HOCKEYKAT: Whoa girl! You are lookin' good!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:
That really makes it hit home for me, when I see it in pictures, or try on clothes that are suddenly to big! (much better than feeling the clothes get tighter...that is very depressing)

WOW!! Thanks guys!! It really, really means a lot.

Gorgeous! Look how narrow your hips are!
At least sweet potatoes are not empty calories. If you think of food as fuel, they are Premium. So don't feel too bad. That's a pretty good splurge.

So, the worst part of my appt. today was, I had to weigh on the "big" scale, and there was some guy standing there, just staring. I was up 2 lbs. from Monday (different clothes etc) and i told the nurse, "I had a lot of water today!" I was also tempted to mention that I had not had anything close to a "case of the fibers" (God help me, that made me giggle) because I have had so little physical activity this week. So, I guess I better get on the water/fiber bandwagon, or Friday will not be pretty for me.

The water/fiber bandwagon is my life. Although I no longer usually get a case of the "fibers"...

I have actually lost 2.5" off my hips since Feb 2, 2008 (the before is May 07). I credit the switch to the "arc" trainer from the elliptical. I can FEEL the burn in my hips from that sucker.

Sorry to hear about the ear infection. I used to get those all the time. Not fun. Hope you feel better soon!

Thanks for the welcome. I went for a 45 min walk yesterday pulling my 2 year old in her wagon around our neighborhood last night. It was so nice here in the 70's. I am so looking forward to spring.

I bet that is great exercise! Pulling weights around the n'hood... plus it is fun!

It is already spring here... trees are all full of leaves, and it is supposed to be 80 today I think. Reminds me... *takes Claritin*.

In about 1/2 hour I take DD(14) for an MRI. The orthopedist is fairly ertain she has a torn meniscus and will need surgery! We have another appointment with him tomorrow a.m. to go over the MRI and determine whether the surgery is a go. DD just wants to get back to the track team and is very upset that she is very likely out for the whole season. Her knee locked up while running at track practice the day before their first meet (last week). She didn't trip or anything, it just stopped working. Our school district is lucky to have the best track in the entire state. The HS State track meets are always held here, because we have the best conditions. The doctor asked if she tripped on the track surface or anything like that and about what type of surface she was running on. When he heard where she was running, he said well there is no safer surface to run on than that track.

Oh no!! Send her a big  from me.

Good Morning Sunshines!!!!!

Since Fridays are totally cursed, I'm going to take a huge chance and tell you that it's now at-15.0 pounds lost since the 6th!!!!

Tomorrow, we'll see.

To re-cap, here's what I'm doing that I would call "different" than what I did prior to the 6th.

1. Getting along with DH. After a year of marriage counseling and some recent great help with that, we're totally putting each other first. Very lovey dovey. It's funny how the weight is coming off as a result of being truly HAPPY.:confused3

2. Off the hooch! (Hooch=diet Pepsi for you newbs) Ok, I don't mean "Off" but I DO have ONE single can of diet Pepsi Max in the AM to get my motor going. As opposed to three 64 ounce Big Gulps per day!!!!

3. ONE meal each day is a protein shake mixed with water (as per the instructions) but I double it!!!! So it's 50 grams of protein (vanilla snot!) with 12 oz. COOOOLD water. I bought theTwin Labs one for the low sugar, it's not too bad, I guess.

You ROCK!!!!!! :woohoo: FIFTEEN!!!! HOLY CRAP!!!

I know the water is a HUGE reason. I can tell such a difference if I don't down my water. I might need to try this protein shake thing... I bet it would make a great quick lunch. TwinLabs, you say?

You look GREAT Kat!!! I hope one day to see results as obvious as yours! Way to go!! :thumbsup2

It was about 2 days into being very vigilent with WW that this "event" occured..i hope my numbers look good...i still feel puffy though so who knows?:confused3

hahahah ...glad to know that everyone knew right away what " the fibers" was lol!! perhaps you will come down with fibers tonight? It would be good timing for Weigh in..lol!:rotfl:

HA!:lmao:

Holy Moly Wendy...you lost my cat..and a half! Work it mamma!:thumbsup2

Hope all is well..still on the WW wagon..OH does anyone every use there alloted 35 flex points during the week. I have not tapped into them at all yet, but i might a little this weekend since we are going out for Greg's brother's birthday sat. night...just wondering, i mean they give them these big beautiful extra points, i imagine we can use some of them right?? ;)

Okay I had something to add here but work is calling me away... hope that you see pretty numbers!!!

