I didn't realise all my "Friends" were hanging out here otherwise I would have joined weeks ago. :yay: And Melinda - Yes you are cheeky, especially about the way I "talk" :rotfl2:

See you later I'm going for a half hour walk before picking the DD's up from school, see you're a good influence already and it's not raining here so got to make the most of it. :rotfl:

Let me tell you what happened to me last night and how I coped so that you can NOT do the same thing...

Ok, let me set the stage. We leave for Disney early Saturday morning. Between then and now, I have literally 9237 things to do. Last night's agenda was a Brownie meeting. I am a Brownie leader and last night was my turn to host the Try-It and bring a snack and drink. Now, over the weekend I was a good dieter and made brownies with frosting as a troop snack and only had a 1/2 of one for dessert Sunday night :cool1: . Before you congratulate me, let me finish...

Last night, I had to get all of the Try-It stuff to get together to bring to the meeting, I also had to pack up all of the troop items, such as cookie sale material (I know this is a bad place to peddle cookies, so I won't even try ;) ). Anyway, I had a lot to do in the 45-mins between the time I got home from work and the time that the troop meeting started. I walk in the door from work and see the kitchen is a PIG-STY. And I don't mean the kind of pig-sty that everyone's mom referred to when they were little and a pair of socks were left on the floor in your bedroom. I mean an actual pig-sty. Lunch plates and crumbs all over the table, trash can spilled over with trash on the kitchen floor, jackets and gloves and shoes thrown everywhere, etc. Most of the items I had gathered together for the troop meeting were now MIA. Worse yet, about 3/4 of the 2-dozen brownies that I made for our meeting were missing and the meeting started in 45 mins :scared1: . Then my husband comes crawling into the kitchen (literally). He had been home with the kids but threw his back out painting the bathroom and could not stand up straight. Thus, the kids DD6 and DD4 and two dogs had run of the house all afternoon while he was in bed. So, I did what any good overweight emotional eater would do, I finished off the 6 brownies with frosting that remained.

Ok, fast forward to bedtime. I made it through the meeting, cleaning up, finished up all of my tasks, and went to bed at a reasonable time (although I did not get to do any of my packing or other vacation-related things). I was up all night with heartburn from the 6 brownies with frosting. I may have slept 2 or 3 hours, I can't remember. No pepto or tums because it was DH's turn to go to the store and he couldn't because of his back. So I laid there in bed with my chest burning and thinking, why, why, why did I do this to myself? :sad2:

Finally, it is morning. I wake up at 5am so that I can get the Dkids dressed and fed and be in work by 8am (I have an hour drive). While I am doing that, the DDog gets into the trash again, eats heaven-knows-what, and then regurgitates it nine times in nine different places on our new ivory carpet - :thumbsup2 - Just what I need! Out with the SpotBot as I am hurrying the kids along. Everytime I bend over to move the SpotBot, I have horrible heartburn again and think of those brownies

So, long story short (Too Late!), if you get tempted to eat anything you shouldn't today out of frustration or emotion or whatever - DON'T! Think of my heartburn and lack of sleep and how it just made things much worse for me and how I am still paying for it! The brownies were not even that good! :guilty: :guilty: :guilty:

Have a skinnie minnie day everyone!

P.S. - If anyone out there is saying prayers today, please think of our family and pray that DH's back is better for our trip - we really need this trip and leave in 4 days!

Wait, you have IVORY carpet with kids and pets?

Just Kidding, at least you have a spot bot. I need a spot bot daily!

Welp, I'm so sorry you had a very bad afternoon and evening!!!! Your poor DH needs a nice HOT soak and some muscle relaxers! I hope he's all better for your trip, you lucky girl!!!!

I'm so sorry you had a bad night/morning. I hope the rest of your day goes better and I will pray for your DH's back to get better so that you all will have a magical trip. pixiedust:

Sorry to point out your typo but I'm picturing you trying to pry her DHs back into shape. "Come on now, we're going to try this crowbar...gotta pry your back, back into shape! Only a couple days til Disney... can't have your back out!...Work with me here. It'll only hurt a little....You'll just feel a little pressure!":rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I am a 29 year old born and raised in Southeastern MA....I am an only child and am very close to my lovely parents, who live about 30 min. from me.
My boyfriend moved in about a year ago..it will be 2 years for us this coming February..and he is fantastic! He is a bit younger than me ( almost 3 years) and a firefighter to boot..JACKPOT! :rotfl2: We are very happy and enjoy traveling, cooking , TIVO (haha) and spending time with our friends. We have a black cat, Molly...and a black lab..Chief.
I am still not sure what i want to be when i "grow up"...i have degrees in both Elem. Education and Psychology..but am currently working as an administrative assistant...basically trying to figure out what i want to go to Grad school for...one day i will figure it out!
THE WEIGHT THANG:
Basically i have always had weight issues, i was a chunky kid, always about 15 lbs heavier than i should have been ( would love to have just 15 on me now!)...but always felt heavier and unattractive in my mind. I thinned out a bit during my late teens to mid twenties until i had surgery to remove a dermoid cyst AND my right ovary. That was in 2004 and between then and now I am 40 lbs heavier...and here i am now...happy, determined and ready to experience my life healthier than ever! I am hitting 30 with a bang this summer! :cool1:

I did the WDW College Program Jan - May 1990. I worked in Outdoor Foods (ice cream cart) or in the bakery or ice cream shop. One of my best choices ever. Went back a couple of more times with my college band. (In case you care, I play the clarinet.)

Yay! Another WDW College Program Alumni! I did mine in 2002 - worked attractions at Epcot.

