Hi All!

Tara...Congrats on the little boy! :cheer2: Son's are wonderful!!!

Shannon...:wizard: for you that all will work out for this class. Why didn't your advisor realize you needed this class before now?!? :confused3

Dawn & Lynda...I have NO IDEA who the musical groups were that you were talking about a few pages back! Guess I really am getting old!!! :rolleyes1

Still haven't heard anything from the boss about possible job offers. We'll see what happens by the end of the week.

I am going to see a Celtic group tonight called "Anuna" with my daughter. She won tickets from a radio station a few weeks ago. It should be fun!

All caught up and needing to celebrity gossip:

Did y'all see Marie Osmond faint last night on Dancing with the Stars?

I loves me my Marie but I thought of some not-so-nice theories:

a. it was a publicity stunt as she is (sooo) not the best?
b. she did it for attention, thus it was a faker? (I say that because it was such a graceful faint)
c. she skipped too many meals in training because I know she has lost a bunch of weight in preparation for this. But she didn't mean to faint.

I thought her scores were a smidge low though. I thought she's really improved.
Poor Marie!

Sandy- yikes on the party! My dd3's teacher decided they'd have a pajama party instead.... which was today!!!! They have UEA break and are not in school till after halloween. NO homemade treats either!!!!! I HATE that! I don't get how slicing pillsbury slice and bake punkin cookies is going to poison some kid. So I put her in her best PJ's and made a new matching bow for her hair, got some dull store bought Halloween cookies last night and VIOLA! :upsidedow

Mornin -

I have to organize the 5th graders Halloween Party - what have I gotten myself into??? Yikes :scared1: The majority of the class has been together since Kindg - and no one "signs up" they just "show up" PTO has now declared, no homemade treats, and no art projects!! 5th graders people!!

No one will come to meetings, so I did a "virtual" meeting - only 2 people responded (out of 6) neither read the post!! 1 responded "I bought plates, napkins etc" um ok, and "thanks for that donation, I was going to send a letter home to ask for donations" another wanted to make gingerbread haunted houses... but no homemade treats - so she volunteered to do games! :yay: another mom saw me at school and said she'd send treats - found out she's planning on making pudding dirt cups - she is a teacher's aide at the school - I'm staying out of telling her how to bring the snack...

I need a nap..

and I'm telling you its so hard to stay out of the Halloween candy - I'm now dreaming of twix, snickers, mars bars... :sad2: and I want Chinese food again... I keep saying 950 calories, 950 calories...

Our problem isn't our PTO, it is our school district. They have said NO SUGAR (and been that way for a year) at all! Well that is hard when the holiday is centered around SUGAR. :lmao: :rotfl2: It is REALLY hard at Valentine's too.:sad2:

My dd's teacher said we could this year, but just bring it in, and don't make a big scene. DD's teacher last year had pizza and ice cream sundae's. He was tenured and is now an Asst. Principal at another city school, so I guess it didn't matter. :rolleyes1

Well, at least you have plates and games. Now you need napkins, drinks, and food. Popcorn balls from Wal Mart are a good easy snack, and NOT homemade. ;)

Hope this helps!

Hey does anybody watch Rachel Ray? I don't usually, but my SIL is going to be on today. They chose her office to be made over. Her name is Marsha, and she speaks a couple of times, and remember she is really Southern. ;) :rolleyes1 (just like me ;)) If you can't watch it live, you can see it on her website. I've already "cheated" and watched it. I'm also TIVOing (is that a real word? - of course it is:rolleyes1 ) the show.

:yay:

I've been surfing, and some really cute, easy murder games - the murderer winks... I'll have to read this thru

I'm going to do the punch, and hope the snacks work themselves out - I figure on making 2 batches of blood punch in a bright orange "bucket" (JoAnn Fabrics) Blood punch, I thought I'd do the red Hawaiian Punch (cant imagine a no sugar policy!) and 7up, and either red sherbet or hopefully I can find some dry ice!!

No treatbags, no "prizes" for games.. per PTO, which is directed by the superintendent, wanting to make ALL the schools have the "same" experiences... :sad2:

Dis is slow..

Marie had an asthma attack - her brother was in the audience and then talked to a reporter from Utah - she was hugely embarrassed, and it has happened to her in the past...

everyone is talking about 1. when she fainted the thunk was really loud (you can really hear her heavy breathing on the radio replay!!)

2. when she fainted, she fainted butt to the camera, no one in their right mind would fall that way!

3. Len's reaction :rotfl2: all those men, and she hit her head so hard, and the slow reaction was them thinking she was just being silly...

What no homemade jammies?

This week is Red Ribbon Week - DARE to say no to drugs - so each day the kids do something silly - one day will be a "no sweat, no drugs" kids can wear sweats... silly socks "sock it to drugs"... crazy hat day...

Popcorn GREAT IDEA!! :thumbsup2

and I LOVE  Rachael Ray - I'll be watching!!

DD music classes went to Milwaukee to listen to the symphony orchestra - so I have to pick her up at 2:30....

(not far till I hit 100 posts!!) :cutie:

I posted the family lasagna recipe on the Commity board, now I want lasagna!!