Well, I am on the UtahMama Pumpkin soup diet. That is what I have for lunch every day as a part of my 1500 calorie plan. It really keeps me full, so I don't snack as much in the afternoon. So far the numbers are looking pretty good even though I did cheat over the weekend. We'll see tomorrow.

WOW, HockeyKat! Hot picture! :thumbsup2

Okay, y'all, I posted this in the other thread, and I will put myself out there here as well. Be gentle!

Here is as close as I can get to before/current. Before was probably about 200-205 (about 10-15 down from my highest), and current is 172. I am 5'8".

Thanks!!!

RX, I LOVE UM's pumpkin soup. I think I might make another batch tonight or tomorrow. So good, so low-calorie, SO filling. Yummmmmy.

And I have to say just one more time... GO UM!!! :yay:

Just a quick fly-by to say hello and good-bye. We leave EARLY tomorrow morning for WDW and I probably won't have another chance to say hello.

I am posting my weight as of this morning for this coming Friday's weigh-in weight. I am - .6 as of this morning.

For those who saw my previous post about the "Biggest Loser" contest I entered at the school where I work..... I WON!! I was the biggest loser both pounds and percentages. I walked away with $70. It is in my purse right now and will buy me a nice souvenir this week in Disney.

"Talk" to you all when I get back!.........................P

Congrats on the win!! $70 will get you a nice souvenier from the world. I bet you are having a geat time!!

:worship: That is AMAZING!!! Cograts UM!! Man who knew the hooch was holding you back. It is "diet" so what the cr$p is in it?!

Well, I was sick as a dog yesterday. Not good when you've had gastric bypass and you're pregnant. DH made me go to the doc, and both my OB & GB surgeons think it was GB related, so I'm on liquids today, then ease into soft solids. UGH. I'm ready for some FOOD!!! I'm sure this'll make the scales look pretty come Friday though.

Have a great day, I have a test tonight, so please keep your fingers crossed, or toss some pixie dust my way!

Yikes!! I am glad you are feeling better. It is like adding insult to injury being sick while pregnant. I loved the 4-d sonogram! I still keep one of the pictures on my desk at work and my boys are 2 and 3.

OMG KAT! I had pierogies last night too..and totally thought to myself " i can't believe i have not had you in so long!?" THAT is so funny. I topped mine with a piece of roasted red pepper, lite sour cream and salsa..and i threw some greens underneath just for fun! such a good low cal supper!

:goodvibes YES . he is the best AI contestant ever EVER. I can't get enough of him! I am downloading that one ...we have his others already ...can't wait to buy my IPOD nano tonight and listen away! THAT will definitely get me out walking more often! :)

What is a pierogie? Does it have meat in it? :confused3
:thumbsup2 you are gonna love the ipod!!

i knew it would happen.... :scared1:
as it always has before when i actually obey a healthy HIGH FIBER eating plan for more than 1 day...I got a big ole case of the "FIBERS" today...i do not need to go into details, as i am sure that many of you know EXACTLY what i am talking about..lets just say I thought i was having an appendicitis attack, but i was WAY wrong.
So just a word of caution before you OD on fiber like i think i have been for the last few days..although i have a better chance of seeing a really pretty number on friday...:rolleyes1 :rotfl:

:scared: I know all too well. Friday should be good for you though!

Well Eventer told me about this group. My weight is 165. My goal is 130. Anything else you need to know or that I need to know?

Welcome!!!

Well guys it was actually "warm" in CT today. I would say close to 70. We had long pants on but no coats. :cool1: Yeah spring is coming. By Friday it should be in the 80's. Tomorrow we are going to a local zoo, not big but the kids love it. So look at all that walking I'll be doing :cool1:

I am so glad who won Biggest Loser, I wanted that person to win. I am not saying just in case someone taped it and is watching it tonight.

Enjoy the warm weather. It is nice here today; 70ish. I hope the trip to the zoo is fun for everyone. Thanks for reminding me I need to send back the permission slip for my DS. He has a zoo trip coming up next moth.

