So I am not alone with the older kids driving us crazy. No wonder I found my first grey hairs this month. My boys are 11 and 9.

Ok looks like I'm getting tile today. But we are more squished. The kitchen will be off limits for at least a week.

That is my living room at the moment. Behind where I was standing is this.

Here's the progress so far: This is the kitchen before we took anything out. Messy I know. I moved the TV over so we can put up the tree tonight. I have boxes and baskets everywhere!

Here's today with all the tear outs and the concrete board laid. Look how big it's going to be!

YEAH!! :cool1: At least you can see what it is going to be. The tile was the tile was the hardest part of our add on. The had toi break up and grind 90 sq. feet and then lay 600 sq. feet. That dust was everywhere- I have found it still settling in places and they finished in August.

Guess what, still working, still behind, the internet is so slow - cant respond - but love the pictures - and boy do I have a dd story - talk about drama - and then I lol at the shower - my brother used to run the water and sit on the toilet singing - when he got yelled at, he was done - not a drop of water would touch him LOL and my middle son - dont get me started on that phenom!! roflol!! (he only showers when someone reminds him to shower!! roflol!! You think he wouldnotice his greasy hair - nope!)

Tell me about slow internet at work :headache: We are having problems at work and they do not know how to fix it. I am lucky if a page will actually load at work. BY the time I get hoome I am exhausted and go to bed.

I lost 1 pound.

GOOD MORNING! :sunny:

I'm so sorry I've been so late and far behind the last couple of weeks. Hope everyone is well. Apologies to trip report writers....I'm way behind on all my subcriptions. Just a busy time of year.

I saw some big bright numbers yesterday! Congratulations to the big losers! :cheer2:

Monica! Your remodel looks fabulous! Wow! I'm jealous. ;)

Punkin...Quiche is part of my job. It's not hard. But the 30 quiches were for 2 events at church tomorrow.

EVERYBODY HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!

Congrats to all of you who lost this week :thumbsup2 and for those who didn't or stayed the same we'll get them next week:banana:

I went to Chili's last night for dinner with a couple of friends and I did really well. I had my Carribean salad which I absolutely loved and I broke down and ordered the spinach and artichoke dip but the good thing is that four of us were eating it so that's good. I also did not have desert, just a cup of tea (freezing last night). I am proud because in the booth next to me was something chocolate and definately something I would have loved to order but I drank my tea.

Have a great weekend everyone!! ..we are cutting our tree today and decorating the house! :):)
We're doing the same thing here! I love Christmas...my DH, on the other hand, is grumbling and mumbling stuff under his breath as he hauls "zillions" (his words) of boxes of decorations up and down the stairs!
Hope you get your mold problem taken care of!

 Oh, boy! I bet you are tired! Hope you can at least relax a little today!

:cool1: Good job on your restraint! I love Chili's! Their chips and salsa get me every time! I don't know that I would've been able to resist!

I am actually waiting for our contractor/window installer/carpenter to get here and look at a lovely MOLD problem it seems we are having in our bathroom vent area:scared1: nasty. I just want to rip out everything and build a new bathroom all together..oh wait though...i am still without a job..so that is not happening :sad2: ah well....

i don't mean to scare you about the mold, but NIP IT IN THE BUD!!!!! seriously. if you let that stuff get out of hand it will turn into the biggest, most annoying problem you will ever have to deal with. i've done some depositions in cases involving mold problems and it's not anything to delay on if you have it. i don't mean to worry you....just a warning because i don't want you to go through what i've seen some other people go through. ;)

i love me some chili's!!!!!! my favorite is their cedar plant tilapia. :cloud9: and those chips and salsa prevented me from starving when i worked there through college! have you guys seen the new sweet shots they have? they're desserts in a shot glass. i usually don't have dessert anyway but if you're craving it, it's just enough not to overdo it.....and they're only $1.99 each! :thumbsup2 i got a gift card from chili's for christmas......makes me wanna go there today. but i think i'm gonna hold on to it for when i'm broke right after christmas!

Punkin...Quiche is part of my job. It's not hard. But the 30 quiches were for 2 events at church tomorrow.

well, if quiche is part of your job then i bet you make a mean quiche! want to share any recipes?

i have a christmas party to go to tonight. i'm making spinach dip because any time i go to anything people always ask me to make my spinach dip. and it's NOT good for you! anyway, i went to the store last night to get my ingredients and i grabbed frozen chopped broccoli instead of chopped spinach. so now i have to go back and get the spinach for the spinach dip! i'm so smart. :rolleyes1

Good morning peeps. I am back from Las Vegas. Trip was cut a bit short because my mother's sister died unexpectedly on the afternoon of the 29th so we came home yesterday morning. My mother was having so much fun and I hope she will look back someday and not remember that while she was having fun, her sister died on her bathroom floor with no one there. But I feel the worst for my cousin. She was in labor at the hospital when she was told her mother had just passed away (they felt they had to tell her because there was no other reason for her mom not to be at the hospital with her). So my cousin is always going to have her daughter's birthday be on the day her mother died.

