All right, just gotta say that I finally got around to watching the final Sopranos episode last night. I wasn't as disappointed as others, but I felt a little empty inside afterwards because I was expecting so much out of the finale and it just didn't deliver. Are we free to discuss it yet?

The Journey song "Don't Stop Believing"??? It seemed out of place, but for those that overthink it, it gives hope. It literally was chosen at the last minute I heard. :confused3

I also heard there's talk of maybe doing a pre-quel type series or movie (I forgot which) that would be set in the 60's. Inter-esting...

Hey U Mama I hope you're feeling better today ;)

How ARrrrRRrgh you doing? (Pirates3 reference)

A little better after drinking a can of "Headache be Gone". I bought a big selection of Crystal Lite last night so I hope this works!

Thank you for askin'!

Aries- did you get the Alli???? I'm watching YOU before I buy it. If you have just ONE oily fart, I'm out! :scared1: I've researched and researched and I need to wait and see what others say. I know that's dorky, but I'm scared of it I guess!

PUNKIN....Last night my mom was telling me the whole story about Woody the dog that advertises for Trickett Honda on Gallitan Rd. Do you know this dog? He drives the cars in the ads? Anyway, he died last week and it was the lead story on the Nashville news! Mom sent them a sympathy card. :goodvibes

actually, i have no clue who woody the dog at trickett honda is!!! but gallatin road runs through hendersonville and the rivergate mall area and into madison/nashville. so that's probably why i've never heard of him. i'm sure my family knows him though! and how cute that your mom sent them a sympathy card!

we've given it two days, so let's discuss. IF ANYONE DOES NOT WANT TO READ A SPOILER, SCROLL DOWN NOW!!! all i have to say is WHAT WAS THAT?????? ray and i, likes most people that watched it, just looked at each other blankly at the end. nothing in the entire episode led up to anything! i don't get it. i realize they were trying to be artistic and to make a point that "life goes on" or whatever, but come on! you've let down your loyal fans!!!! TONY SOPRANO WAS SUPPOSED TO DIE!!!! :lmao: sorry. i get kinda carried away.

ray read that all the people that came into the diner (who you thought were possibly gonna whack tony or his family) were all in the episode earlier, you just didn't notice them. so any one of them could have whacked him. i guess that's the point: he can get taken out at any moment by anyone. but i wanted to see it!

i've also heard the theory that the reason the screen went blank is because the viewers got whacked. at some point in an earlier episode someone said that everything goes black when you die. so i can see that.

the only cool part was that i think chris was reincarnated as the cat and that's why he was staring at his picture. i thought it was funny how it was freaking pauly out!

If you have just ONE oily fart, I'm out! :scared1:

:rotfl2: that comment could only be made on this thread without offending anyone!!!!

I am not sure it is out yet...the 15th I though? Maybe I am wrong.....I am waiting too. letting her be my guinea pig ;)

Not much new here today. Got too much sun yesterday and feel a bit crispy today. Not burned really because I am not red, but my skin feels weird. Who knows. I am so tired too. Gonna be a long week if I am tired and it is only tuesday! I think it was my power cleaning episode yesterday that did me in :lmao:

Ok...we can finally discuss! My hands were sweating during that last scene..just waiting for something to happen. I thought Meadow would be spared b/c she was having trouble parking the car. But what I think it meant was that life goes on...it isn't realistic for Tony to go straight based on what we know about him (selfish/greedy) Granted he could have been knocked off but that was WAY too predictable. So I think the only other way to do it was to show that nothing changes. That on the outside they look like a normal family. That they can go out to dinner and act fine even when they know what their family stands for. But as for the screen going black..that was super annoying!! DH and I thought the satellite had gone out!! :rotfl: I hated the ending but I don't know what else they could have done?? :confused3 I never thought about Christopher being the cat!! Good thought!! If that was the case he should have clawed Tony's eyes out for killing him!! :lmao:

me too!!!

