GOOD MORNING! :sunny:

OK....so....yesterday was eventful. I got a call from DD's principal at the middle school and she fell down the steps at school. She hurt her back which scared me. I got there and she was surrounded by teachers, had an ice pack on each arm, and her face was covered in mascara from the crying.

She shuffled out to the car and I took her to the UTC. The dr. determined it was her shoulder that was injured so she took an x-ray and couldn't determine if there was a break due to growth plates not being fused so they had to x-ray the healthy shoulder too. Anyway...she's still not sure and would like us to go to the orthopedist on Monday to have him look at the films. She's in a sling for the weekend.

BTW....says she's not wearing any sling at Disney no matter what's wrong with her.
Poor thing! I hope she is feeling a bit better today. I can imagine she was super sore yesterday. I know that when I have fallen I was more sore from trying to catch myself than the actually hit to the ground.

However, I'm thankful to say that I'm on the upswing. The last two weeks I have been calorie counting & keeping a regular journal along with 30 minutes on the treadmill 6 days a week, and I have managed to lose 3.9 lbs. My best friend and I have been doing the same thing and trying to support each other with phone call weigh-ins (she lives in Alabama) and I think that's helped keep both of us on track.
:cool1: Good for you for the losses the past 2 weeks! I know how hard it can be to get back on track after losing your way, so good for you for getting there!

Look what Mal got to do at the Zoo yesterday.

She got to fee a giraffe!

How cool!

the tea set is so cute! it's in a big clear tea pot with gold trim. i kinda wanna keep it!
Amanda has a similar one, but hers has pink trim. She has had it for about 2 yrs and still loves the heck out of it. Your neices will too. Hope you like to play tea party!

"going to church on Sunday doesnt make you a Christian, anymore than going to the garage makes you a car"

i love it. i really need to find a church i like. i honestly haven't put much energy into it. in the area i live in i just don't feel at home in any of the churches i've been to. i don't like the idea of judgment at church and that's all you get in this area. i grew up in a church where the elders slept through the sermons and the elders' wives gossiped about everyone and if you missed a sunday, there was some rumor started about why you weren't there. i HATE that! church should be a place where everyone feels comfortable and welcome and WANTS to come! and i'm the black sheep of my family when it comes to church....my older stepbrother is a minister and my cousin and his family are in brazil right now as missionaries. so it's not that i haven't been exposed to it.....just that i don't fit in with what i've seen SO FAR. anyway....that's my rant about church. i know there's one for me out there...just haven't found it yet.

oh, to be a little girl again! i was looking around at all the cool little costumes they have for halloween at the disney store yesterday and was envious that they didn't have that sort of thing when i was a kid.....i had a plastic barbie mask and basically a painted garbage bag hung over my shoulders as a halloween costume!!! although i probably wouldn't be a princess anyway...i'd be peter pan!

this year for christmas my goal is not to go overboard. i do EVERY year and we always end up broke. so the two shirts and tea set are for one set of nieces (they can share the tea set) and the barbies are for the other set of nieces (i have 4 total). now i just have to go back and get the barbie nieces some sort of clothing, too. why i didn't think of that yesterday is beyond me!

be careful with those tea sets - :rotfl2: DD graduated from the cute disney one to a porcelein tea pot - and IKEA cups and saucers - and apple juice - just this week, she started experimenting with REAL TEA!! :faint:

I sure hope its not because she knows I planned (ok well CELERY) to do the GF tea!!

So you and DD are doing the tea at the GF! DD and I did this in October (mainly due to the TR's of UM, GlendaMax, etc.). It is wonderful!!!!!! My DD is a chocolate milk addict, and for the little girls they give them "dark" tea which is a tea pot full of chocolate milk. They even poured it through the fancy strainer for her. It was fabulous! You will have a great time!

I hear you Dawn. I found an awesome Lutheran church that my best friend and I were going to last fall. Well she bailed out when her DH wouldn't go so that left me alone. It was just hard to do it on my own. DH's family are old-school Catholics and that is NOT the religion for me. He isn't practicing, luckily, but he also isn't ready to go to any type of church. Which is fine by me...I think he will come around at some point. I hate the judgment you find in most churches as well. This one was great..I really want to start going again. We'll see.

i hope the weather's as good wherever you are as it is here. we have all our windows open. it's so nice......73 degrees! i think the high today was 79. :cloud9:

look what we did......

obviously we had neglected our yard during the heat wave in august! this is the first day we've had to work on it. and that was just a small dose...most of the inside of our fence is bordered like that and was FULL of weeds. lots of fun to pull! but at least it was nice out!

and we have a couple of new friends in our yard....

i guess that green spider is pregnant? either that or she needs a batch of colon blow! :lmao:

That sounds liek so much fun!! Now I want to do the tea too, but we will be gone by the time you guys go. Maybe it isnt too late to book one for us though....yeah right!

As I have mentioned, if all goes as planned, I will finally be finished with my Master's in April 08, be certified and able to finally work and officially enter "the real world". To celebrate I'm trying to think of a really great vacation for late april or early may. It will probably be my mom and I. We had a great time on our first cruise this past April so that has come up again, but the only ones offered on that cruise line are the same cruise we went on.

Anyway, I don't want to say that money is no object, but we are willing to spend a little dough to have a really great vacation because I've worked really hard and once I start working, well, I'll be working.

Anyway, we have looked at a 5-night Cunard Cruise on the Queen Mary 2 (I know, fancy schmancy huh?). It goes from New York to Nova Scotia and Halifax, Boston and 2 days at sea before returning to NYC. We figured we would add on a couple days in NYC either before or after.

