DISappearing Peeps...A fastpass to THIN! Part 2

Good luck to those of you partaking in the Black Friday madness. I am too much of a wuss to brave that insanity.:
Unfortunately, I DID partake in the insanity! My sisters and I do it every year, but this year we decided to try out a different mall! We will NEVER go to that mall again...it was CRAZY!

Someone had asked me (sorry I forgot who) about my walking. I started out just taking my little dogs out for a couple of blocks. It killed me. I was so out of shape and pretty worn out from finishing chemo and radiation. So maybe I started at a slow pace for about a quarter of a mile/half of a mile. And then I worked my way up. Then I got some advice from Dawn  regarding the intervals and I started walking and running combined--makes it more interesting. Now I take the dogs out for 2 miles with DH and that's my warm up. No running. I come back and get on the treadmill and do another 3 miles that's much faster than walking with the dogs. I've also added toning exercises and use my exercise ball and resistance bands after I finish my cardio. I'm going to try adding some jump rope now just to add variety.

I'm 51 yrs old and a desk jockey. No young kids to chase or anything. So I 100% believe that my weight loss success is due to the exercise. I am on a diet, very strict actually for health reasons, but at my age, the weight will not come off with diet alone. Before my cancer, I had been on the same type of diet for 18 months with no exercise program. In that time, I lost 10 lbs. This time, in 4 months with exercise, I've lost 22 lbs or 12%. Huge difference. Plus I like feeling some muscles starting to form under that flab!
I asked! Thanks for sharing! I'm trying to work myself up past 2.5 miles/day...but that just about kills me! I have very bad knees (runs in my family on mom's side), so I pay dearly for it the next day...not so much the walking, but the running! I really need to get some ace wraps or something!
We had our first Grand Gathering pre meeting yesterday for our Jan 09 trip. Since I'll be using DVC points for all of the rooms, I needed to know what everyone wanted to do. I think this trip may be more than I'll be able to handle. I own points at BCV and SSR and plan to use my points to get 2 rooms at BCV and 3 rooms at SSR so that I can book at the 11 month window. What does everyone want ---- AKL. I'm giving them free rooms and they want AKL. I may have to take up alcohol consumption before this is over.
Hey, I'll go and stay WHEREVER you put me! And I won't complain one bit...even if you make me sleep in the bath tub!:rotfl:

my Christmas goal will be to lose a measly 4.2 pounds so I can finally, once and for all, be at 175. I've got Gina and Lynda tentatively marked down for 5 lbs. Anybody else???
Sure, I'll give it a try this time...you can put me down for 5 lbs. I would've said 8 lbs., but I'll be in WDW in a couple of weeks...so, I know the diet will be non-existant then!

Well, we went from DS6 having bronchitis, DD2 having an ear infection to yes you guessed it the dreaded stomach bug:sick:. DS8 and DD2 has it, DS6 is clear and free at the moment. Hopefully that's all that gets it.
Sorry y'all have the sickies at your house! We passed the stomach virus around here all last week! Luckily, it resulted in a loss for my weigh-in! Ha!

a question, how do you make posts where they go down, skipping lines? I feel very not-smart that I haven't figured that out yet...:sad2: , kept hoping that I'd luck out and click something the right way one day...but that might be awhile, so  I thought I'd just ask.
Like

this?

If so, then all you have to do is press enter twice (or however many times you want) at the end of the sentence. Like this (press enter twice).

Is that what you meant?

you go girl!!!!!! :thumbsup2

i'm so jealous of all the peeps going to WDW during christmas! i hope to make it there one day soon during the holidays......:cloud9: i'm not sure who all's going, but you guys have a blast!!!
We won't be there for the actual day of Christmas, but we will be there from the 9th-14th! I'm so excited! It'll be my DD1's first WDW trip! She has been asking me every day if it's time to go yet. I was going to do a cute LGMH 30 day count-down calender, but I was afraid that would make it drag on even longer for her. So, I decided I'd still do one, but for only a week out. That way it won't drag on forever for her.
Thanks for sharing the pics from your TG! Looks like y'all had fun! LOL @ the turkey pic!:lmao:

Anyone else want to set 3 GOALS for this week? One's that you PROMISE to do every day?