But as for the screen going black..that was super annoying!! DH and I thought the satellite had gone out!! :rotfl:

us too, again!!!

i think what annoyed me the most is the unresolved issues. what happened with dr. melfi? i was expecting more from that. what happened with silvio? did he die? i wasn't expecting tony to come clean, but at the very least i did want him to be outed to his family about what a scumbag he is. i think that was my biggest disappointment.

here's a short article about the cat theory (from msn.com):

And the cat came back: So many viewers thought the reason Paulie Walnuts remained unhurt going into this episode was because he was the Soprano family traitor. But Paulie didn't do anything against the family in this episode, although he did tell Tony he was less than thrilled about being asked to head up Ralph's old crew (he eventually agreed, reluctantly). Even more Paulie-like, however, was a plotline in which the rest of the crew adopted a stray cat that hung around the safe house. Only Paulie noticed how the cat stared and stared at Christopher's portrait. Tony wouldn't let Paulie whack the cat, but was it Chrissy reincarnated, specially to bug his old Pine Barrens partner, Paulie? Nine lives indeed.

OK can you all slow down a little!! Whey I can't keep up. Eatting my yoplait light yogurt. Keylime flavor is not so bad! 100 caloires and and I can't eat the whole thing will wat the rest for snack.

OK I am slowly climbing back on thew wagon yes I know my butt takes a bit to get up there on that wagon but I am back in the game!!!

Happy Tuesday all!

Hi Peeps! I had a really good breakfast and it was so simple. I have low cal bread (2 slices=1pt) and I made cinnamon toast with splenda mixed with cinnamon and spray butter on the bread. It was so yummy! My mom use to make cinnamon toast for my brother and I when we were little so it is comfort foodish for me.

Thanks to all who responded about my book question. I will be going to the library sometime this week and I am armed with some good suggestions!:thumbsup2

Has anyone seen Ocean's 13 yet? It is playing at our drive in and I think DH and I are going tonight to see it.

Does anyone watch Top Chef on Bravo?:happytv: The new season starts soon and I love that show!

I hope everyone has a great day!

Actually, I think we got a lot of closure. Dr Melfi dismissed Tony, and he was forced to move on. (Notice how he was spilling his guts to AJ's shrink? Dr Melfi wanted nothing to do with him, so he was using the new shrink as an outlet.) Silvio, I agree we could have gotten a little more on him. And I think Tony's family already knows what kind of man he is. Meadow said that the reason she isn't a doctor is because of how often he was dragged away by the FBI. AJ is well aware that his dad isn't really in the waste management business. And Carmella has mentioned several times in the past about Tony's other women. Paulie ended up taking the captain's job, even though he didn't want it. That pretty much cemented his place in the Soprano crime family. Finally, peace was made between NY and NJ (I am SO glad Phil got whacked!).

I've read a few different theories on the ending, and frankly all of them make sense. The first theory I read is that Tony got whacked by the guy who went into the bathroom, and they explained that the screen going black is how Bobby described dieing when he was on the fishing boat with Tony earlier this season. "Black, silent... nothing.” Makes sense, right?

The second theory I read is that the whole scene revolved around Tony popping his head up every time someone came into the diner. Every time he did that, he had the look of "oh crap, who's coming in now" on his face for a split second. And this is how he has to live every day of his life, never knowing if the person coming in that door is friend or foe. And to me, it is the same with Meadow taking so long to park her car. Such a simple, mundane task like parallel parking can be made tense when your family is involved with the things that hers is involved in.

But really, this show has never been about bloodshed and gore. It has been about family, and how their lives are impacted by their involvement in organized crime. Yes, some blood was spilled over the years, but that has never been the focus of the show. So I am leaning towards the 2nd theory, because in the end the family was together, and just trying to enjoy the moment before Tony goes to trial because of his family's business.

