I just talked to my pastor's wife. She was taken off life support this morning. She is an organ donor, so they are going through that process right now. I cannot imagine how unbelievably difficult this must be. Did you know them?

Sorry, the "Did you know them?" question was for Pigget. I am still on drugs!

i am laughing at the perky comments i wish i could have perky party i take off my bra and i knock mayson out standing next to me .:rotfl2: no really i have breastfed 5 kids and as i excercise nothing is deflating i was just breats oops:rotfl: :rotfl: i meant blessed i had size DD's in high school. and now who know's maybe when i loose the weight i want and do my tummy tuck i will have a lift also :cloud9: ...i don't know what i would do if i lost my :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc.. i think lil mayson is tired he is laying on the floor half awake playing with a car (kinda reminds me of the blockbuster commercial with the mouse )from the superbowl that was my favorite i laughed until it hurt... well i will chit chat later. :cutie:

I would just like to lay on my back and not have the girls disappear into my armpits!

OK, need some fast Mom help here...how high does a fever have to be before I should be concerned?? My 4yr old has a fever of almost 102. Is that scary high or just high? I have been giving her tylenol all afternoon, but she was late getting it when she was sleeping and her fever crept up. Any tips?? I am giving her popsicles and lots of fluids but the poor thing is still on fire :(

Al gave the same advice I was going to give. Fevers are always scary. My DS ran 104.5 when he had the flu. The nurse just told me to put him in a lukewarm bath and rotate tylenol and ibuprofen every two hours. He just tends to run high fevers for some reason.

Our Pediatrician has started charging $25 for after hours calls! :scared1: I only call if it is really an emergency, and I see blood! :scared1: :rotfl:

 That is crazy!

Hope everyone had a good day. I ate a hot fudge sundae from Mcd's. :sad2: The rest of the day I did good. We cooked center cut pork chops tonight with veggies. Very good. I love the Yoplait Whips. The Latte one is really good. And I usually hate yogurt. Okay, I am going to go do my last dining review installment. Then I can start on the trip report.

I know it is crazy for them to charge, but I go to a very large practice. There are six Dr.'s in the practice. To there defense, if every mom called for every little thing, they would never get off the phone. Not to say that a high temp. is a little thing. It is just if you imagine, all the patients each dr. has, and multiply that by six. It would be ALOT! They are wonderful Dr.s, and they are open on Saturdays and Sundays for the "really" sick kids, and they will squeeze in every last one of them. I think they do it just to cut down on the people who don't really need to call. My neighbor goes to the same practice, and she calls for everything! I think she is one of the ones they are trying to deter, but it doesn't work. ;) :rotfl:

Hi Everyone!

I'm just checking in to say hi to everyone and to let you know that I was going to thank each of you personally for welcoming me into your wonderful group. However, I just spent the last hour catching up on the many pages posted since yesterday and so maybe next time I multi quote and respond to each of you individually. I also want to say congratulations on the numbers 400 and 6000. WOW!!!! for those that are sick, had a rough day, or just need encouragement.

My day has been okay. It was difficult getting to my microbiology class today (icy roads) and once I was there it didn't get much better. I think the reason I had such a bad day today was because tomorrow will be 5 years since losing my dad and the radio always manages to play the really sad songs, about losing a loved one, right when you need something a little more uplifting.:sad1:

Hello all!

I have been very busy the past few days and just now got caught up. I have been reading a few pages, here and there, whenever I could. On Friday, my pooh: muffins hadn't yet kicked in before weigh in. Well, they did later on, and I re-weighed, and I was down another 1.8 lbs! Well, it was at a different time of day, so who knows? :confused3

