Ok...what is the 12 x goal formula thingy? This is one I have never heard of....

12 x your goal weight = the amount of calories you should eat every day.

for example, my goal is 130 pounds. so 12 x 130 = 1560. so i try to keep my calorie count around 1500/day. i started at 162 pounds in february of 2007 and i hit my goal weight of 130 pounds in january 2008. IT WORKS!!! add moderate exercise and LOTS of water to that and you've got yourself a weight loss plan! it's the only thing that's worked for me ever. :thumbsup2

Hey Peeps and Body Board Babes--

In my ever-so-slightly inebriated state :lmao: :drinking1 :drinking1 :drinking1 I had an idea... I am getting ready to start spring cleaning and I know I have a bunch of clothes that I am going to be thrilled to part with because they are now too big. :cool1:

Since we are all changing sizes, what do you think of the idea of a clothes swap?

The way I figure it...there are folks here who are going to be thrilled to get rid of their size 14s (for example) while others are going to be just as thrilled to finally be IN a 14. And as much as we would all love to go shopping to celebrate each new smaller size, no one wants to spend a ton of money on "in-between" clothes.

Obviously, we don't want to clutter up our threads and make them seem like eBay, but when someone has some stuff to get rid of, they can just post something like, "I am getting rid of a bunch of size XX clothes...PM me if interested..." and then they can work it out privately and get descriptions of the clothes from there.

Since there is no money changing hands, this is allowable within the posting guidelines of the DIS.

Whattdya think?

Erika :goodvibes

I'm up 2.6. @#*%! Oh well. I've been pretty good on the exercise, but the eating has got to improve. If you only knew how many birthday cupcakes I ate at school this week.:sad2:
DH and I are going to Reno on Wednesday, and I've already told him to pack his workout clothes so we can hit the gym. We are taking breakfast things with us. I'll have to commit now to no buffets. It's so hard, because I'm a cheapskate, and a lot of times the buffets are cheaper than just a simple meal. Help me remember, health is more important than a cheapie dinner.
also, I finished Eclipse today, so I'm feeling kind of down. I hate when I finish a great book. I'll have to find something good to read to tide me over till August 2.:hyper:
DH and I are going to walk to church now. Hope you all are having a blessed Good Friday.

Erika, I like that idea. I have a few size 16s that I think are about to be retired.

I am slightly inebriated as well... after the last two weeks I think I deserve it. I deliberately kept my food calories at 600 so I can drink 600 or so of wine, is that bad thing? I did eat lots of fiber, fruit, and veggies (and lean protein in tilapia), and took my multi-vitamin, and did 50 min on the arc trainer and 100 crunches on the ball....

I'll have to tally tomorrow....baaaaad week Peeps!

Erika- That's a great idea. I'm sure there'll be a lot of interested ladies. I have a multi-sized wardrobe of basics. Anything trendy, i gave to the D.I. (thrift store)

Punkin- where do you write your food down? I love the Calorie King guide and I know there's a food journal from the same company. My goal wt. is 160. Which puts me at 1920 cals. per day. I have such a hard time with that! But, isn't the concept to train your body to maintain your GOAL weight?

This week, I'm writing every bite down. This week was a "samer" week for me, yet, I don't feel like I didn't do anything drastically different. But, those mindless zombie bites of this and that add up, I'm sure. I'll have to start tomorrow, since I had a queazy tummy most of today....thanks MONICA for germing up the internet

Bad week for me too...I gained 1.5! I have not been diligent this week and it showed...no Easter goal for me. Is Memorial Day the next short term goal? I need that one! I have to be slimmer by May 31st! I just GOTTA!!!! :hippie:

I have had a hard time checking in here, but I have to do that too. I miss all of you and don't want to lose touch with you.

Dawn...Glad to hear all worked out at the Dr. I get a similar pain when I ovulate, but only on one side. Guess that's just the way we are made! :confused3

Did Tara have her baby??? I'm sure I missed it if she did! I am sooooo far behind on these boards! I'll catch up later today.

I have all my kids home for Easter, so we are going to Olan Mills to have family pics done. we are all wearing jeans and black tops. It should look good! My grandson is 3 months old in the last one and my new SIL isn't in it at all! I can't wait!!!

OK..off to do my hair and get moving. I'll see ya'll later!!!

I know I am late but I hope you can count mine.I lost 3 lbs this week.:cheer2:

Gotta go-Between three of my kids we have 6 ballgames today.Rachel is soo cute in her tiny softball uniform.:cutie:

Have a great skinny day!!!!