I'm thinking I just may make it and then take it to Champagne when I go down there Friday - it would make an awesome meal Sat night - or for when I leave, leftovers...I'm thinking the kids are expecting me to take them to Steak N Shake!!

Oooooo Steak N Shake. DS talks all the time about how much he misses it (from when we lived in MO--we don't have it out here in CA). Now my stomach is growling.

AMEN:confused3

We are having red ribbon week too. Today was "join the fight against drugs". They had to wear camo today. Luckily camo is chic in girls clothing now. DD had a cute blue camo shirt and camo capris. :thumbsup2 Tomorrow is "give drugs the slip" and they wear slippers, Thursday they wear red, and Friday "drugs are tacky" and they are supposed to wear clothes that don't match or inside out. :rotfl2:

Wow Allie, I just went to RR tv show and watched... I teared up!! Too funny - I saw Marsha!! The accents just make me think of "home"... *sigh, I miss Texas, I miss grandma... reunions... bluebonnets.... and accents!!

I cant for the life of me figure out this computer - I'm logged in as Sandy, and I dont log out - how did I post as eeyore???

what a goose I am!:confused3

Oh my goodness.
No treat bags.
No sugar.
No homemade treats?
What the heck?

And what is the reasoning on no homemade treats?
allergies?
purposeful poisoning?
what?

home schooling is starting to look better and better -
not really.
cuz I'd have to be independently wealthy.
but you know.

Oh my goodness... I just saw a picture of myself from this weekend. If I didn't know what I was wearing, I wouldn't recognize me -- in a GOOD way!

It's been about 6 months since I've seen a picture of myself -- what a difference 50+ lbs makes! I'm so excited and I want to turn this into more motivation! This pic will be going on my fridge right next to "THE PICTURE" (i.e. the picture that shocked the heck out of me and was part of the reason I got started on this journey).

So, thanks to everyone here! Your motivation, kind words, and "spit-out-the-diet-pepsi" stories have been invaluable! I don't have either of the photos electrontically, but I'll try to use my "ghetto scanner" (I think that's what Dance calls it) and put them up later...

:) MJ

WOO! Congrats!

Why Nothing Homemade?

What If You Popped Popcorn For The Kids, Bought Candy Corn And Some Clear Plastic Food Service Gloves And Had The Kids Stuuf A Glove With Popcorn And Candy Corn? You Could Even Add Some Plastic Spider Rings And Then Tie Off With Ribbon.

It didn't look like an asthma attack to me though. There'd at least be some weezing (not heavy breathing) ? It looked too graceful, like a 40's actress fainting onto a lounge. I was tiVo'ing it and watched it over and over. I'm such a nosey Nellie! :rolleyes1 I will all read the news stories, but still doubt it was just a faint. I need to just let it go, don't I? :sad2:

No homemade jammies. She has this blanket sleeper that is brown with pink polka dots that is so cute. I made the matchy bow.

It's our DARE week too. BUT ours isn't as clever as yours. Today was Hawaiian day. Not sure how to tie that in to not doing drugs :confused3

We are doing Red Ribbon week here as well, but since I am not there I have no clue what is going on. DD missed school yesterday and is on a field trip today and all DS said is that he needed to wear one of DH college football shirts to school today. I know they can wear a hat on Thurs. and that they are doing numerous activities at school.

Sandy---I will have to go check out the lasagna recipe.

Does anyone knoe about how long it takes DShopping to get an order out. I ordered something on the 17th and was just curious. It is Joshua's WOODY costume.

Peeps...I need major pixie dust here. Bring out the reserves. Along with my externship next semester, I still have one class to take. So last night I looked to see when it was being offered (what night). Well all that is available is an online section for distance students. Uh-oh. I email my "advisor" and she tells me I have a problem and I can't take that class and may have to wait til the summer to take it...which means graduating a semester later! I can't do it. I'm ready now! She said there may be a mistake in the schedule because there should be another online class being offered that she will allow me to enroll in. She won't know until Thursday when she speaks to the head of the department if the class is supposed to even be offered or not. PLEASE PLEASE send pixie dust that the class is available and I can register for it. I have been crying for the past half hour thinking that I will be graduating late and now I have to go put make up on "crying face". Not fun. ugh, it's gonna be along day.

Thanks peeps!

:wizard: headed your way! ;)

I'm thinking the kids are expecting me to take them to Steak N Shake!!

Of course they will! ;)

Please call or PM if you have time to get together while you're here! :)

Is it a hard pattern? I've only mastered scarves - ok, so I wouldnt exactly call it mastered... and I bought those needles with plastic for some kind of continuous knitting for blankets - and I have no idea how it works.. I'd like to start knitting prayer shawls tho... I have so much yarn...

Its not a hard pattern, thankfully i use stitch markers though..there is some thought as you are going along though, lots of purling and yarn overs...when i finish it i will be sure to take a pic. I love making scarves too, but this alpaca wool is just too perfect for a shawl... :)

and I LOVE  Rachael Ray - I'll be watching!!

:

Since you love Rachael Ray, do you know if the rumors are true about her husband? I heard they were getting a divorce...i hope its not true..it would be nice for some celebrities to have intact relationships! :sad2:

Shannon - I almost forgot. pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: Here's a whole boatload of dust! ;)