1. WATER WATER WATER
2. Exercise EVERY day (alternating between strength and cardio training)
3. No late-night snacking!!!

It seems like everyone had a pretty good TG! Ours was great! We only had one dinner to go to this year...the ILs...b/c my parents were out-of-town visiting my aunt in Miami. So, it was nice not to have to drive all over creation to get from one dinner to the next...and nice not to feel so stuffed! I actually did ok w/ my food intake, too. I didn't post on Friday, but I actually LOST 2.1 last week. So, I'm happy!
I hope I can keep up w/ those 3 goals this week. With our WDW trip coming up and Christmas right after that, I have lots of stuff to finish up that will keep me busy. Shopping for both the trip and Christmas...wrapping gifts...decorating the house...Christmas tree...so much to do, such little time!
Hope everyone has a great week!

Well, I've been super busy at work, and we did a LOT of Christmas shopping this weekend. (We are almost done! :cool1: )

On the winter coat topic - I got a new one. I have a Columbia, but I wanted something a bit dressier for work. I got one at Old Navy for 40% off that I LOVE!!! Here it is!

As for my 3 things to do this week...

1. Count calories every day instead of just estimating.

2. Keep on getting in at least 30 minutes of activity per day (except Friday) AND add in some balance ball or other muscle work at least twice this week.

3. Take my lunch to work with me at least twice this week. (Tomorrow's is already ready to go! :thumbsup2 )

So far, so good. I walked at lunch today for 30 minutes with a friend of mine AND rode my bike for 41 minutes when I got home from work! :) I'll be walking again tomorrow with my friend, and I can ride the bike Wednesday night. Thursday, I'll be walking on lunch again, and I can ride the bike again that night. Friday is typically my body's day of rest. Saturday, I can ride the bike in the morning - same on Sunday. I counted calories today. I had 1617 by my closest estimation. Since 1800 is my max, so I'm pleased with that!

On my Treadmill for the second time today!!!!! 30 minutes each! I'm on fire!

Two times today because I was too sick yesterday...and WE made a DEAL.

That is AWESOME!!! YOU ROCK!!! :rockband: I know what a big deal that is for you!

my 3 things for this week:

1. go running at least twice (i don't want to be too ambitious because i know i'll be busy at work. last week of the month=craziness!)

2. no mexican food for the rest of the week

3. lose the pound i gained over thanksgiving!

Everyone have a great day. :flower3:
Sorry that your kiddos are sick. I think we are on the upswing. Joshua still has a cough but what kid doesn't right now.

hi, peeps!!! i'm super swamped at work but i'm officially back and reading the thread, though i haven't caught up from this weekend yet. oh, and some bad news......I BROKE MY CAMERA!!! those of you that know me know what a trajedy this is for me!!!! hopefully my friend that works at best buy can help me get it fixed.
:scared1: not your camera.
you go girl!!!!!! :thumbsup2

and finally, this is my best friend from high school's kids cuttin a rug. watch it for a little chuckle! :goodvibes

I am ready to go back for some Holiday Magic. WE have gone th efirst week of Dec. twice and loved it! That is cute of Maddox dancing.

Did well yesterday on all fronts. Hopefully today will go just as well. Been up since 3 with Rebekah. That should make for a long day. Have a good one.

You just press the enter button. I do twice. Don't worry it took me three months to figure out how to quote people. I'm no way near computer anything so that's a big step for me.

On my Treadmill for the second time today!!!!! 30 minutes each! I'm on fire! Two times today because I was too sick yesterday...and WE made a DEAL.

:cool1:

these are my nieces and nephew in front of the early christmas presents aunt dawn brought for them!my cousin was in town from brazil. he and his family are missionaries there. these are pics of his two little girls playing with the disney princess tea set i got them. i wanted to play too! :rotfl: ...here's my granny having tea with them. so cute! my dad and his new dog......

Cute pictures. The video of Maddox dancing too cute.

actual day of Christmas, but we will be there from the 9th-14th! I'm so excited! It'll be my DD1's first WDW trip!