And I was in the band from 6th grade all the way through college too! I played the trombone though. Great way to meet guys LOL.

Hope everyone is having a skinny day! I'm about to start a Veeeerrrrryyyy long day of school...

I'm with Stacey. Twinkie totally got me hooked on TRs!!!

My goal for the week is to drink not more than one soft drink a day. I've been "drinking my calories" as they say - such a waste of all the exercise effort - plus just bad for me.

I also am going to walk on the treadmill three more days a week than I have been.

I can't make more changes than that in one week, but I'm getting close to a big trip - less than eight weeks - not to Disney :confused3 ! But I'm pretty sure will be great anyway!!

Plus hopefully all of this will help me get ready for Disney in May - Lynda, I know you asked - the 20th thru the 25th. Seems like I noticed your dates and we overlap? I'll definitely have to "keep an eye out" for you!! I really enjoyed looking at your pics. I've been trying to get both my prints and digital pics organized - very slow process...

I think the most important thing I've learned is to not start over tomorrow when you mess up the diet/exercise thing... start over now. If you ate something you shouldn't - go walk and eat good things the rest of the day. And don't give up - no matter how many times we make the bad choice we're making lots more good choices than we were before!

Uh, yeah! We will be at WDW 5/18 (our anniversary) - 5/26, so the same time as you! :) I'll be the one with the camera attached to my face.

OK everyone. I am trying to collect recipes in a somewhat organized fashion as part of one of my goals this week. That way DH has selections he can choose from, so he doesn't have to ask me, "Can you have this? Can you have that?" repeatedly. I have the recipes for the soda and punkin cupcakes & the pooh: muffins. I thought I had the sweet potato "fires", but I guess I was wrong. :( I hate to ask, but could anyone move it up or just clue me in to what one of the pages it might be on is? :confused3 Also, what else am I missing??? I remember there being a barbeque chicken pizza. Was there anything else I have missed or forgotten?

Good morning peeps! I'm on Day 2 and so far, so good. I survived a whole day without snacking and didn't drink any Pepsi! :thumbsup2 But... I'm HUNGRY! I think my body is starting to catch on that I'm being good - and it's kicked the hunger into overdrive! :sad2:

Please post your top 5 favorite 'good for you' snacks!

Thanks so much!

...off to the treadmill... ugh...

RED ALERT!!!

Here's what my desk looked like this morning when I came to work...
cookies.jpg

Then there was a whole 9x13 container of fudge in the workroom and some nice minister brought doughnuts for the whole staff! See why it's so hard to maintain a nice weight here!

OK, my top 5 favorite healthy snacks, in no particular order, are...

1) popcorn (not the uber-bettery kind - light or 94% fat free)
2) an apple w/reduced fat peanut butter (Yummy!)
3) hummus w/black bean tortilla chips (right now, I am using sun dried tomato hummus)
4) WW cakes (the ones that come in lemon, chocolate, & carrot cake varieties - I love them all and eat them from the freezer!)
5) almonds, preferably honey roasted

I do have some fat free cool whip in the freezer though. I plan on trying it (still frozen) with some strawberries as soon as I can find some decent strawberries here in frigid Illinois. Once I try that, it may be bumped up into the top 5. ;)

 :faint: please no more food porn...I CANT TAKE THE PRESSURE!!! (neither can my pants thats why I'm here):rotfl2:

I am half through catching up from last night and I figured I'd better stop and quote now or it will be 8 miles long...

You read my mind, I was going to ask if you made a book, if I could have a copy!! :goodvibes Did you snag a pic of me?

Nope, still need a pic!

Oh just an interesting tidbit, my best friend in the whole world has my very same birthday! I met her here in AL, and our kids are the same age, and we are so much alike. Well, at least I won't have to turn 40 alone! We can do it together! Maybe we could come to the Peep meet together?:scratchin Although she doesn't DIS, she is very understanding of my addiction! :rotfl: :rotfl2:

Dismom and I have been best friends since we were 14. Her b-day is Jan 7th and mine is Jan 8th. Due to the time differences in where we were born, she is actually only 7 hours older than me. She used to tease me about it (on the 16th and 21st fun b-day), but now that we are getting "old" I don't let her forget that she is older!

Okay, kind of bummed - 24 is on the same time as Heroes! What is a girl to do?

No sweet tea in Disney. Isn't Florida in the south?:confused3

You need to get a DVR or TIVO - they are the only way to survive!!!

And no, Florida is not the south...it is the home of transplanted northern snowbirds and they DO NOT know how to drink Tea!

And as for tea - the sweeter, the better. I use 2+ cups of sugar in a gallon...it is the only way to drink it! Alas...it has been a while since I have had any...not exactly diet material. :sad2:

My Top 5 snacks:

1. veggies dipped in Hummus (edamame, baby carrots, broccoli)
2. Yoplait light yogurts
3. string cheese
4. Thursday Pooh Muffins
5. beef jerkey

extra credit:
6. 16 Wheat Thins
7. lunchmeat and sliced cheese rolled up
8. almonds
9. hard boiled egg
10. peanut butter in celery
11. slim fast snack bars ("optima" has lots of protein)
12. McDonalds parfet (How do you spell that???)
13. Crystal Lite Slurpee at 7-11 (or diet pepsi slurpees when they have them)
14. Trail Mix-pick out the M&M's and give them to DH who thinks he's so cool for losing 40 pounds in the time it took me to lose 8!!!!
15. air-popped pop corn or 94% lite microwave popcorn

TIP:
Protein literally keeps you full longer than carbohydrates.