Then there is a 7 nt cruise on Princess out of Ft. Lauderdale. It goes to St. Maarten, St. Thomas (? I think?) and their private island. Maybe somewhere else. It's a caribbean cruise.

I'd also love to go to Hawaii. Maybe an Alaskan cruise. Las Vegas perhaps? Maybe just a Florida road trip - there are quite a few things I haven't seen in my native state. I don't know. We are saving our BIGGIE (a trip to our homeland, Ireland) for when DB and family can come as well. So what I'm asking for is some thoughts on fun vacations for us. I know Disney is an obvious choice, but I'm trying to branch out and do something a little different. I'd like it to be 7 days or less. I know it's pathetic, but I feel really bad boarding Phoebe for any longer than that. Heck, I feel bad boarding her at all. I like to be busy but also be able to relax.

So bring it on, what are some of you favorite vacations?

HI everyone!:goodvibes

Melinda,sending prayers Dd's way.Please keep us updated.

Mony mony,love the pics!:thumbsup2

Dawn, your neices are going to love the stuff from the Disney store.

Today my DH was talking football and said something about kicking his "****".Rachel said " no daddy you mean kicking his a**":scared1:

Hilarious until she says it at preschool....

I love that child:hippie:

I love Church too...at times...what i dont like about it is how someone else always feels the need to let you know when you miss church...take last night - my MIL calls and says "do the boys need a ride to church tomorrow?" and just her tone was so incredibly insulting...i'm still mad:mad:

I'm with Harley.....go for the Carribean cruise.

I think there will be a LOT of seniors on the QM2 cruise.

Hawaii sounds tempting too! My SIL used to vacation in Turks and Caicos every year and LOVED it there.

Carribean sounds the best to me. Good luck with your decision--book soon to get the best prices.

Joshua us finally over his tummy troubles so he and I can go back to school tomorrow :cool1: .

as far as cruises go, i'd personally go for the alaskan cruise. i've heard they're amazing. although if you like warm beach weather then that probably wouldn't be for you. if i could go anywhere in the world, it would be tuscany and venice, but that's just me. and that may be a little bit further than you're looking to go!

this is exactly what i'm talking about. i just don't feel like it's anybody's place to tell me how to practice my faith - it's between me and god. and church should be the last place people are judging you....that day's coming and we all know it!

hey peepers!

hey! see ya in a week! :yay:

I think there will be a LOT of seniors on the QM2 cruise.

I had this feeling as well! On their website I looked at a pic of one of the lounges on the ship and everyone there looked like they had been retired for a goof 10 years already. (not that there is anything wrong with that, but, as a 27 year old woman, traveling with a wide variety of ages is nice)

It's also a lot more $$$ than the Princess cruise. Not that those are our only 2 options. The thing is that the sun and the beach do not have the "wow" factor for me that it does for some people. I live it everyday. But I did really enjoy our 1st cruise, even without any of the beach-y stuff.

If this is the case then I would do the Alaskan cruise. This is something that I want to do as well--at least one day I do.

I don't think that they get that full. Granted it isn't a big place, but I don't think it is that popular. Although that may be different since it is FREE DINING right now. It is very affordable though too. Her lunch was about $8.50 I think. It was three triangle sandwiches. Ham/cheese, tuna salad, and PBJ and the tea pot of chocolate milk, and then her choice of two desserts. The swan was delicious! They were small, but oh so yummy! Our server even let her trade out her ham/cheese for another PBJ minus the PB. I guess that would make it a J sandwich! :rotfl: Give them a call, you never know unless you call!

You know a lot of churches have the "time clock" mentality. You need to be here so you can mark that you were here. Well there is more to religion than just sitting in a pew. I just don't understand why people are so hung up on that aspect. Sorry for getting on my religion soapbox.

Shannon - I think the Alaskan cruise would be wonderful, but it might have some seniors on it as well. My DH and I went to NYC this summer while the kids went to church camp, and it is my favorite place to visit now. There is so much to do and see. I think the cruise that would start and end there would be great too. I think you will have fun no matter what because you will have your schooling behind you!:teacher: :dance3:

I meant to say something about the GF Tea earlier, but I kept forgetting. I did it a couple years ago with my then 2 year old niece and mom. It was great! I'm not a huge fan of tea sandwiches and such, but the scones and desserts were delicious. They even let my niece drink her "tea" (choc milk) out of Royal Doulton china. My poor mom was freaking out every time she took a sip that she would drop it. The service was amazing too. It does fill up...the lounge is not that big. But I also think it depends what time of year you go. We went around Mother's Day so we had to be pretty flexible with times and dates. Definitely call though because you never know.

And I just love the New England area, so combining that with a new love of cruising just sounded so fun to me! I'm ok with some seniors, don't get me wrong. I just don't want to feel like an oddball. Our last cruise had a good mix of families, couples, friends, seniors. We have time to think about it though. And you are quite right...once the semester ends, I'll be ecstatic to be going anywhere!

Just wanted to share with you all that the former crush just called. :confused3 Completely unexpected since he never ever returned my call from a WEEK ago asking him to lunch. He just called to say hello, how was my weekend, etc. He mentioned lunch and said he just got the message. Truthfully, I sort of believe him. He is very odd about his cell phone. Never has it on. But I'm still annoyed with him. These are the times when I wish I could read someone's mind.

That sometimes happens with our phones. We don't know why, but sometimes days go by, and then we get a message.:confused3 I'm just saying, it could happen.