It doesn't matter you won't be there on Christmas, you're there right? I am not allowed to go back until Nov 2009. DD is only 2 so DH wants us to wait I think he's nuts.

Sorry that your kiddos are sick. I think we are on the upswing. Joshua still has a cough but what kid doesn't right now.
Been up since 3 with Rebekah. That should make for a long day. Have a good one.

Thank about the kids. Elizabeth seems to be a little better, nothing in her diaper yet. DS8 on the other has been up all night going potty, it's now been two days. The pedi opens at 9 so I think I will be phoning them for some advice.

As for my three deals for this week. :guilty:

1. Count points - did
2. Water - did
3. Gym, 3 times this week - if virus doesn't end, that I won't be able to do.

Today is weigh-in at WW. Won't be able to go because of the bug so I will have to skip on Friday as well. AF came this morning too. Yuck.

Have a great day everyone.

Laura:flower3:

pigget74 How are your kids doing? I know they were sick too last week and the week before.

pigget74 How are your kids doing? I know they were sick too last week and the week before.

They are doing better. I do not know how to keep the germs from passing from one to another. My oldest DS now is on the verge of Bronchitus. Did I mention that he was the one that staRted this mess in the first place. That is right--he gave it to Joshua who just shared it with others and kept it for himself--lol. I am starting him on some perscription cough medicine that he has left over. Hopefully it will all pass soon .

Hope yours get to feeling better soon--I hate the stomache bug--we had that about 4 weeks ago and it was not fun.

I have already had 23 ounces of water--only 60 to go :rotfl:

Anyone else want to set 3 GOALS for this week? One's that you PROMISE to do every day?

O.K. great, I need some goals! It really helps feeling like your not alone with trying to diet and maintain a healthier lifestyle.

1. Drink ALL 64oz's of water

2.Exercise every other day for 30 minutes.

3.Count ALL calories.

Thanks for telling me to hit the ENTER key! I feel almost like a professional now.:cool2: It looks much better with everything spaced out nicely. I also wanted to add that for a #4 that I will actually start reading everything that sparkpeople.com sends me. They really have alot of good advice and when I open the email at the beginning of the day: boo-yah-there it is, fresh current advice, new recipes, and an exercise of the day to change it up a little. Something that says, HEY YOU! Remember you are DIETING-changing your eating style! Positive reinforcement. I need all I can get.

Hi Peeps,

Whew what a whirwind couple of days. We got all of our outside lights on the house and raked the leaves AGAIN and planted a few shrubs all with the "help" of my 3 year old and 19 month old :scared:

We also had a scare with my 3 year old. He was recently diagnosed with "cough-variant asthma" and he had an attack on Wednesday night. Now the poor little guy has to use a nebulizer twice a day and is on an oral steroid to boot. I know asthma is not a big deal in the grand scheme of things but it makes me sad to think he is going to deal with this for a long time. :sad2:

I did weigh myself on Saturday and I am up 2lbs. :headache: Considering all the dessert I had on thanksgiving I am surprised it isn't more. Now that my baby is doing better I will be able to hit the gym tonight and do my week 2 day 1 of the couch to 5K run and elliptical. I will work it off this week.

Now I am off to catch up on everyone.

Kim

GOALS FOR THE WEEK:

1. Drink at least 64oz a day.
2. Go to the gym at least 3 times but preferably 4 times.
3. Do ab workout (given to me by a rugby coach) 3X this week.

This sounds like my 2 year old. He was diagnosed with asthma about a month ago. He would not quit coughing. Since he has started the nebulizer he has done much better. Good luck with this.

On the winter coat topic - I got a new one. I have a Columbia, but I wanted something a bit dressier for work. I got one at Old Navy for 40% off that I LOVE!!! Here it is!
Very cool! I  pea coats for some unexplained reason. My mom has her dad's old pea coat from when he worked on the coal boats (big barges that shipped coal); she wanted me to have it but he was ~6'3" and I'm 5'8". Not gonna work so good.

So far so good on my three goals. I haven't done any nighttime nibbling, I'm eating only my portion of supper, and I did my Yoga Saturday and Sunday and Pilates last night.

