This sounds like my 2 year old. He was diagnosed with asthma about a month ago. He would not quit coughing. Since he has started the nebulizer he has done much better. Good luck with this.

Thank you! It is good to hear that he is doing well now. The only symptom he has is the non-stop cough. The nebulizer has made a huge difference for him. We are actually sleeping most nights now.

WI_Disney Fan, I feel you on the peacoat obsession. I must have 6 of them in my closet. I can't stop from buying a new o ne every year.

Pakey, Thank you! I hope that will be the case for my little guy as well.

DisneyLaura I hope so. It seems that a lot of kids do tend to grow out of it so we are hoping.

MonyMony I understand why you are proud. That is a great clip!

Hey if you have a moment, it's my turn to share/brag:

When I was a young girl I babysat for this family and they had 3 kids. I practically helped raise these kids. We had such a special bond. Anyways the oldest, who is now about to turn 23, plays hockey for Michigan State University here. Last year they won the National title. The schools third in it's history.

He's a junior now and his mom sent me this clip from last nights game.

Just think when I first watched him he was 6 months old crawling around pushing my history book across the floor. I was 14 years old.

Listen for the name, Matt Schepke. He's number 24.

Yeah for Matt. That's really cool. Don't you hate that they grow up so fast.

Aaron--do you do pilates at a class or at home?
At home. One of the first things I did when we moved into our new house in July was I went out and bought an exercise ball. The set included a 40-minute DVD that incorporates the ball with a Pilate's routine that is supposed to increase the effectiveness of the exercises. I actually don't do it all that often any more. A friend of mine turned me on to Yoga, and that is my main source of exercise (outside of taking my dog for 5 mile walks 3-4 times a week). I found that the Yoga left me more sore and tired afterwards than the Pilate's did, so I figured that was the better workout. But the exercise ball/Pilate's routine is a more enjoyable workout for me, so I like to mix that one in from time to time when I just don't feel like doing Yoga. (Gotta love the long winded answer to the simple question, eh?)

Aaron - Kohl's is having a big 50% off sale today and tomorrow. You might check and see if your coat is on sale for even more today. ;)

also, put me down for the Christmas challenge. They talked about that at WW last night, saying that we need to have a goal during the holiday, so that we don't fall of the wagon and into the ditch. :rotfl2: :rotfl: Little did they know that I was already ahead of the game with my "imaginary" friends here on the DIS!:thumbsup2 I need to lose 5 lbs. by Christmas. That will put me where I wanted to be for Thanksgiving. :sad2:

Anyway, my knee troubles have plagued my exercising. Think I am going to have to break down and go to an orthopedic dr. Something is just not right with that knee, and I need it to work for the 5k in 6 WEEKS!!!:scared1: :scared1:

OMG! That would probably be impossible for me...not to mention it would kill me! My faves are Japanese and Mexican!

tell me about it! so far, so good. i had soup for lunch.

I  pea coats for some unexplained reason.

me, too! i have 4 - grey, navy blue, brown and green. you'd think i live up north or something!

Listen for the name, Matt Schepke. He's number 24.

so cool! it's nice that they showed a closeup of him too! :thumbsup2

i'm getting ready to call the 800-number help line for my camera. keep your fingers crossed for me!

Lynda...I  that Pea Coat!!! It looks so comfortable and on sale to boot! WTG!

Aaron...Do you have a tape for Yoga? I am looking for something I can do at home. (Yes...you can give another "long winded" answer! ;) )

Faith...Enjoy your trip to Las Vegas! It sounds like it'll be fun!

So, my DH has said we could go back to WDW for our 25th Anniversary next year, but we are also looking at the possibility of an Alaskan cruise. Do you think I could do both??? :hippie:

Thanks for the heads up! I just checked out their website, and unfortunately the Columbia ski jackets aren't part of that 1/2 off sale. However, I did see a few wool coats that, although a little bit pricy, look really warm and stylish. So most likely I'll be heading there tonight to check them out. And I've got you marked down for 5. I'm in the same boat as you - somehow my Thanksgiving goal became my Christmas goal. Hopefully my Christmas goal doesn't turn into my birthday/Valentines Day goal.