I'm a samer on the weight which is a MIRACLE considering how I ate in Las Vegas. I found I did not enjoy the food as much as in days past because I couldn't get past the guilt of what I was putting into my body. I'm a very adventurous eater and there's plenty to explore in Las Vegas. We ate at Spago (Wolfgang Puck's), Mesa Grill (Bobby Flay's), Bouchon (Thomas Keller's) and Onda (voted best Italian in LV). I think the best thing was the raw tuna nachos at Mesa Grill. I ate so much I was worried my pants wouldn't fit to come home. And thank goodness we got to see Celine Dion before we cut our trip short because that was the purpose of the trip. DH and I had seen her before but it was a very special moment to be able to take my mom. We had center orchestra seats and she loved every second of it.

And you guys were so busy while I was gone.

Gina I hope you love your stay at the GF. DH and I used to always stay at GF in the main building until we bought DVC. I love it there, especially at Christmas. I hope it's a magical stay for you.

Kim I had to re-read one of your posts because I thought you had said that your dog was a CHEESECAKE retriever. You can obviously tell why I'm a peep.

Melinda You may have to share a quiche recipe with me. I had the best quiche ever at Bouchon at the Venetian in Las Vegas. It was so creamy that I could tell it was very low-fat. :lmao:

Aaron Loved the photo of your little doggie. I used to have an Am. cocker, a solid black one. When he died in his old age, I swore I'd never have another dog and I still have his collar and tags in my jewelry box and he died 25 years ago. I finally broke down and got two dogs last year and I've found that my heart did mend and I'm able to love again. But I know I'd never be able to have another cocker--it would seem like a betrayal to my first love.

Wendy Thanks for eating the candy bar for me. But I'm pretty upset that you didn't do the tiramisu for me--I had to have it one night but I did at least stop after 3 bites. Next trip I'm taking a laptop so I can plug into the lifeline here and save myself.

Majic My DS26, who is bipolar, is a very dark individual. He has plenty of tattoos but he also has "brands" and burns. I do not think he has ever cut but with the brands/burns, he has experienced the self infliction of pain. He also dresses in all black, never laughs, even during his manic episodes. I don't know how anyone could consider any of this comedic or entertaining. I've always felt the need to keep this information private as I don't particularly want people's opinions on what I did wrong as a parent, etc. As a dark teenager, I thought he would outgrow it but then of course, his bipolar diagnosis put an end to that dream.

Dawn Are you feeling better since your fall. Thank goodness you are in such good shape as it could have been so much worse. If I fell, I don't think I could get up.

Monica Thanks for the remodel photos. I can't wait to see the finished product and I know you have to be beside yourself with excitement. I know I would be.

To everyone else I missed, hello.

Well I need to get the laundry done so I can wash the cigarette smoke out of everything. I came home with a sore throat and congestion that I'm sure is from breathing second-hand smoke.

Quiche Custard
1 cup heavy cream
2 eggs

Start by baking the crust according to the package directions. When the crust is cool, add your favorite shredded cheese and any fillings you like and then just pour the custard over the filling. Bake at 350 til golden and fully risen in the middle.

Ideas for filling:
bacon
ham
artichoke hearts
spinach
Chopped broccoli
Peppers
Onions
OR anything else that sounds good

TIPS:
***Make sure all veggies are squeezed dry or they may make your quiche "loose".
***Precook peppers and onion a little in the skillet beforehand or else they'll be crunchy.
***The ones I make for big crowds are just shredded cheddar and Hormel real bacon bits. It's generally a crowd pleaser and even "real men" love it!
***Veggie quiches need some salt/pepper in the custard. Quiches with salty meats like bacon and ham DON'T need salt in the custard.
***If the crust is pretty full, one cup cream/2 eggs will probably be enough custard. If you are using a "deep dish" pie shell you may need a little more custard.

pakey - so sorry to hear about your aunt! and what a horrible situation for your mom and your cousin. my prayers are with your family.

melinda - thanks for the quiche recipe and tips! :thumbsup2

Hope you all are staying warm tonight, as here it is 18 degrees and will be snowing heavily by tomorrow morning. Sweet Dreams All!!!

