Changes to prioritization of points when making or changing reservation?

I recently made a new reservation and noticed that it did not automatically use all of my banked points. I had a few banked points in 2 contracts, and it only took the banked points from the contract that I had marked for prioritization. After thinking about this, I finally decided to go in and see if I could modify the reservation. To my surprise, neither of the two contracts that I had used originally were marked "locked". I was able to uncheck both of them and completely redo the contracts and order that I wanted used.

Has anyone else noticed this? Is it a glitch, or a welcome change to the application? Although, members will have to be more careful when making new reservations.

It only locks during the home resort period and I find only kicks in the next day.

If I book and modify in the same day, it doesn’t always show locked.

But, as long as you check all contracts to be used when booking, it will take all banked or borrowed points.

If you only check the one you want used first but not the others, then it won’t.

It sounds like a glitch.

The order of points taken based on your priority selected in the following order:
Holding, Banked, Borrowed, Transferred, This Years Allotment.
If the reservation is not made for 60 days out the holding points will be skipped.

You have 3 contracts each for 200 points at VB, SSR & OKW.

Your friend Sally transferred you 50 BLT Points.
Previously you cancelled an inn room at VB inside 30 days which moved 15 points into holding.
You had banked 25 points from SSR into this year.
You had borrowed all of next years points from OKW

This gives you totals of 225 SSR, 400 OKW & 200 VB, 50 BLT Points for 585 in this use year.



If your reservation is for the next 60 days or less, costs 500 points and the order you selected the contracts is SSR, VB, OKW, BLT the points used would like this:

SSR Used: 225, VB Used: 25, OKW Used: 200, BLT Used: 50



If the reservation was made outside of 60 days it would not use the 15 VB points in holding so your used points would look like this:

SSR Used: 225, VB Used: 25, OKW Used: 200, BLT Used: 50.
While VB used the same amount of points you still have 15 points that must be used before the end of the use year since the reservation was made more than 60 days out which reduces the amount of VB points that you can bank.

It doesn’t sound like the OP checked all contracts with restricted points the first go round.

If they did not, the system won’t take points at all.

That is what I was originally thinking but OP said when they modified it they "unchecked" the contracts which is why I assumed that they really were checked and just something glitchy going on.

No I didn't check both contracts that had banked points. I needed to save one of them for something else. But I always thought that they took all banked points anyway, even if they weren't checked. I guess I was wrong.

But still nothing was locked and I made the reservation 2 days before.

Yes you have to select them for DVC to know you want to use them.
Even if it was contract #10 and it had banked points it would use those banked points before using current use year points of contract #1 as long as all the contracts you want for the booking are checked.

I have seen the lock not appear for several days when modifying so I don't think that is out of normal character for the site.
If you were talking a month or two later then that would certainly stand out as strange to me

Just to confirm this is a booking for 7 to 11 months out?

If so, then it would be a change or glitch.
