am i correct in thinking that if we're on the DDP, that ends at midnight on the day of checkout? so if i'm checking out on a friday morning, i can use my DDP points until midnight on friday, right?

You are correct! :thumbsup2

Hi everybody! Sorry I haven't been on much lately, but I'm thinking of all of you and spreading the pixie dust far and wide!

(Incidentally, I haven't had much success with weight. BUT the closer I get to the big WDW trip the more motivated I get!)

DANCE - Wow. I am sympathizing a little bit with you, because the 3 kids 3 and under that I watch can be pretty hard to deal with. My daughter (3 1/2) sometimes has tantrums (I call them freak-outs) where it's really hard to calm her down. However - she's younger than the 5 year old you have, and she's never tried to physically hurt anyone (with hitting, kicking, punching, etc.). For your own physical safety (and your baby's safety!) I would suggest that the girl's mom take her daughter to their pediatrician and find out if this is something that requires counseling, medication, or behavior modification. She obviously feels like she has a measure of control over you b/c she can hurt you badly by kicking or hitting your stomach. By 5 years old her impulse control and reasoning should be more developed than 2/3 year olds who have tantrums. Also - does this girl do the same stuff at home? It's hard too b/c you don't want the other kids to mimic behavior like that!

Isn't raising kids difficult sometimes? Mostly, though, I love it.

Welcome back to all of you who've just returned from the World. I'll keep reading trip reports and try to catch up on this thread!

Good morning all!!

So anyhoo, the past two weeks I've been working on maintaining my 53 lb. loss.
Some exciting news -- during the past two weeks, I realized that I've brought my BMI down 10 points since April. I also bought some new clothes -- (I'm being brave here and putting this out there) I started in a tight size 26 and am now, for the most part, buying 16's and 18's.

(Side, side note: I went to my local Liz Claiborne outlet on Friday. They went from a retail outlet to a warehouse outlet over night (and didn't advertise it). I got 4 pair of work pants, 3 pair of comfy/workout pants, 2 work sweaters, and 2 long sleeve t-shirts for $100. Could have gotten winter jackets for $30 and blazers for $20, but I don't need them right now and don't want to waste my $$).

To 53 lbs down!! and a new start!

Smiles!

Congratulations! Wow, you have made fantastic progress. Keep up the good work. I like Liz Claiborne. If you check out their online store they have a sale section. I love to find a few pieces I like and keep my eye on them as they clearance them. I try and snatch them for a good price. It's kind of a sport.

See what Disney can do to you . . .

Most of my life I have been pretty hesitant about heights. Ok, down right scared. First I start riding roller coasters and finally this past month I work up to the TOT. Well I enjoyed it!

So a few weeks ago the fire department my husband works for held a Family Day. We got to ride in fire trucks running the siren (loved that) and all sorts of fun stuff. We also had the opportunity to ride in the basket of one of the trucks. I believe it goes about 110 feet. My kids were eager and everyone including the 4 year old took a turn.

My 10 y/o DD was going to ride with one of the public education ladies and her husband and I was going to take pictures. Well at the last minute I am thinking, hey I've ridden the TOT and survived, why not this? Plus who knows when I will get this opporunity to go again.

Now you do wear this lovely safety belt which is then hooked to the basket. BUT the basket is maybe 2 1/2 to 3 feet wide, and perhaps 4-5 feet long. Your view of the world below you is not obstructed!

Someone (?maybe DH) tells the operator to take it to the top (hmm . . his basket load didn't go all the way?). But since I am writing this post you know I survived and it actually was pretty fun. The basket does self level at times which is a bit attention getting but the view is cool. Below are some pictures I took from our ride.

I don't know what fear I will conquer next . . . hmm . ..

Go out and try something new! You might enjoy it!

pamrob: Awesome job. You are now ready to try the parasailing over at the Contempory where you can glide above the lake and have a great aerial view of Cinderella's castle and Spaceship Earth. I was terrified up there but you have now conquered a bucket so you should breeze through a parasail!!!

dance: First of all, I think you must have the hardest job in the world. Watching children. I admire your ability to do that and keep your sanity. That little girl needs some help. The parents should not take the word of one therapist. My DS26 is bipolar, has had serious problems since he was in 4th grade. It took many years of wrong diagnoses, different meds and different therapists to finally get some results but I never once bought off on the theory that he was normal. Sounds like her mom may need to stay home with her FT. I'm glad you are okay.

punkin: Loved your dog/wart story. My cresteds can have a great mohawk "do" themselves and it looks ridiculous. So glad that the bag of dogfood was missed--that could have been a big mess!!!

