I woke up this morning on my back (I always sleep on my side) anyway I had my hands on my hips and guess what I felt........"MY BONES!!!!!!" :lmao: I have not felt my hip bones since last summer.

Doing weight watchers has been a slow journey but as the weeks have gone by its becoming more and more successful!

The more I think about it I truly think that Jillian Michael dvds I have are making a huge difference.

Nice Ripped Arms in a Tank Top at Disney!!!! Here I come!!!! ;)

can i just get a show of hands, please? how many of you know that you should tip 20% for good service???? just wondering.:rolleyes1

:wave2: Me!

I take it you're getting jipped? I'm so sorry! I bet you're the nicest, most diligent server too. People are just stupid.

Maybe your not smiling BIG enough...JUST KIDDING! :sad2:

I AM taking a free pass today. I know I only have 1 and I am using it.

BTW I had a very nice salad for lunch. I haven't been awful, I am just sick of being sick. My kids are sick, my husband is sick, we don't sleep cause of all the coughing. I just need to get through all this.

So, I am using my free pass.:snooty:

DS8 had the stomach thing Wednesday into Thursday. DS6 had it all night throwing up last night. Poor baby. He had nothing in his stomach and was still up every 45 minutes to throw up. I hear ya sista. DD2 has a cough so she's up too. I may need a nap today.

Ok, this is my first week reporting in as a peep... I am down -3 pounds for this first week. It's been a rollercoaster week - hope to do better next week!

You hope to better next week. That's awesome for your first week.

Duh! Forgot to post my weigh in! First of all, I have a new scale. It reads about 2 lbs lower than my old scale, so keep that in mind when I tell you that I am down 4.2 lbs! That brings me down to 211 lbs! Which means I've lost 39 lbs overall, and I am getting really excited about getting below 200. Hey! I just realized I need to change my bling! :woohoo: Oh, and DH has lost about 30 lbs himself! :thumbsup2

Yeah :woohoo:

can i just get a show of hands, please? how many of you know that you should tip 20% for good service???? just wondering.:rolleyes1

:wave2: I do too. Unless you're really nasty you get 20%.

:cheer2: Can I get a WHOOT WHOOT for feeling bones. You go girl in your Tank Top at Disney. :woohoo:

lol...i certainly tip at least 20% if i get good service.even ok service i do 20...i am assuming that the patrons at ye olde longhorn were el cheapos tonight...ugh. :sad2:

Dawn, I tip 20% for average service as that is the norm here. I leave a bit more than that if it's good service.

Once, in a galaxy far far away, I waited tables for 2 weeks. I consider myself to be a workaholic, a hard worker. Before college, I worked packing fruit, worked on an assembly line in a factory, etc. I even survived my 2 months of military boot camp training. Nothing, nothing I've ever done was as hard as those 2 weeks of waitressing. Not only is it brutal physically, but you have to do it with a smile, even when some toad of a person is pushing every button on you.

So I gladly leave my 20-25% in recognition for the hard work.

:wave2: but then I did a lot of waitressing in high school/college. I also tip housekeeping in hotels, and the person who staffs the continental breakfast and the shuttle bus driver. All the "carp"-pay service jobs. I wish businesses would just pay a decent wage and cut out the tipping, but as things stand now, I think it's important.

I am a reformed "tipper". I always knew that servers made "sub-minimum" but until my daughter started working as a server I never realized how "minimum" it was. I now tip at least 20% -

We usually tip 20%. Some times more but rarely less.

:wave2: Me!

i want to thank all of you for appreciating good service! i just don't get it. most of my tips last night were between 10-15%. but i wasn't the only one - everyone was complaining about it. that was my first friday night. i guess the cheapos come out on fridays after they get paid. i know it's not me - i'm not saying i'm the best server that ever lived but i KNOW when i screw up. it wasn't all bad - the last table i had left me $20 on $97 (pretty funny because i spilled the chic's water glass!). but $9 on a $105 check is not a good tip, people!!!! and it's not like the math's hard.....you just take 10% of your bill and double it. :confused3

and i don't know if people realize how much per hour servers make. it's $2.13 in most places. they make you claim your tips for tax purposes and by the time you do that, you NEVER get a paycheck. i don't think many people realize that (except for sparkie because she mentioned it above!)

i'm not at the point yet where i'm ready to give it up. i mean, this was only my 4th shift (i think). however, if the money doesn't get better, this isn't going to last much longer. it's not worth giving up my weekends to make 10% tips!

pakey - thanks for those kind words.

danielle - glad you're home safe and had a good time!