HAVE A WONDERFUL, BLESSED SUNDAY!

Hi peeps!

I have been gone from this thread for awhile...been so busy. Annoying cousing went back to NY yesterday but the less annoying cousin (with the substance abuse issues) is still around for a couple weeks it looks like. Our Thanksgiving was nice and this past week I was swamped with reports and final exams. I still have a little bit more work to do for Thursday. My intership is officially over but my boss hired me to work two days a week so that my kiddos can still get some therapy before the new intern starts in January. So $10 a patient times 16 patients a week for 3 weeks equals $$$ that I am very happy to be getting! I'm leaving for Disney in 2 weeks and I can't wait...after this crazy week with my cousins visiting and a stressful week of work and school, I know I will really enjoy escaping to that Christmas Disney magic. Today we are going out to do some Christmas shopping. My brother lost two deputies (he's a lieutenant) in the line of duty this past week...they were hit by another police car during a car chase. So sad. So needless to say, my brother is not in the best of moods. I'm going to the dentist on Wednesday because my tooth is bugging me...I think I chipped/lost  another filling. Or maybe its a cavity...I don't know but I'm nervous it will be something worse and I'll need a cap, crown or root canal. I'm being semi-brave now but I know I will be sick to my stomach when I get there. If you can spare some pixie dust (for me and my brother and my mom who is still stressed about my cousin) I'd appreciate it.

So what is new with the Peeps? I tried to skim but it is just too much. I see someone is going to Disney soon, someone is having their kitchen remodeled...

Hope everyone has a great Sunday!

Oh and as for weight loss, I really have not been strict with myself at all. I'm letting myself eat whatever I want pretty much. Despite that though, as of last Thursday I actually lost about a pound and a half but I think I may have gained that back since I feel like I've eaten more the past couple days. But either way that means I've maintained so far since prior to Thanksgiving which is good. I just do not want to gain a ton of weight like last year...close to 10 lbs in a month. Not good.

You are absolutely right Dawn! Mold is a scary issue! Luckily from what the contractor said, its just in the insulation itself..so we just have to rip that out..spray it with a bleach solution and reinsulate..as well as put in an ACTUAL VENT to the outside...sigh...but i am glad we caught it when we did before it spread further!

Gina I hope you love your stay at the GF. DH and I used to always stay at GF in the main building until we bought DVC. I love it there, especially at Christmas. I hope it's a magical stay for you.
Thank you Pakey....and i am very sorry to hear about your aunt.

It has been quiet..must be all the holiday madness!! I have to finish decorating the tree and the house today myself...

Hi peeps!

Shannon! We have missed you! I am glad to hear that you will be making yourself some extra $$ ...thats always great this time of year...and i totally hear you about needing a dose of the Disney Magic..I can't wait to go on Thursday!! Wheeee.....Where are you staying again? I can't wait to see all the resorts all decked out!

Hi to everyone else...I hope you are staying all warm and cozy wherever you are..it is FREEZING here in MA..supposedly we are getting snow today..we'll see! I think its a Hot Cocoa and decorating the tree day for sure!! :coffee: :santa:

Where are you staying again? I can't wait to see all the resorts all decked out!

We are staying Garden View at the Poly....I cannot wait. I think the Poly is my all time favorite resort. You're staying GF right? Make sure you let us know how it is...I've always wanted to stay there but then I second guess if I will feel too uptight there and stuff. Are you doing a trippie? Oh and the GF looks amazing for the holidays!

Oh and I don't know if you've done club level before but it is a great treat! I've done it at the Poly and the Boardwalk. Poly was a little better IMO, but both were nice, helpful, and very convenient for snacks, drinks, even meals.

Pakey So sorry to hear about your aunt:hug:

lexmelinda That sounds yummy.

Wonders10 Well one cousin down, one to go. Hang in there and here's some pixie dust for ya pixiedust: and good luck at the dentist. I always get nervous before any doctor appointment. Take a deep breath and you'll be fine.

Well to sum up the weekend for me - I had a Christmas get together at my cousins house, he does it for all the cousins. We had a lot of fun. I didn't do too bad on the appetizers and desserts either. Proud of myself again. Only had one drink, some chips and dip, chocolate covered strawberry and chocolate covered preztels for dessert; is one S or two?:confused3 Going to get dinner ready for the crew and then sit down and knit and relax a bit.

I have not ever done club level at a disney resort before, so i am VERY excited. I think i may do a TR/Dining report...I have def. been thinking about it!:)

Pakey~ I'm sorry to hear about your aunt. Your family is in my thoughts.