You are correct! :thumbsup2

thanks!

See what Disney can do to you . . .

wow......congrats! i have an irrational fear of birds. and i'm afraid disney has added to it rather than helping it because of the duck problem (and yes, it is a problem!) and those big white terrifying birds in frontierland!

FYI.....there's a disney marathon on the travel channel right now until 8:00 (eastern time) tonight. they just showed parts of spectromagic and it brought me back to two weeks ago....i teared up!

That does sound kind of fun . . . wonder if there are any major risks?

I am having one of those days where I am just looking for things to waste my time . . . think I'll go check out the Disney channel. Thanks for posting that!

Thanks everyone...it helps getting to ramble here I think. I agree it seems like she has some mental issues. I feel bad for her mom, because she really feels lost at what to try next. I told her again today when I talked to her to call another Dr. (I am still watching her 5 month old while they figure this out) She had her 5 yr old check up last week and her Ped was very little help. I just cant continue to watch her when I cant control her behavior more than that. I have watched kids with diagnosed issues before (ADHD, autism and bipolar disorder) and I was able to work with them because I knew what their issues are and how to approach it.

Today has been good....the baby I am watching sleeps ALOT, so I caught up on some TIVOed stuff and some sewing. I made a cute little outfit for DD to wear to the pumpkin patch. I will have to share pics when I can get her to model it for me ;)

I cant either

party: party::banana::jumping1: To Utahmama the best thread ever!!! yeah 20,000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:jumping1::banana::party: party:

No Way!!!! 20,000 posts!

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Sorry the link didn't work. It's in the new Trip Reports threads. Egads, it's overwelming! (in a good way!)

Pamrob!!!! Great! I can't believe you did that...so cool!

thanks!

My irrational fear, or phobia, is lobsters. I guess it's better than birds because they are easier to avoid. Well, except for the 2 years I lived on Cape Cod--that was pretty tough!!!

Wish I was home right now and could watch the disney marathon. This upcoming Saturday will mark the 3 month countdown and it's going by so slow.........

Hey Jen...so sorry about your day yesterday. I just wanted to chime in that this girl definitely needs to see a specialist, another pediatrician, therapist, someone! I have a client right now who is 5 and I felt like I was reading about her in your post (except for the violent parts but I wouldn't be surprised if she got that way sometimes). She is in speech therapy and has a private tutor and some other things. She also is under the care of a neurologist for seizures. I think she is on the autism spectrum too. At least the mom seems open and isn't blaming you for any of this. My kid's mom isn't exactly people friendly, doesn't discipline and told me what I should be working on in therapy (like counting? umm, since when does counting and numbers have anything to do with speech and language therapy?)

That mom sounds like a real treat! This mom is open to ideas it seems, but then again she has seen this behavior getting worse for a while now (seeing as how she took her to get checked a yr or so ago!) and hasnt made the effort to keep up with finding a solution. I also found out she has been asked to leave 2 other daycare situations in the past year....would have been nice to know that before agreeing to watch her kids!! I am not one to just give up on a kid though. I really want to help her, just wish I knew how

Ignore the crazy hair....she has some wild hair and was having too much fun twirling around for me to fix it. We have a great pumpkin patch here with a petting zoo and hayrides. We are headed there tomorrow I think. The weather is supposed to be about 85, but if they are wrong I can always put a shirt under this. This was my first adventure making a button hole and making something that buttons too :goodvibes

I wasnt going to come here and ramble...but I had a horrific day yesterday. As most of you know I babysit some kids in my home during the day. Well, one of them just turned 5 and she has been such a difficult kid pretty much since the beginning of when I started watching her 6 weeks ago. Her mom and I are at a loss as to what to do next, but Friday was bad and yesterday was worse. So bad in fact she had to leave work to come get her because I was terrified of her (YES, I know...she is only 5!!) and is keeping her home for the next few days until we can be sure she can control herself.

To give you an idea: Yesterday, she tried (unsuccessfully, thank goodness) to kick me in my belly 3 times but did manage to get me in my arms and legs. When she missed my stomach, which was her goal I am sure because she knows I am pregnant, she went after my sister (who comes to help me and teaches the older kids some preschool) and she got her in the back and in the chin. My sister then had to sit on the floor and hold her arms and legs from behind (kind of by giving her a big hug if you know what I mean) so she wouldnt hurt anyone or herself until her mom got there. Her mom is going to part time status starting next week but I dont know that it will help this or not. And she knows I cant continue to have her come here and act like this. I have seen Amanda start to mimic things she does and it makes me very scared to think she is being influenced by her so much.