It goes on sale tom. or Friday and I will have it by then and start and keep you posted!!

i kind of edited your post to respond just to respond to certain things. i agree with pretty much everything else you said though.

Dr Melfi dismissed Tony, and he was forced to move on. (Notice how he was spilling his guts to AJ's shrink? Dr Melfi wanted nothing to do with him, so he was using the new shrink as an outlet.)

i thought it was kinda funny how that aj's shrink just kind of smiled and nodded to everything tony said. as far as dr. melfi goes, that was just such a big part of the story, especially when the series first started. i just expected more to happen with their relationship.

And I think Tony's family already knows what kind of man he is. Meadow said that the reason she isn't a doctor is because of how often he was dragged away by the FBI. AJ is well aware that his dad isn't really in the waste management business. And Carmella has mentioned several times in the past about Tony's other women.

but meadow also said that she thought the reason the FBI was dragging her dad away is because they were biased against italians and that's why she wanted to get into law, to defend the innocent....implying that she thinks her dad is innocent when we know he's very guilty. i was hoping that tony's family would learn the details of his wrongdoings, i.e., that he was responsible for killing of adriana and christopher. i agree that they are aware that he's not the most honest and moral guy around.

The first theory I read is that Tony got whacked by the guy who went into the bathroom, and they explained that the screen going black is how Bobby described dieing when he was on the fishing boat with Tony earlier this season. "Black, silent... nothing.” Makes sense, right?

definitely! and thanks for clearing up who said that....i couldn't remember who it was! i just wish we could've seen tony get whacked (if that's what happened). does that mean that i have a sick, morbid side??? :rolleyes1

The second theory I read is that the whole scene revolved around Tony popping his head up every time someone came into the diner. Every time he did that, he had the look of "oh crap, who's coming in now" on his face for a split second. i agree. i think this is definitely what they were going for. i guess i just need visual closure or something!

sorry to the non-soprano fans for hijacking the thread!!!

Hey ladies! Getting funky yet?

I just got a woo hooty on my own TR. Ha!

I finished, it took forever, but I'm done. I know it's not as good as the Sopranos, or the Big Fat Disney Trips, but if your curious to see how it ended, be my guest.

I got to see my Matt graduate elementary school today. I felt like an idiot crying but I blammed it on my hormones. I can't even watch a school program without getting all sappy.

So, he's now a middle schooler. Yea Matt!:cheer2:

And I'm off to start reading Jo's Pre TR.
Just skim over all the chatter, it's up to 50 pages  Thanks for reading though

OMG, why do I do that?..... type and type away, like you all have all this free time to read my random mumblings? Sorry.
You're fine ramble away :)

The unfortunate after-effect of my overplanned weekend appears to be a nice case of hives.
Ouch hope they ease soon!

MCDONALD'S FRIES
Think of all the fat and salt in those fries :scared:

I'm not sure this is my best 'before and after' example, but I WAS wearing the same outfit in both pics, so I thought I'd use it for now.
Definate difference all over, well done :thumbsup2

I hope it burns itself out during the night, but I am guessing that there is still an awful lot of fuel there :sad2:
Hope the fire goes out soon and it doesn't affect you!

I was off to bed and saw that I am at 999 posts!! So of course I had to come back to this thread to post #1000!!!! :cool1:
Whoooohoooooo:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Hi Ladies!

I've been busy here at work, so I am just getting a chance to drop by! Here are a few thoughts of mine from the quick catching up I just did:

Vin Deasel...He's OK, not my type though :confused3
Sopranos...Never watched it even though I am from NJ! :confused3
Harry Potter Books...Definitely read them!!! I was totally involved in those books and can't wait for the next one!!! (Loved the movies too!) :cool1:
McDonald Fries...Love them!!! However, I only eat them once in a blue moon!
Lynda's Before/After Photos...YOU LOOK MAHVELOUS!!! (in my best Billy Crystal voice!) :woohoo:
Alli...To Take or Not To Take. That is the question! (Not sure "oily farts" is worth it.):confused3
Cinnamon Toast...Definitely a comfort food and so darn tasty! :thumbsup2
PEEPS...Chatty bunch who are always here when I need a lift! Thanks! :thanks:

OH thank God you have not all jumped 10 pages since this morning! Yippeee!