Oh NO!! I hope you get good news and surgery won't be needed. So if it wasn't the track and she didn't trip or fall are they saying she just has bad knees? Poor kiddo.

Kat, it was a good workout. My dd is almost 32lbs plus the weight of her wagon. Our n'hood is hilly too.
That pumpkin soup sounds good. Is there a rec. on here for it?

I'm late to the game here, but I've just gotta chime in and say that you look awesome! You can totally see a change in the face (and everywhere else, obviously). Keep that picture handy - I reference my "before and after" picture when I'm stuck in neutral. It helps keep things in perspective a bit.

Hope all is well..still on the WW wagon..OH does anyone every use there alloted 35 flex points during the week. I assume that I use them all. I allow myself one day (typically Friday) where I don't count points and eat pretty much whatever I want (within reason, of course). My "no count" day is when we'll go out for dinner, catch a movie (with a big bucket of popcorn), or get some ice cream after dinner. I'm sure that I use all (or most) of those 35 points on that day.

Just beautiful!!!! You should be really proud!

Kat, it was a good workout. My dd is almost 32lbs plus the weight of her wagon. Our n'hood is hilly too.

Yep!
Low Carb Pumpkin and Sausage soup*

16 oz. turkey sausage or lean sausage country style (not in link form)
1/2 onion, minced or finely chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 T. Italian Seasoning- this really is a good flavor with the pumpkin!
1 C. chopped mushrooms
15 oz. can of pumpkin puree
5 C. low sodium, lower fat chicken broth
1/2 C. lite sour cream
1/2 C. milk or cream

Brown sausage breaking into little pieces, drain fat if any. Add onion, garlic, Italian seasoning, and mushrooms. Saute till vegetables are cooked. Add pumpkin and broth and stir well (I use a whisk). Cook at a low simmer for 30 mins. Remove from heat and stir in sour cream and milk. Other than the sausage browning, this makes a good crock pot meal too. Smells heavenly!

This soup feels like Autumn, but is so yummy and comforting any time of year. It's quite filling too.

Remember a couple of pages ago, when I said that my freezer had died? Well, the repairman just left, and you will never guess what was wrong.....

My DS(4) had turned the thermostat to "off". :rotfl2: I felt soooo stupid! But, I just had to laugh. Good thing I had a service contract on it or I would have paid $60 for them to come turn my thermostat back on.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: We once had a telephone repairman come to our office, because the main console at reception wasn't working at all. $250.00 later discovered the reception had accidently kicked the line out of the jack with her foot!:sad2:

Hello everybody!

It's been PAGES since I've posted, so there's no way I can keep up with that, except to say hello to everyone!

Thanks for posting that picture, Kat - it takes guts! I'd love to see more pictures (which means, of course, I have to do it too - but I have to figure out HOW first!). You look great.

And UM - 15 pounds? That was FAST! Thanks for posting your "reasons why." My DH and I get along pretty well, but we're so busy with kids, work, etc. I'll have to think about how we can put each other first more often.

Pixie - Good luck with your daughter!

Welcome Pooh's mate!

I really like the Pumpkin Soup. Maybe it will go from the Cabbage Soup Diet (have you ever tried it? Heinous) to the Pumpkin Soup Diet. Fame and fortune!

Gina - good luck with the, um, "tummy upset." Yes, that will be euphemism I'll use! My stomach's been in knots for the past two days, which is a good thing as I eat less. Unfortunately it's painful, too. I think it's just a virus going around right now.

To everyone on Weight Watchers - do you think WW is better than just counting calories? I know WW points are based on calories, fat content, fiber, etc., so that nutrition is a part of the program too. Thanks for your opinions.

Good luck tomorrow morning! I think I MIGHT be down 2 pounds, which isn't much when compared to "The Biggest Loser" but is better than gaining 2 pounds. :)

Hi.

Hope everyone is doing fine.

I think I've finally found my way. I had a good week. Today, though I am doing awesome and I think I'm finding my way.

A pass co-worker of mine came back to help me with the daycare and we are both trying to lose weight and I think that really helped.

Just wanted to peak in and say hi and I am still with you all.

School is keeping me crazy busy, I have several threads I need to keep more current with and I think once I get through this semester I may have some more time. I'm still debating about signing up for spring/summer classes.

HockeyKat: Wowzers! You are totally hot! (I can say that without sounding weird right?)