Aaron...Do you have a tape for Yoga? I am looking for something I can do at home. (Yes...you can give another "long winded" answer! ;) )
Yep, I have this DVD. The music is a little new-agey, and the voice of the guy walking you through the exercises reminds me of Bob Ross (that painter with the afro and beard who talked very quietly and painted "happy little trees"). There are two chapters of meditations (which I never do), and three chapters of exercises. You can do any or all of the chapters and get a good workout. Obviously, the more you do the more exercise you'll get. The first and third chapters are enjoyable, but the second chapter is a killer (for me, at least). It really works on flexibility, which is a major downfall of mine. A few of the "poses" are quite challenging, and one or two I can't do because I've got bad knees. If you search for Yoga on Amazon (I just looked in the DVD section), there are a few others that might also interest you. There is a Yoga for beginners that I probably would have purchased if my friend hadn't told me to get this one instead. I would have preferred to ease into it since I'm not as young as I used to be. But I started off just doing the 1st chapter for a week or two, then I did about 1/2 of the 2nd chapter, and I've finally worked my way up to doing all three. So I guess in a way I did ease into it. I can give you a little better explanation if you need one; sometimes my words get a little jumbled when I'm typing and I end up not explaining things as clearly as I would like.

i'm getting ready to call the 800-number help line for my camera. keep your fingers crossed for me!

Maybe you will get some :goodvibes like I did. My camera's lcd screen went black and was streaked. Just pulled it out to use it one day, and black, not dropped or anything. I researched the web and found out that there had been a recall on a sensor in my camera. I called the 800 number, and they said they would fix it, even though it was out of warranty. :woohoo: They emailed me a UPS label. All I had to do was fill out a form they emailed me, pack it up, put the label on, and ship it. It cost me nothing! :thumbsup2 Well, that was Nov. 14th. I got an email today saying it was shipped back to me yesterday all fixed. Now it will be ready to use for mine and dd's Jan trip!!! :cool1: :cheer2:

Here's some pixiedust: to help!

I leave for Las Vegas tomorrow morning with my DH and parents. I'm going to try to post my weight tomorrow before we leave since I won't be here on Friday. I think I'm going to be a samer anyway. But I'll take it--no weight gain over Thanksgiving weekend is a step in the right direction.

Have a great time!

Monica,

That was cool! Great way to get the goalie to zag when you need to score! :thumbsup2 I know you are so proud. I am really missing my son playing hockey this year. I am sure all of that will change once I go see him at a basketball game. He's 6'1", so basketball is probably better suited for his height. He's only 14, so I know he's got more growing to do.

I remember driving him to his practices all over town.

MonyMony I understand why you are proud. That is a great clip!

Isn't it!? He did great that game.

Yeah for Matt. That's really cool. Don't you hate that they grow up so fast.

Yes, even when they aren't technically mine.

At home. One of the first things I did when we moved into our new house in July was I went out and bought an exercise ball. What kind of dog do you have?

Punkin: I loved how they got him practically looking right into the camera. Still that cute darling smile all growed up.

So, my DH has said we could go back to WDW for our 25th Anniversary next year, but we are also looking at the possibility of an Alakan cruise. Do you think I could do both??? :hippie:

wow!!! i say do both. you only live once! :goodvibes

i hope so! i'm sending it in to have it repaired. she said it takes 7-10 days. so i may be buying a diposable camera for christmas pictures! it's still under warranty. although it has a couple of dings in it so i'm not sure they'll cover it under warranty since i can't prove i didn't drop it. we'll see!

two things:

1. my mom just called and my uncle is out of triple bypass open heart surgery. so far, so good. she just went up to see him and he's still asleep with the tube down his throat. everything looks good though!

