both DH and i have higher numbers. :crazy2: not that it matters when we get the $1200 check....i'm gonna have to borrow the money from either my mom or grandparents anyway and pay them back when we get the check.

thanks for the info!