Wendy: Keep rocking! You are my inspiration!

Thanks for the motivation ladies. I have my before picture. Tucked away, somewhere.

I tried one of those SB drink mixes that have the protein in them. They are yummy. I got several free samples from the website. Tropical breeze is very delicious. ANd I am feeling full.

...

YOu look like a different person!! Wow, Kat I am super impressed. You are now my motivation to get to the gym 5 times next week.

Thanks!!! I average about 4 times a week.

A pierogie is a mashed potato stuffed pasta shell, almost like a big mashed potato ravioli. They sometimes have onions and/or cheese combined with the potato.

Kat, it was a good workout. My dd is almost 32lbs plus the weight of her wagon. Our n'hood is hilly too.
That pumpkin soup sounds good. Is there a rec. on here for it?

The pumpkin soup is awesome! I was really skeptical of pumpkin in my food, but even Mr Kat liked it.

It's always fun to combine workouts with other activities! I wish I had a buddy to walk with so that I didn't have to do most of my workouts indoors.

I'm late to the game here, but I've just gotta chime in and say that you look awesome! You can totally see a change in the face (and everywhere else, obviously). I allow myself a day every 2-3 weeks where I do something similar... I think it helps kickstart your system, and also makes it easier to stick to it the rest of the time.

Ah-MAZ-zing! Looks like you're holding hands with the former YOU!

Just beautiful!!!! You should be really proud!

Thanks Beth!!

I ignore Biggest Loser totals. If I was making weight loss my job, I could lose 10 lbs a week too! 2 lbs is a great loss. I aim for 1-2 lbs a week, slow and steady. 10 weeks, 10-20 lbs. No loose skin that way, and it will stay off. Or so I rationalize, anyhow!

WW and calorie counting are similar approaches. It really boils down to which one is easier to you. Points are easier to add up in your head, but in my opinion hard to calculate because they require an extra lookup step. I like math, so adding up calories in my head isn't so bad. Some understandbly find this tedious and irritating.

I also use sparkpeople to keep track of my eating trends and fitness minutes. It is online and free. I am (obviously) a computer junkie (and a programmer by day) so having an online food journal helps me a lot.

WW also has the meetings and support options, where calorie counting is on your own. I use disboards threads as my support group!

Since Fridays are totally cursed, I'm going to take a huge chance and tell you that it's now at-15.0 pounds lost since the 6th!!!!

I hope I don't jinx anything by saying congrats and good job early!!! ;)

I try to walk 45m a day, since the weather is nice. Pushing the stroller up hilll is more work that I thought it would be as well!!! It was 75 degrees here today (the same as in WDW) so we went to the zoo...that's a good 60m. walk through!

So yea i went to a tricky tray last night and guess what I actually won....

Thats right a free one month membership to Curves!!! Im starting May 1st!!

Tricky trays are also called chinese auctions I believe. Its where they have bunches of gifts and you put tickets in to win. They had on as a fundraiser for Aniella's school.

So I put tickets in for every gym, kids place, and vacation LOL

I made the pineapple salsa...and love it. Seasoned and baked a boneless chicken breast for 30 mins. then split it down the middle and filled (and covered) it with the salsa and put it back in the oven for another 15 mins. It was great. Can't wait to try it on other things....like maybe salmon. Actually I thought it would taste great on a big old bratwurst (bun and all) but I best save that for a treat.....after a lose a few pounds.

The pumpkin soup looks interesting. Anyone have any idea on the WW pt. value??

Thanks for the recipe RX. I am going to make it this weekend. I have almost everything for it just have to get a couple of things. It sounds delish.

Anyone have any idea on the WW pt. value??

oh cool! glad you like the pineapple salsa..i find it refreshing with just enough zip! :)

So i was thisclose to going over pts today but then i thought...NOPE not going to do it. I did eat out with my mom tonight at Cosi but i looked up cals and point values online first so i knew what i could get..i chose the signature salad ( sooo good..it has grapes, apples, cranberries, pistachios and some gorgonzola) that was 8.5 pts and ff dressing 1, and i even saved up enough pts today to have their amazing multigrain flatbread which is 5 pts alone!! 14.5 which is ALOT for me for one meal..but i ate like a bird purposely early today to do it..now i am ready for sweet skinny dreams:)
