DISappearing Peeps...A fastpass to THIN! Part 4

Hi Peeps!:) I just had a Southwest chicken salad from McDonald's for lunch. I hadn't had it before and I really liked it! If you haven't tried it yet I highly reccomend it!:thumbsup2

So, today was my Dr. appt to discuss my ultrasound and bloodwork. He said that I had a few small cysts on my ovaries and they weren't anything to be worried about. My bloodwork also came back fine. He is putting me on progesterone (sp?) to jumpstart my cycle. Hopefully, this works. He did say that it can have some bad side effects. Kind of like PMS'ing for two weeks. That should be fun for my DH:lmao: ! Has anyone been on this before or know anything about it? :confused3

Also, I want to go to the library and get some books. I love being able to read non-teacher books over the summer. Any suggestions of books or authors?

I hope everyone is having a great day!:)

I am of no help when it comes to gynecological stuff (but I'm glad to hear that the cysts weren't anything to worry about)... but books I know! What do you like to read -- romance, mystery/suspense, hard fiction, non -fiction, thought provoking, mindless... I could go on and on...

  • For romance I highly suggest -- Julia Quinn, Christina Dodd, Nora Roberts
  • Mystery/Romance -- Catherine Coulter
  • Mystery -- Agatha Christie is classic, John Grisham, Sue Grafton
  • More recent/best seller -- anything Nicholas Sparks (watchout for the tears), The Davinci Code (Dan Brown and anything else he's written), The Kite Runner (very thought provoking and current!)
  • Classic -- Pride and Predjudice, Emma

As I said -- I could go on and on! If there is a specific genre that you like, I might be able to give you more... (Did I mention that I like to read??:rolleyes1 )

Thank you for the suggestions! I like mysteries (as long as they aren't really gory or weird). I like romance and light chick lit (Devil Wears Prada, The Nanny Diaries). John Grisham is one of my favorites. I am open to a lot of things (I don't do sci fi, horror, or anything that is too dark). Thank you so much!

Maybe I am weird but I like all the VC Andrews books beginning with Flowers in the Attic.

i actually liked "angels and demons" by dan brown more than "the da vinci code." my sister told me to read it first and i liked it more! it was one of those books i just couldn't put down.

also, about nicholas sparks, i know there's gonna be a lot of disagreements here, but when i read "at first sight" (which is the only nicholas sparks book i've ever read), i really TRIED to like the heroine, but i just COULDN'T!!! and because of that the story just didn't do much for me. my best friend loves him though. so to each their own!

Love book discussion!!

I totally agree that Angels and Demons is the far better book, but Da Vinci Code is what hooked me on his writing!

I think you either love Nicolas Sparks books or hate them. I actually prefer them as books on tape or cd -- they are in such a conversational style that they just appeal to me more when I listen to them. Try "A Bend in the Road" or "The Rescue" -- some of his best!

Dawn-My favoirte Nicholas Sparks book is actually his autobiography. He wrote about his life and it intertwined with a trip that he took with his brother. It was really interesting and after you read it you can see how he comes up with a lot of his stories.

I second "The Rescue"!:thumbsup2

I really liked Devil Wears Prada and The Nanny Diaries... you might try either of the Bridget Jones novels -- they are hillarious. I also remembered that I loved Memoirs of a Geisha -- significantly better than the movie (but aren't most books).

I have to say Julia Quinn really is my favorite -- you get a bit of mystery, some romance, humor, the whole package! The Bridgerton series is great!

On more of a personal note, I have been thinking about something that has to do with my DBF for the whole morning so I thought I would ask for some input/advice.
I read your post and I thought you seemed worried about the lack of a job, could you encourage him to find something he enjoys doing or find an incentive to work like a vacation or something? As others said don't worry about the kid situation!

So I got an email back from my uncle and he said MY DAD changed the date of the service.
Sending you a

i forgot about the bridget jones books.......those are SOOOOOOO FUNNY!!!! peeps especially can relate since she's trying to lose weight throughout the entire book. in the second book, she considers the best thing about being in prison the fact that she's lost weight! :lmao: i would be laying on the couch reading those books and start laughing out loud and DH would just look at me like i was crazy. he's not a reader!

by the way, there's a show on food network right now where they're making cakes themed to disney villians....DANCE you could be on there!!!

I saw this show, after getting a cryptic message from my friend..."Food Network. 10:00"! :rotfl2: I had no idea what was on, but was really glad she called me to tell me it was on! I loved the top 2 and totally agreed with the Captain Hook one winning! Do they throw all that cake out afterwards or can the audience eat it???? :confused3 Seems like a waste if it goes in the garbage. (All except "Scars head" that hit the floor!) :rotfl:

Had a busy weekend with work Sat & Sun, then a bowling party with work Sun night. We had alot of fun and ate more food than I should have, but really could have been worse with the Buffalo Wings...they were delish!!!

Going home after work today to work in my garden planting a few plants and putting down mulch. The kids did all the weeding yesterday and I just need to finish today.