Her behavior is worse than I have ever seen in the over 10+ yrs I have been watching kids. (And I have had some doozies over the years.) I have NEVER met such a smart mouthed, rude, disrespectful 5 yr old in my life. In recent weeks they have taken away all her toys and even taken her door off her room....she seemes uneffected. I dont even think Supernanny can help this kid, it is far worse than anything I have ever seen her deal with. I really feel for the mom because she took her to a therapist a yr or so ago and they said she was 'normal'. This is so not normal guys. I am exhausted just thinking what they go through at home.

Sorry for rambling, but it has been a rough few weeks. At least the next few days will be quiet for me:rotfl:

You just got this kid 6 weeks ago? She's probably been in and out of many. don't be hesitant with asking this family to leave. You have to think about your other "good" clients. You don't want to lose them. If they see this child acting out, you know it can cause trouble.

This mom is just biding her time. A child just doesn't act like this over night. The mom is in the know. Trust me. I've been through this too with my day care.

Give her the number to your local headstart, or call the school district and ask what program they have for chidlren with development delays, give it to the mom and wish her luck.

I'm not being unsympathetic, but, it sounds off to me.

Love it! Was this the first time you made an outfit? What did you use to tell you how to do it? Do you have sewing experience, cause I don't. I'm really thinking about learning how to do this.

DH has been in Nashville since Sat. Comes home tomorrow. I just want more than a five minute break!

WELCOME back Lynda!

Spongie hope you are feeling better.

Hope Sherman is healing.

:WOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOO on 20,000 peeps!:dance3:  :cheer2: :cool1: :yay: :woohoo:

Have a great night.

Very cute! :goodvibes

I wish we had more "fall" things down here. They always look so fun.

Spongie and UM I now know who to contact in order for Rebekah to have some cute clothes for her first Disney trip--it may be closer than I think :cool1:

In the planning stages, but can;t even make a ressie until November. We are thinking about going in June for a few days--if we do this then we will not get to go to the beach this summer. We are going to try and stay at Animal Kingdom Villas---hopefully they will still have a one bedroom availiable to rent. SHAME ON US HERE--but we will probably get a pass to Universal and do just a 3 day pass to Disney. We are still talking things over. We may even just go and hang out at the resort and still do a 3 day pass and just do things that we have never done before because of the lack of time. It will be very different for us--Andrew and Katie first went when they were 7 and 4---hence the 74 after pigget---Joshua has been 3 times, but this will be even more different since he will be 2.5 and then we will have an 8 mth old. I am excited, but the trip is very iffy so I am not even going to make a countdown yet. We have several things we need to pay off and if that happens we will go---if it doesn't we won't, but I am keeping my fingers crossed.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you. :goodvibes

Hey Peeps! I am back from my trip. :sad1: We got home Sunday evening. I'm back at work. Doesn't reality just suck sometimes? Anywho, we had a great time, met a LOT of DISers, and we are worn out.

Glad to see that your home and well. I hope (I know) you had a great time! :)

UPDATE ON CHRISTI----yesterday was a very emotional day for her DH--she has just been sleeping a lot here lately so when he would actually get in to see her she was asleep or very lethargic. Well last night she didher best to communicate to him without being able to talk. It just gave him so much hope. I just got got a phone call about 10 minutes ago that they have taken her off the vent. and she is doing well. She even SPOKE!!! Praise GOD!! They still have a long road to travel, but from going from we don't expect her to make it out if surgery to her speaking WOW!! She is no longer in critical condition but what they call guarded condition--not sure what that is--she should be in ICU for at least another 10 days if not longer. They are trying to get her left side stronger. Still have not heard from MAYO CLINIC.

RYAN is coming to visit this weekend :cool1: His dad wanted a weekend to rest, but Ryan was persistant that he come and visit his Hattiesburg family. Gotta love that kid. I am soooo excited to get to see him this weekend.

Well I need to go. Have a good one.

Your friend will definetly be in my thoughts and prayers. Yeah on Ryan's upcoming visit. :yay:

I am starting to wonder what else I dont know about this kid too. It is just very off and over the top behavior.