Since we are all changing sizes, what do you think of the idea of a clothes swap?

i think that's a great idea! the only problem is i've already given all my size 14s and 12s to my mom! sorry!!! i just wanted you to know i wasn't ignoring your suggestion. i'm sure the other ladies will want to join in!

when i was writing it down (i don't do it any more - i've gotten so used to it that i just kinda know what i can have and what i can't) i went through 2 food journals. one was a generic one i got at barnes & noble. the other one i got off calorieking.com. if you just go to your local bookstore and go to the dietary section, they'll have some there. they usually have a little chart that makes it easier to keep up with everything.

as far as the concept goes, i'm not sure. you're probably right though because once i got in the mid 130's i haven't gotten back up above that. and sometimes i'm not completely good about what i eat. so i think my body has just sort of adjusted to its new weight now. i'm sure the fact that i did it slow has a lot to do with that.

oh, and i know you hate to hear this, but i think the best thing i did as far as dropping that weight was to cut out sodas and tea. i used to drink diet coke all the time or that diet vanilla blackberry (or whatever it was) pepsi all the time. once i started drinking nothing but water (except in the mornings i have coffee), the weight DROPPED off. i don't know what it is about sodas - you'd think they would have nothing to do with weight loss/gain. anna tells me that she thinks it's that there's so much "stuff" in them and your body doesn't know what to do with it, so it just kinda slows down everything and doesn't cleanse your body as well as water.

Did Tara have her baby??? I'm sure I missed it if she did! I am sooooo far behind on these boards! I'll catch up later today.

i'm not sure. i got a text from her last saturday and my phone wouldn't upload it, which makes me think it was a picture of the baby. i sent her an e-mail the next day and she hasn't responded to it yet. i called her last night to see how everything was and if she'd had him yet. she didn't answer so i left her a message. i'm sure she's very busy being a new mommy right now! i'll let you guys know when i hear from her!

oh, i forgot something.

i have a question for those of you who have gone to disney at christmas.....i read somewhere that tickets for MVMCP go on sale on may 1st. well, i know that hours for the parks won't be out until the beginning of june. so how do you know which night you want to buy if you don't even know what the hours are? :confused3 i may be jumping the gun and worrying over nothing because i'm sure if the parties sell out, they don't do so until at least late summer. i'm just worried that my luck will be that i won't buy the tickets until i see the park hours and then the night i want will be sold out.

That's a great idea except I don't have any skinny clothes. I never kept those clothes because I haven't seen that in a loooooooooooooong time.

Where they chocolate?

Something happened with my computer and it posted my quotes without my responses to I decided to edit my post and it won't let me edit so I am redoing them. Sorry for the double post.

Hi Gayle

I have all my kids home for Easter, so we are going to Olan Mills to have family pics done. we are all wearing jeans and black tops. It should look good! My grandson is 3 months old in the last one and my new SIL isn't in it at all! I can't wait!!!

Make sure you post pictures

I saw on Good Morning America a couple of weeks ago that artificial sweenters actually make you gain weight over a period of time. I do coffee in the morning too and then one can of diet caf free pepsi at night during dinner but water the rest of the time.

I was at that store a few weeks ago. I love it, a REAL DISNEY disney store. We ordered some of the customized artwork - now I just have to hang it on the wall. I also got a sleep shirt on sale for $7.

I'm a SAMER this week. I pretty much figured I would be with last weekend's boozefest and then I went out for a few beers with DH last night. I bet if I had stayed home I would have shown a loss, but oh well, it will be there next week and I do enjoy spending time with DH outside the house.

I met my exercise goals for last week - at least 3 days of exercise. 2 of the days on our weekend trip we walked around the town - at least a mile each day. And I was on the treadmill 3 nights this week.

Hey Peeps!

Hope everyone has a great easter tomorrow! I have to look back at the thread but is there going to be another challenge soon? Maybe memorial day challenge or we can do a cinco de mayo..i like the challenges I feel like they are working for me.

I went to the disney store yesterday I only got enchanted on dvd. Usually they have cool hoodies and tee shirts but this time I didnt see anything i liked...which was a shame cuz Rob( my fiance) handed me a $100 dollar bill and said "Have fun!" Figures right..I had the $ but couldnt find anything!

I have to agree with Punkin...once I cut out Diet. Snapples and Diet soda and just drank water the weight started to come off as well!

also how do you guys multi quote in a post..i have been on the dis for a year and I never can figure out how to do it.

i think you are absolutely fine in waiting it out till they release park hours..we went last December and the party we chose was even on a Friday and it wasn't sold out even on the day of..so i think you will be ok in waiting :)

I agree with punkin... 64+ oz of plain water seems to really make a difference. I do drink diet sodas, but in moderation (one with lunch, 1-2 in the evening, and sometimes some of the clear caffeine free flavored waters). But I don't count any of that in the 64 oz.

I do keep my calories quite a bit lower than the 12xgoal would suggest. However, I shoot for 1200 recorded calories and rather assume that another 100-200 is "built in"... labels are wrong, I fudge my numbers a bit, etc.