Jo...Glad you noticed the fire and everyone is safe! :hippie:

Dance...Great cakes! The Ariel one is my favorite. (I'm not a Dora fan! :confused3 )

UMama...Hope you are feeling better.:flower3: I always drink gingerale and eat dry toast or saltines which usually helps for a little while.

Melinda...DH is ok after the angiogram..thanks for asking.:cutie: He has some blockage but nothing terrible at this time. Hopefully excercise and diet can prevent further problems. How is it with only two 7yo in your house instead of the girls too? Less drama??? ;)

OK...I really need to do some work here. BBL :wave2:

OOOHHH! I almost forgot!!!

My author choices are Nora Roberts, Suzanne Brockman, JD Robb (aka Nora Roberts)-these are mysteries that take place in the year 2059 or there abouts-Sandra Brown and I did like the DaVinci Code by Dan Brown. (Never read Angels & Demons.)

OK...that's just my 2 cents!!! :goodvibes

I liked Angels and Demons better as well. The other one was pretty good..I can't remember the name of it but it starts off in the Artic I think.

I am assuming you have read the Harry Potter books? Don't laugh..some people haven't!!
I like Tami Hoag as well. Her newest book stunk but if you go back 10 years she has some great thrillers. Guilty as Sin is her best!

P.S. I talked to my dad about why he changed the date and he said he didn't..just that he didn't want it Sat. afternoon b/c he had to work. Oh the drama!! I am washing my hands of it all as of now!!!

I have tried to catch up on all the weekend posts and have come to the conclusion that we "talk" too much!!:lmao: It's almost impossible to miss a day around here isn't it?

Plus not to mention getting distracted with TR's like Punkins and Melinda's And I'm off to start reading Jo's Pre TR. So I may never get caught up, LOL.

I just wanted to tell Dance that your cakes our FABULOUS !!! Lexie saw them and has asked if we can make them both for the fun of it. I have made the Barbie one for Caylin twice when she was little but never thought of doing any other characters. You are so creative !!! Thanks for the ideas. I got the new Womans Day mag the other day because of the summer cake on the cover with the bears ( have you seen it?) and I'm going to attempt to recreate it. If we do, then I will def post pics. It uses blue jello to make the ocean, and teddy grahams, and different candies for things. I think i can do it, i'm just a little skeptical about the ocean.

Anywho, I really need a kick in the hiney today !!! I have done NOTHING. We took Brandon to the airport Friday came home, napped and went to Mc Donald's, I had a cheeseburger happy meal with apples ( did good) and then some air popped pop corn with our movies later. Saturday I didn't feel very good because Aunt Flo was visiting and when I decide to eat, it was only a few crackers and a banana. Yesterday I pigged out.... greasy chili for lunch and then sauteed chicken breast with homemade tortellini and homemade alfredo sauce. But, I have been good today and made healthy choices and walked on the treadmill as it was already too hot at 9 am to walk around the lake. Usually when Brandon is gone we eat fast food A LOT. So far, it's only been Mc D's Friday and that's it, soooo maybe, weigh in on Friday will be good for me.

OMG, why do I do that?..... type and type away, like you all have all this free time to read my random mumblings? Sorry.

Okay well, I 'm off the library with the girls. And I'm taking a list of the authors that were suggested.

Have a great evening/afternoon and I will check in later.

duncanssweetie, I read all your ramblings. :goodvibes Rambling posts make me feel better because I feel like I ramble too...

I like all the book suggestions! Going to have to try out Julia Quinn...

The unfortunate after-effect of my overplanned weekend appears to be a nice case of hives. I am feeling the culprit is the sunscreen I used on Saturday, because they started appearing Sat afternoon. I used some Off! Sunscreen because they had some at the Habitat site. Coincidentally, the hives are appearing mostly in the areas where I applied it.

We did go to the water park yesterday and I used Bull Frog sunscreen. However, I use that all the time w/ no effect, plus they started Sat so I doubt that one could be the culprit.

Maybe I didn't notice the hives as much because we were in the water all day yesterday, but today is more than a bit uncomfortable.

Hello Peeps!

I need a BOOSTER SHOT! I had been doing really good with my fast food addiction- my daily travels to dance classes for the girls were at a close and the temptation wasnt there - But the other night as I was driving to work those darn MCDONALD'S FRIES magnetically pulled my car to the drive through. Did ok that night- I just didnt eat my "snack" at work. Since then, I've been to the drive thru 2 more times!!!:scared:

I'm like that on the weekends...it's tough. For me it's b/c I am hungry and don't want to wait for something to cook. Esp. in the summer when it's hot!! don't sweat over it...just do better to resist next time! :goodvibes

Hey everyone..have a great week..i am off to the WORLD tommorow a.m.!! woohoodily doodily!

Hey Peeps! :) I am SO far behind! I have had a busy weekend, and I don't know if I've read since Saturday! :scared1:

I'll have to catch up, but I thought I'd post a couple of pics while I was thinking about it. This is one from May '06.

I'm not sure this is my best 'before and after' example, but I WAS wearing the same outfit in both pics, so I thought I'd use it for now.