I almost always tip at least 20%. DF will usually tip more, he's very generous.

I usually work Sunday nights, but I was so happy yesterday when I got my schedule, and saw I'm off tomorrow night, so I can watch the Oscars.

You do realize you got the 1000th post!
Woooooo HOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

Wow!! Yay me!! What'd I win?? Mouse ears?? Fastpass??
I'm ready to pull my hair out! :scared1: Figuring out my son's high school schedule is driving me nuts! Please send me some smart pixiedust: ! When did registering for high school become a class all on its own? :teacher: :confused3

Picking classes is the worse you either have to many you want or to few.

SAMER

I haven't be online all week. Every afternoon I've been getting headaches.:headache: And now my throat is sore and my nose is starting to run. So it's not looking good. Hello nyquil and dayquil.

 - to those who need them!!

I need to join this group. I need to lose about 30lbs to get to where I was happy 2 years ago. Sitting on your butt all day at work will do that to ya.

My problem is, no matter what I do to diet, I can't lose more than 5lbs (that is most likely water weight). I think something may be wrong with my thyroid (yes, I have a doc appt). In the mean time, maybe joining here will help motivate me.

I had a partial thyroidectomy 2 years ago. I only have half a functioning thyroid and I have a scar on the middle of my neck that has yet to fade. I currently am on 125 mg of synthroid and 25mg of cytomel. Which I will have to take for the rest of my life daily to make up for the half they took out during surgery.

If you think its your thyroid i would go to a endocronologist and have tests done, once it is established that you have a deficiency or over active thyroid they can give you medicine to correct it.

and yes you can lose weight with a thyroid problem! I have lost 10 pounds since Jan following weight watchers. you just have to be consistent and work out..even when you are tired! When I overeat I gain weight,,when i work out and eat right i lose weight. Yes I may have to work harder than someone with a normal metabolism but you will see results if you stick with it. I think that the key ...consistency

this thread is great for support! welcome!

I currently am on 125 mg of synthroid
That's what I take, I don't take as much as you though, I believe mine are 25 mg pills, but I am supposed to take one daily. I say supposed to, because sometimes I'm not very good about it.

I have went in May and the weather was gorgeous, crowds were decent. We went the middle of May. One year we were actually in MK on Mother's Day, that was the day we were leaving but it was a late flight so we went to MK. They gave every Mom a carnation. Of course I cried because DS was only and I was preggo with my second. Those hormones will get you every time. We went to the water parks too. It was excellent weather.
Thanks. :thumbsup2
when you say late may are you speaking of just the last half of may or memorial day weekend? the reason i'm asking is i've heard may is actually really nice. i've been in early may and it was AWESOME. i think late may isn't too bad either....except for memorial day weekend. i know that some of our peeps have been in late may. kat? lynda? anyone else? i may be wrong about that though.

christmas is the busiest time but only like the week of and the week after. earlier in december isn't bad at all (at least from what i've heard).

good luck! honestly i think of all your choices that late may would be the best. the crowds will probably be manageable and it'll be hot but nothing like june/july. plus i think the more crowded the park, the hotter it seems!
Just about anytime after the 20th. The kids should be out of school by then. If we go for 2 weeks, then we have no choice but to be there for Memorial Day weekend.

I will be there in May as well staying at the bcv from may 14th leaving the following wed may 21st.

Last year we went may 5th to the 12th and I loved it! better than our time in late october. im hoping for the best going a week later this year.

i will let you know how it is when i return

:thumbsup2

We went the week of May 13 last year, and it was great... warm, but not too crowded. This year we are going May 18-23 so I will see how bad it is...

:thumbsup2

We go in late May every year now. (Our anniversary is May 18th.) It is a GREAT time to go! It is warm, but not like it is June - September. We went in September last year, and the humidity was ten times worse. Crowds are not bad in May, and we stay until the Saturday before Memorial Day, and we usually have no trouble with crowds. (We usually spend that last Saturday doing breakfast at 'Ohana and shopping at DTD.) We also have gone at the end of November/beginning of December twice, and it is a really nice time to go too. It is not crowded then either, the Christmas stuff is up, and the weather is usually in the 60's and 70's. But May is my favorite time to go! :thumbsup2

The only time that we could go in December would be over Christmas. We've done that and now would like to experience going in a warmer month so that we can visit the water parks and pack only shorts, capris and such. Additionally, we're flying this go around and don't want to have to pack for all seasons. Tentatively speaking, I'm looking at May 20th - June 3, 09, which unfortunately would include Memorial Day weekend. However, even that may not be too bad because we're going for 14 days with only 10 day park tickets and so we could avoid the parks altogether during that time. ? Would the first week in June have temps that much higher than late May? I thinking there would be a gradual increase. Thanks for all of your help. Late May into early June looks to be the most probable for us.

and I didn't quote Lynda, but I agree with all of them. We went May 18 -25 last year and had a great trip. It is definitely starting to feel "summery" - plenty warm for water parks, but we didn't have long waits or overwhelming crowds, I didn't think.