I also try to get the most food for my calories. Lots of fresh fruits and veggies, and the lowest calorie substitions that I can find, but still with a dash of fat in here and there (cheese, etc.) so that I am not completely bored with it.

I have also noticed a difference when I have been paying more attention to fiber grams. When I get more than 25 a day I feel fuller and it also seems to help the scale move some. Yeah, Fiber One tastes like tree bark, but choking down 1/2 cup of it in the morning seems to have helped my efforts lately.

I have been following this plan, combined with 3-5 days of at least 30 min of cardio, since my 2008 restart on Feb 2, with one cheat night to eat/drink whatever I wanted. And as of this morning I am down 18 lbs and almost back to my lowest 2007 weight. So I am going to infer that maybe it works.

This post is for Twilight series fans. First, thanks for steering me there, UM and Spongie. Second, I wanted to say, if you are looking for some reading to kill time until August, Alice Hoffman's books are similar. Here on Earth is a modern retelling of Wuthering Heights, which figures so prominently in Eclipse. Second Nature is about a psychologist who falls in love with a man raised by wolves. Practical Magic and Aquamarine were both made into movies. Aquamarine is one of her young adult novels, but the others I mentioned are a little more mature. All of her stories combine the supernatural and natural worlds, and many include some kind of mystery as well as romance. Right now, I am going to go back and reread the first book of hers that I read, Turtle Moon. It's been fifteen years, but I remember so vividly loving the mix of supernatural within everyday lives.

I wouldn't post on the Twilight Discussion Thread that appeared today, because they were snarky about newbies:snooty: . Excuse me if I can't take a trip in a time machine to go back to the first release of Twilight. Does that make the delight I take in reading these books any less?

Well, first of all...weigh in info - I'm up 1 lb. :guilty: I seem to be hovering around the same weight again. I need to change something up next week. DH got a small weight bench, so I may have to try that out once we get it put together. Sorry I'm late posting, but we have had a crazy week around here!

At work, I moved into my new work space. My promotion has officially happened, and I have started learning my new job duties as well as teaching my old ones to the person who will be taking over my old position. It's been nuts, but a LOT of fun!

DH and I have been hard at work on the house. I think we are really close to getting everything in order. We have to work on another closet tomorrow, but it's looking really good. On April 6th, we are going to Ikea to get our bed, another dresser, and a book case for the "gym". Once we get those put together, we should be pretty much ready for the lia sophia party I'm having on 4/19. :thumbsup2 I can't believe how much stuff we've gotten rid of! It's amazing what you can accumulate, and we've only been in this house for 4 years!

And we had to speed up our cleaning process and get a LOT done this week because I found out on Thursday that I had someone coming over TODAY to discuss having me photograph their wedding this July. It was a friend of a girl I work with, and the girl I work with would be coming as well. So one person I've known for about three and a half years who has never been to my house and another person who's a total stranger and who wants a wedding photographer came to my house today, and it needed to look good. We spent the last two nights furiously doing laundry, picking up various little bits of clutter, and hanging artwork. And I worked on our master bathroom, cleaning out the cabinets and drawers under our sink and generally decluttering. And today I had the appointment, and I now have my first paying wedding job!!! And this is me -> :woohoo: :scared1: I am really excited, but I'm also nervous because this is my first wedding for someone I don't really know. I have a lot of prep to do! I just like to feel prepared for these things, of course, and I like to improve every time I do this. I have time though, and I'm really excited!!! :yay:

Anyway, I hope everyone's having a great weekend. Happy Easter!

Alrighty, this here's the last shameless plug from me and my lousy TR, which ended tonight!

:sad1: Geez, I'm both sad and glad it's over. I'm sad because there's no trip being planned to take away the sting of missing this trip.

Hi Lynda! You will do fabulously photographing that wedding! I really miss you, my friend!

Dweatl- I also started a Twilight thread a while back and it's friendly. Remind me and I'll link you up. Good book suggestions. I need to get lost in a good book.

HockeyKat- Your plan is great. I need to do what you do. You're an inspiration!

LMO429- You are so right! I KNOW I need to drink less diet soda and more water. Especially since I "samed" this week. :sad2:

Evening peeps. I'm sitting here alone with my doggie on my lap feeling guilty because I was bad today--ate one meal out and it was fish and chips. I'm just really discouraged about the weight. I'm exercising faithfully and can feel the muscles building and am very proud of myself for that. There's definitely less jiggly in my wiggly these days. But the weight is not going down. I've been pretty much the same for 4 months and I'm tired of eating so restrictive when it's not making a difference (and I only drink water anyway so that's not a problem for me). So starting tomorrow, I'm going to write down what I'm going to eat the following day. Make a written plan a day ahead and sticking to it. I hope that helps me cut a few more calories out to get rid of this last 10 lbs.

Danielle, I have read all of Hoffman's books years ago. I'd forgotten about them until you mentioned them.

I hope everyone has a great Easter.