Have a great day everyone!

My goals:

Drink my minimum of 64 oz of water each day.

2 of my meals have to be salad based.

No more eating after 7pm.

I need a 4th. At least 3 nights a week I have to go walking. Tread mill is jammed in a corner right now. We are living like sardines with the construction going on.

I go back to my obgyn in 3 weeks. I HAVE to loose SOMETHING before the apt. I'll just be so ashamed if I don't.

Hi all!! Hope your Turkey Day was wonderful and delicous!! I was a samer last week (never got a chance to post), which means that I didn't meet my T-Day goal of 8 lbs, but I don't think 6 lbs is too shabby.

So, I still wanna play for the Christmas goal -- Aaron, please put me down for 5 lbs by Christmas!!

Smiles to all! I'm off to read the many post since Wednesday!

Good Job WIDF Aaron!!!!
I tend to want to nibble mindlessly at night...but that's another goal for another week.

THREE is plenty to work on at a time for me. My hardest goal isn't the tread mill. It's the water! I AM doing it, but I have a bad attitude, let me tell you.

My 3rd goal was to have one meal per day be all veggie. That's not too hard.

I love pea coats too. THey were popular when I was a teenager and I'm so glad to see them back. That's my reward when I get to size 8 (which is about 10 lbs away). I'm going to get a red pea coat that will go with my red Disney crocs.

Kim/Heather--sorry to hear about your children with asthma. DS28 had terrible asthma as a child, was actually hospitalized a few times for it, and it's tough here because we have such poor air quality. But it was something that got better as he got older so hopefully it will for your kiddos too.

Laura--no WDW until 2009? :scared1: I think that's against the law in most states. You need to work on DH. We are taking our grandson at 3 yrs old but I think he's ready now. Unfortunately, we already have other trips planned without him so he's gotta wait now. But that's not stopping me from going.

Dawn--Sorry to hear about your camera. I'm sending pixie dust that it can be fixed.

Aaron--do you do pilates at a class or at home?

I leave for Las Vegas tomorrow morning with my DH and parents. I'm going to try to post my weight tomorrow before we leave since I won't be here on Friday. I think I'm going to be a samer anyway. But I'll take it--no weight gain over Thanksgiving weekend is a step in the right direction.

Thanks for telling me to hit the ENTER key! I feel almost like a professional now.:cool2:

:thumbsup2 Way to go

You can do it. Think of it as a pound a week.;)

I still wanna play for the Christmas goal -- Aaron, please put me down for 5 lbs by Christmas!!Smiles to all! I'm off to read the many post since Wednesday!

6 lb is not too shabby. Nice job.

Also Aaron can you put me down for 5 lb for Christmas goal too.

UtahMama - Water is a problem for me too. I  diet pepsi but if I put crystal light in it (I just use those ones intended for a water bottle, so I am not getting that muc iced tea flavor just a tad but it does the trick). We can do it, we can do it.:flower3:

We went with DS #1 was 2 and I was pg with DS #2. Then we went when they were 5 and 2. That should have been the perfect time but the older DS was afraid of everything, literally. It was kind of sad. But it is against the law in CT not to go:rotfl: I can't change his mind though, I've tried believe me. I am not working and he's self employed so money is tight some weeks. I would rather wait until 2009 and then have a better time. Even though it's killing me.

Hey if you have a moment, it's my turn to share/brag:

When I was a young girl I babysat for this family and they had 3 kids. I practically helped raise these kids. We had such a special bond. Anyways the oldest, who is now about to turn 23, plays hockey for Michigan State University here. Last year they won the National title. The schools third in it's history.

He's a junior now and his mom sent me this clip from last nights game.

Just think when I first watched him he was 6 months old crawling around pushing my history book across the floor. I was 14 years old.

Listen for the name, Matt Schepke. He's number 24.

Monica,

That was cool! Great way to get the goalie to zag when you need to score! :thumbsup2 I know you are so proud. I am really missing my son playing hockey this year. I am sure all of that will change once I go see him at a basketball game. He's 6'1", so basketball is probably better suited for his height. He's only 14, so I know he's got more growing to do.