2. i got a disney gift card for christmas (remember i got most of my presents at thanksgiving this year) and i've already blown it. here's what i got:

http://disneyshopping.go.com/webapp...&productId=1213129&langId=-1&categoryId=21049

http://disneyshopping.go.com/webapp...ogId=10007&productId=1214301&categoryId=21000

i just LOVE that tote! curiouser and curiouser......:goodvibes

I just had a light-bulb moment!

The tread mill is hard to take at long stretches at a time with kids and other demands on my time, so I figured smaller increments of time would be easier. I put 6 pennies on my treadmill and every 10 minutes, I switch over one penny to one of the cup holders. So if I at least switch over 3 pennies, I've achieved my goal...BUT all 6 pennies, all the better!

My you've been chatty without me!! And I dont have much time - Good Luck on the camera Punkin

Love the pea coats..

Monica and Alli you know my DS's played hockey too - it was hard when they couldnt play anymore - they switched to LaCrosse - and did excellent!! DS was coached by the winningest College Coach of ALL time - Coach Sauer of Wisconsin - I never could believe that the College of Wisconsin could win more than Michigan!! (Dh's family is from Michigan, and all those cousins played hockey - I think its a law or something!! ;) )

Thank you! It is good to hear that he is doing well now. The only symptom he has is the non-stop cough. The nebulizer has made a huge difference for him. We are actually sleeping most nights now.

Doncha just love how I jump on and piggy back so I can nod and say - yep, that's what I was thinking!!

Glad the nebulizer is helping, how scary!!

Lynda...I  that Pea Coat!!! It looks so comfortable and on sale to boot! WTG!

Do enjoy that trip to Vegas...

We spent our 25th anniversary in Disney - it was so very magical!! You must get the Bride Ears as well as the buttons... well only if you feel like it!! I loved it - but maybe I'm just an attention getting Disney Freakazoid!!

Aaron have you tried the Burlington Coat Factory? I really think the Down filled coats are a better choice, and I know what you mean about the cold frozen north - that wind whips big time up there!! We wouldnt trade our Land's End WARMEST coats for NOTHING!! They really dont go on sale - but you can try them on at SEARS!! Good lUck!!

Wendy Almost forgot to say KUDOS - WTG!! Great, AWESOME Idea!! :thumbsup2

Fdil just emailed and asked her if I would go shopping with her this weedend to pick out a live Christmas tree - she doesnt have a lot of money to spend, but she wants one, and figures I know where the deals are!! :rotfl2:

Cant wait till she gets the package from my mom in Florida - mom cleaned out her storage closet and since she bought all new stuff at 75% off, she mailed fdil stuff!! (and mom has great taste!!) I also have a huge box of ornaments to give to her! (I buy a few ornaments every year for each child, and they know i save them, telling them, when you get your own tree -this will be yours! I know DS wants all his Star Wars Ornaments, and Hockey Ornaments!! I only hope fdil likes a wild and crazy ornament tree - my SIL has themed trees... Red only red ornaments, or a Blue theme... etc...

So, my DH has said we could go back to WDW for our 25th Anniversary next year, but we are also looking at the possibility of an Alakan cruise. Do you think I could do both??? :hippie:

I think of WDW as a requirement each year rather than a vacation. It's like getting an annual physical--mandatory for health reasons. So in my humble opinion, of course you must do both. My best friend and her husband went on an Alaskan cruise two months ago and loved it.

Aaron Thanks for the info on your pilates workout and I also bookmarked the yoga tape you use. I do use my exercise ball every day but I use it for strength training for the abs and backside (I know TMI). Based on your preferences, I think I'm going to order the yoga tape and take a stab at it.