OK Sopranos too funny with the sugggested poissibilites!

Top Chef love it and Hell;s kitchen too.

I think I enjoy seeing folks make some culinary mishabs, ahhhhhhhhhhhh who is kidding here I love to watch food!

Was catching the disney cruise show actually shocker of all DH told me it was on and HE was watching it?????

OK who took my DH???

Also huge gratiude and thanks for all the kind thoughts and prayers for my mending.

I think I must be feeling better or I just can't tkae the condition of my house. DH has been helping in a huge way.

I can happily say my diet can start on the return. I was required to eat starches it is easiet for the bod to breakdown! Just sticks on everything like glue right on me!

SO hooray I am starting to reintroduce a few things this week, to think I would be tickled to be able to eat asparagus???

Has anyone seen Ocean's 13 yet? It is playing at our drive in and I think DH and I are going tonight to see it.

I am hoping to see it soon too!! I might have to wait until it comes to the "dollar theater" near me. That's the theater where the movies go when the leave the reg. theater either b/c their run is over or they tanked!! :rotfl: The theater is just as nice but admission is like $2.

I just watched A Fan's Guide to WDW. It was cheesy but cute!

We ended up not going to the drive-in tonight. It was too hot! Tara, I would love to have a dollar theatre near us. The closest one is an hour away!

okay......I PROMISE......this will be my last sopranos-related post! :guilty:

one of my friends posted this on myspace and i thought i'd share since we were just talking about it. i didn't write this, so if you disagree (or agree), don't take it out on me! ;)

In fact, the ending was genius if you've paid attention to the show or are just a fan of well developed well thought out plots that all tie together and have the memory of a champ to remember it all the ending was simple, he got killed, but let me tell y'all why and explain in detail... There was 4 people in the room total who had a reason to kill tony.....

The two black guys were paid before to kill Tony when his mother put a hit out on him but he was clipped in the ear in Season One.

The trucker at the booth near Tony was the brother of a Trucker, Christopher killed in DVD player robbery. We last saw the brother when he went to identify his dead brother's body.

And lastly, from the earlier seasons, the Italian man who was sitting at the counter stool, who the camera kept focusing in on, is Nikki Leotardo, Phil Leotardos nephew. He was in one of the early season episodes where Phil and Tony have a sit down....

Here is where the genius comes in....

When Tony walks into the Holston's, you see the camera focus on him, then it switches to his perspective, and you see him looking @ the booth hes gonna sit at...

Then the camera switches back to Tony's face, then it once again
switches to his perspective, and it shows him looking @ the door and looking @ the people come in..... Everytime the door opens the chimes sound.......

Carmela walks in, Chimes.
AJ walks in, Chimes.

This all happens while Meadow is parallel parking, still trying to get inside the restaurant....

At this point the camera switches back to Nikki Leotardo who goes in the bathroom...

Then it goes to a scene where Meadow finally parks and starts running into the diner...

The door is about to open, Tony looks up...

and No Chimes...

No Music...

Everything just goes black...

In one of the early episodes of the Sopranos, Tonys is talking with Bobby about what it must feel like to die.

Bobby says, "at the end, you probably dont hear anything, everything just goes black!"

This idea was revisited in the second to last episode during the
last seconds of it, when Tony is about to go to sleep and he flashes back to the memory of him and Bobby on the boat... "You probably dont hear anything everything just goes black"

So in the end, the Journey song was playing, the chimes on the door sounded but when Meadow came in, someone killed Tony.

This is the reason you didn't hear or see sh!t when he died.... it was from his perspective... and everything went black, then the credits.