I actually just started sewing a few weeks ago, right before our trip. I made an outfit and a few dresses for her for that...mostly thanks to the Disney kids clothing/custom boutique thread on the families board here. I have owned a sewing machine for a LONG time and never did much of anything with it until I was inspired there. They are super helpful! I just used a easy pattern, a McCalls I think. (I have yet to try any patterns not marked easy on the front!) I say try it if you think you may like it....once you make something and finish it, it is a big high and encourages you to do something else. I am already planning to do coodinating stuff for our Xmas pics this year. (I usually buy the Xmas line from Gymboree for us, but being pregnant I wont fit into the biggest mommy size this year) If I can do it, pretty much anyone can.

I love teh outfit and your daughter is adorable.

It's only taken me an entire hour to catch up on all the posts since Friday.......... Of course, now that I'm caught up, I don't have a lot of time until I have to get to bed..............

We had a very hot (record setting temps) weekend and many of our friends had heat related issues and needed the paramedics. I spent lots and lots of time with the pirate: and a few princess: My children were water fairies on Sunday to try to curb some of the heat illnesses.

My weekend got off to a horrible start and I was quite angry at a few people. They decided to go behind my back and after I went to work on Fri, changed everything that I did with the education area, even though they appointed me as teh chairperson of the education commitee. They took some of my tables and a couple of displays. When I told them I wanted things returned or I wasn't going to continue to work with them, they decided to bad mouth me. I found out excatly how much support I have and how many people really like me aver the whole fiasco so it wasn't a total wash. I also was relieved of having to actually work so I got to hang out and enjoy my time. I had several people tell me they would love to have me work with them next year so I wasn't worried that I'd be dismissed for not playing nice with the other kids. (Turns out, no one likes or can work with the woman who spearheaded this little coup, she was told by a consultant; that she brought in, back in Jan that she needed to leave the organization because the way she treated people was doing long term damage to thier potential for growth and continued community involvement.........)

I put on a bit of weight but I'm sure most of it is water since I was so dehydrated all weekend and my body was hoarding every drop it possibly could.

I'll try to be back in the morning! Night all!

GOOD MORNING!

Look at me! Up early! Finally got to catch up properly....lots of long posts. Settling back in here at home BUT I have not exercised ONCE since I got back.....must exercise, must exercise!

I started in a tight size 26 and am now, for the most part, buying 16's and 18's.
Glad everythings OK...aside from your computer issues. GREAT JOB on the weight loss!!! I knew it was a big number! I think it's a good idea to set low and high calories for the day if you tend to go too low. Yay for new clothes!
I NEED to get back on track too because the numbers on the scale aren't pretty!
Yes! Reality sucks! Glad you and Josh got home OK. I check ed the Smug Mug...nuttin yet. I'll have to check the photopass too. I haven't had that issue yet...but I need to order mine too.
I just got got a phone call about 10 minutes ago that they have taken her off the vent. and she is doing well. She even SPOKE!!! Praise GOD!!
Praise God indeed! I am praying for her every day and thanking God for complete healing.
So the Air Force put me on the "Fat Boy" program. That's what they called it, even for us women. And for further encouragement, they had us do our weigh-ins in the hospital lunchroom at lunch time.
Sadists! No wonder you've been avatarless! This Fat Boy thing must ruin you for life as far as weigh in goes!
Her behavior is worse than I have ever seen in the over 10+ yrs I have been watching kids.
I'm with Monica...give her the number of head start. They have specialists at school who can help with these types of kids.....bless her little heart and her mom too. I hope they get it figured out. Sounds beyond just behavioral to me.
My sister has a lump on her thyroid and is scheduled for a biopsy next week. Thyroid cancer is what my brother survived and has led to all of his other problems, so it's a little scary.
Danielle....I totally missed this yesterday. Prayers headed out to your sister.
party: party::banana::jumping1: To Utahmama the best thread ever!!! yeah 20,000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:jumping1::banana::party: party:
WOO HOOTY, Christine!
Welcome back to all of you who've just returned from the World.
Thanks! Where ya been? Have you stayed away from the soda fountain? BTW....you're nekkid too! Go get yourself an avatar, sister! ;)
Don't know what fear I'll conquer next
Handle a snake? Heh. That would be my fear. Great avatar!
My weekend got off to a horrible start and I was quite angry at a few people.
Are we talking about the Ren Fair? What a nasty lady! She should stick to her own area and leave others alone. Too bad it was sooooo hot!

ROLL CALL.....noticably absent....

SANDY!
FIDGE!
TARA!
PIXIE!
ANNNAN!
DISMOM!
CELERY!
MINNIE MOO!

WINKERS!
AND OTHER PEOPLE I'M SURE!