Wendy What a great idea with the pennies. I'm wearing a pedometer now so that I can see how much I'm walking throughout the day when I'm not thinking about it. I bet with all the running around you do with your kids, you are walking more than you think you are. I'm a desk jockey and I never get out of my chair at work so today, by the time I got home, I'd walked a whopping .04 miles. That includes walking to/from my car!!!! So I had to crank it up on the treadmill tonight. I decided to try the incline at 10 and my buns are so sore I may have to stand the entire time we are in Las Vegas.

Sandy What a nice surprise for your DIL to get all of that Christmas stuff. Starting out, it's a huge cash outlay. I bought ornaments for each DS for every year and they get them when they get married. Since DS26 is not married yet, he's still getting them purchased each year. His set is the Hallmark Frosty Friends. I had no idea when I started them back in 1980 that they would become so valuable. I think the 1980 one is worth over $500 now. It's gonna kill me to let them go. I've started a collection for my grandson too. I just love Christmas stuff.

Well I'd better go drink some water. I think I'm still short 16oz for the day.

I will actually start reading everything that sparkpeople.com sends me. They really have alot of good advice and when I open the email at the beginning of the day: boo-yah-there it is, fresh current advice, new recipes, and an exercise of the day to change it up a little. Something that says, HEY YOU! Remember you are DIETING-changing your eating style! Positive reinforcement. I need all I can get.
I love the SP emails. Do you get the fast-food challenge ones? I love those, because they tell you what's the better choice, so when I go out, I have a better shot at guessing the calories. No more 1000 calorie salads for me!

Glad to hear your uncle came through the surgery well.
And I love the Alice stuff. When I was a kid, I didn't want to be a princess at DL, I wanted to be Alice.

My scales have been wonky lately, so I had to go to the gym to work out tonight so I could really see if that mysterious 2 lbs. had disappeared. It had! Hurray for 3 goals.

I asked DH for the WW scale for Christmas. He said I couldn't tell anyone if he got it for me, because that would make him seem like the shallowest, most callous husband ever. On our engaged encounter weekends, we occasionally come across a couple where one is really controlling about the other one's weight (e.g. In line for lunch, one guy told his fiancee to put something back because he didn't want to "see it on her" ) so DH is sensitive about seeming like he judges me. I know he loves me through thick (waist) and thin. It really takes the pressure off of me in the whole weight control situation. Have I mentioned lately how much I love that man?

GOOD MORNING!!! :sunny:

Thanks for missing me, Heather!

There was an unfortunate bed wetting incident night before last and once I got his clothes/bed changed, I couldn't go back to sleep and woke up at 7 yesterday! I KNOW! LATE! But I should've checked in!

Punkin
...Glad your uncle is OK. Bypass surgery is practically drive through these days! They have you up walking around the next day! Glad is came through it well! Bummer about your camera! Good thing it's Christmas and you've been a good girl! ;)

FAITH! WOO-HOO! Have fun in Las Vegas!

Monica!
Great video of your "baby" on the ice! Aren't you soooo proud of him! I nannied for two summers during college. I was with those kids almost 24/7. Well the baby who was 6 the first summer I stayed with them went all the way to the pros in soccer! So I know the feeling!

Sandy...You are gonna be the world's best mother in law!!! FDIL is so lucky to have you!

GOTTA RUN!

HAVE A GREAT DAY, EVERYONE!!!

I think of WDW as a requirement each year rather than a vacation. It's like getting an annual physical--mandatory for health reasons.

i agree! it's the one escape i get from reality where i get to be a kid again. even if it's just for a few days, i truly believe i'll go there every year from now on if i possibly can.