I forgot to mention that I took my youngest son to the doctor yesterday and he has both strep throat & the flu. Even the doctor couldn't believe that he had both. He's actually feeling much better today. I'm just thankful that it was caught before it got really bad.

It isn't bad at all, and we'll be there at the same time! We are there the 16-24!

This is really good news. I was a bit worried about it!!

We are used to warm, here in NC... by late May it is usually already hitting 90 occasionally.

Yup, but as this is my anniversary trip I am not sure DH will let me do a peep meet. We may need to sneak one in!! Where are you staying? We have BWV-BW view right now but are waitlisted for BCV. The Sat night before and Fri night after our DVC week may be at CSR, but we may go home on the Saturday this time instead of staying the weekend.

Raises hand... I always do 20, DH tends more toward 25-30...

Just be careful. There is a week in early June that tends to attract a bunch of folks who prefer to date people of the same gender. This doesn't bother me specifically and it may not bother you at all, but just wanted to alert you. Especially if you have young children... it can force you to explain things to them that you may prefer to do when they are a bit older. :goodvibes

I think I am going to get off my lazy butt and hit the gym... hope everyone has a great day!!

Thank you for the positive news! I was on medication years ago that required regular thyroid tests. They always came back fine, but I'm thinking maybe something happened long term. I *think* I have a PPO (I never go to the doctor and my doc is covered, so I totally can't remember if it is HMO or PPO). I'll have to get a recommendation for an endocrinologist in my area.

The good news, is that I'm not gaining anymore. Well nothing accept the same 5lbs that I keep losing.

disneyfav4ever- take your medicine! I worry about you, you know....
I try to remember to take it. I've gotten much better about it since after I graduated. I was horrible about it in college, and especially high school. Apparently whatever's wrong with my thyroid also causes hair loss. I used to have really really thick hair, and while no one can really tell, my hair is starting to get much thinner then it used to be. My doctor just upped my dosage though, so hopefully that will stop my hair loss, and jump start my metabolism.

I don't think you'd see that much higher temps at the beginning of June. We have been there at that time as well. In fact, the dates you mentioned were almost the exact same as our honeymoon back in 2002. And we were there around those same dates in 2005. So we have been there for Memorial Day weekend before. It wasn't that bad on either of those trips. We just like to be there on our actual anniversary now, so we go about a week earlier than we did then. And we use Memorial Day to rest up and do laundry before heading back to work. I that'd be a great time to go! :thumbsup2

The weather we usually experience ranges from the high 70's to the low 90's. Most of the time, it's in the 80's, I think. The humidity is not bad at all usually! I was actually able to straighten my hair several days last May when we were there. (Which is really saying something since my hair's naturally wavy!)

It is our anniversary trip too! :) And actually, we will have two other couples with us. One is my best friend from high school and her husband (who live in Indy now), whose anniversary is the day before ours (They spent their 5-year anniversary at our rehearsal, so we are paying them back!), so it's an anniversary trip for them too. They are driving separately and staying with us for the first 5 nights of the trip. And the other is one of my best friends from work and her husband. Her birthday is May 14th, and her husband is graduating from the University of Illinois on May 10th, so we'll be celebrating those occasions as well on this trip! They are riding down with us and staying in a separate room for the first 5 nights and then moving in with us for the rest of the trip. We have a 1-bedroom savanna view at AKV for the whole trip this time! We are very excited. It's our first stay there and one of our home resorts, and with so much to celebrate, we are really looking forward to it! So we are totally up for sneaking in a Peep meet if you are. Let me know! :) I will be posting a rough itinerary soon-ish. I need to call my friend in Indy and ask her a couple of questions to get a couple things nailed down first.

Hope everyone's having a great weekend!

i just did my taxes.

i owe $1,800 to federal and $400 to state. not good, but could've been worse. now i just gotta figure out how to get the money. :confused3

have you guys heard anything about the tax rebate coming in may supposedly? i heard it's $1,200 for couples. does anyone know how true this is?