And I love the Alice stuff. When I was a kid, I didn't want to be a princess at DL, I wanted to be Alice.

i'm soooooooo not a princess! my two favorite disney characters are peter pan and alice. tink runs a very close third!

my dad had it back in february 2006. the surgery was on a thursday and he came home from the hospital on a sunday. amazing that his chest was hanging open for the world to see and 4 days later he was at home.

i'm off to the gym, then the grocery store. we have NO food. i was gone for 5 days and of course ray didn't go to the store at all. then i've got a thousand things i've got to get done today because it's my only day off....typing, getting the christmas decorations out, making more videos for expo TV (because i need money!).

oh, and do you remember that two-week trial i had back in april that i was so stressed out over? the one about the courthouse shooting we had here? well, one of the attorneys called the office and needs an estimate for how much the transcript will cost. so i've got to pull all that out when i get back from the store and come up with an estimate. i've never typed anything that was longer than 4 days and this thing was two weeks!!! it'll be good money, but LOTS of work. i don't know how i feel about it. maybe she'll look at my estimate and .... :faint:

hope everyone has a good hump day! :goodvibes

What kind of dog do you have?
She's an American Cocker Spaniel. She's a little runt, and has more energy than she knows what to do with. Since the walks help tucker her out a bit, they are as much for our sanity as it is for my health. Here's a picture that's probably a year or so old. She's 3 1/2 now, so I'm guessing this was taken when she was two-ish.

That's what my wife suggested too. I probably would have headed there in the next week or two, but I went to Kohl's last night and I found a coat that I liked. The Columbia coats that Kohl's sells just don't seem like they'd be warm enough, especially if I was going to be spending $130 on one. I found a different brand there (Free Country) that also makes the 3-in-1 type coats, but these seemed thicker and much warmer than the Columbias that I was trying on. Plus, they were 50% off, so I got it for $75 (thanks again for the heads up aldisneygrl!). And, my wife got a 15% off coupon in the mail last week so I got it for a little under $65. I'm keeping my heavy wool coat that I wear to work every day, but I wanted a less formal, shorter yet still warm coat for bumming around at night or on the weekends, and hopefully this one will accomplish that.

Aaron Thanks for the info on your pilates workout and I also bookmarked the yoga tape you use. I do use my exercise ball every day but I use it for strength training for the abs and backside (I know TMI). Based on your preferences, I think I'm going to order the yoga tape and take a stab at it.
Glad I could help! Some of the exercises take a little bit of getting used to, but if my big lazy bum can handle it, I'm sure you won't have any problem!

. I ate a south beach peanut butter bar before we left, .......................................................my previous microwavable dishes were some that I rescued when my sister was throwing them away 20 years ago.:sad2:
!

Hey DWHEATL! We have some things in common! I love south beach peanut butter bars! The Fiber One chocolate chip bar is really good to. 35% of your recommended fiber grams for the day in one bar!

I find that I am very "thrifty" myself. I don't like to spend money on a new "item" if I have a perfectly good "item" at home. Maybe I had to many "lean" years, or it could be my packrat syndrome. Looking for stored winter clothes in our junk shed-umm-Storage Shed, I came across DD15's old preschool jacket and some of her cute dresses from that era (when I could dress her up in girly dresses princess: ), along with some baby clothes from her and DS7....did I throw them out? (or donate them?) No, because maybe, someday, they will want them for thier kids. (yeah right:sad2: ) I really need to go through all of the other boxes of to small clothes that aren't so cute and memory filled and get rid of them. I even found an "office" outfit of mine from at least 10 years ago! Not mentioning some of the other "treasures" that are still stored, waiting for doomsday (...or the next hurricane... shhh!) Sometimes I make myself wonder....:confused3

On a better note, I did my workout video yesterday, Callentics for beginners, I CAN FEEL IT! :cheer2: I've got to say, I get alot of motivation from everyone on here, but would like to send out special kudos to UTAH MAMA and PAKEY. For some reason, the things they have wrote about, and how they have handled thier "motivation factors" have provided inspiration for me. Sometimes I get stuck by the "I think I can'ts" way to much, and get discouraged from even trying. I remember being in much better shape-physically and sometimes feel like it would be climbing an impossible mountain to get there again. But then I re-up the motivation and feel SO much better for the one workout. Now if I could just do the miles on the treadmill, I'd be a happy camper. :thumbsup2