DH and I left for Chicago after work on Friday, stopped for dinner on the way, and went to the Field Museum and the Museum of Science and Industry on Saturday. We came home and had people over for the Super Bowl on Sunday. On Friday, I was good. I wrote down what I ate, but left it out in the van, and it is WAY TOO COLD to go out there and get it, so you will just have to trust me! And when we went out to eat, I had the salad bar & shrimp cocktail. On Saturday, I had 2 pooh: muffins for breakfast. (Yes, I took pooh: muffins with me.) For lunch I had a turkey sandwich on sun-dried tomato focacchia, fruit cup, and organic lemon vanilla cookies. For dinner, I had a dinner salad and chips and salsa at Chili's, so I'm pretty sure I stayed within calories on both Friday and Saturday. I was sooo proud of myself that we were out and away from home, and I still made good choices. Of course, it helped that DH was supportive, and I knew that I had to be accountable to you Peeps. :goodvibes Sunday was my cheat day. I went a little bit overboard and also forgot to take my Prilosec, so I was NOT feeling well Sunday night (waiting on pooh: muffins to kick in again!), but I'm much better now. :thumbsup2 :lmao:

Today, it is sooooooooooooooooo cold here! When I left for work it was -5 degrees with a wind chill of -20! Yikes!:scared1:

I was back on track today, of course.

B: oatmeal & yogurt smoothie (220), Fuze drink (20)
L: SBD wraps w/ Jello & sf/ff Jello pudding (280)
S: 7 Triscuits (120)
D: pork stir fry (345)
S: 14 honey roasted almonds (80), no sugar added fudgesicle (40)
S: one WW carrot cake & one WW chocolate cake (160)

TOTAL: 1265 calories & 76 oz. water so far

I'm going to go get some more water and attempt to work on my trip report. I REALLY need to catch up with Monica! :rotfl:

I believe it was pigget who asked who was planning on going to the meet in January. I am planning on going. I think that my DH will be with me, but I am not sure yet. We are not sure yet, but it is our plan to go. I plan to do the Fun Run. I am a little concerned about the pace, but I will work on it.

I hope everyone who is under the weather is getting better as I'm typing. And I hope eveyone is having a skinny minnie day! Love to my peeps! :grouphug:

One more thing!

To dismom9761 and everyone else, you may certainly call me Fran. In fact, there are very few people that call me Francesca and mostly those people are my college professors who can't pronounce it correctly.

Little kids tend to spike pretty high especially if it is viral. Have you seen the doctor? My DS used to go 103-104 every time.Tepid bath water is a good way. I used to let them eat popsicles and blow bubbles in the tub to keep them in it.Is she keeping any fluids down?

Yeah! My dining report is done!
DD has a bad sprain, they do not think it is broken. But they told her to stay on crutches until this weekend.
Good night peeps!

Ok, I have been working on my TR from my trip back in October. I know, I am really slow. I am typing it in a Word document, so that I can just cut and paste it when (and if) I decide to post it here. That way when people ask for more, I will look like a hero (BAM there it is).

Anyway, I am starting to get the chills. So I have all the symptoms that are listed on the NyQuil bottle, so I think I am going to go take some, and get some rest. I have to work tomorrow. I probably caught this from one of my preschoolers germy hands. ;)

I forgot to say :welcome: to all the new peeps! :goodvibes You have come to the right place!

Am so glad I decided to join. Might have helped keep my eating in check this evening. As I said before, I'm about eating better, exercising & trying to get healthy. I actually had a SALAD with dinner tonight ... and a glass of water. This is succcchhhhh a step for me! More veggies, less spaghetti! Water & not soda. Who'da thunk it?

I did want to add I'm also up here in the cold frozen regions of IL - near Hawthorn Mall if you know what I mean!! And about that edit job... I was contacted by someone (maybe you!!) to work as a proofreader... I was sent a standard "test" but real life got in the way, and I never got a round to it!!

Eeyore45...
I know what you mean about life getting in the way. However, it probably wasn't me that contacted you about proofreading. The organization I work for is not-for-profit. I farm out some design work, but I do most of the proofing. Blech!

My Dr. considers that "just high" not dangerous high. I think 104 is dangerous. I always gave my kids a lukewarm bath. Not cold because it will make them shiver, which will make the fever go higher. Try keeping cool compresses (like a wet washcloth) on her head and neck. That will keep her comfortable. I hope your baby gets better soon. Give her a big kiss!puckerup:

Oh, and you can rotate between Tylenol and Motrin. Give her a dose of Tylenol, and then two hours later give her Motrin, then two hours later, Tylenol. Keep rotating until you can get her temp. down. If that doesn't get her temp down after the second Motrin dose, I would call the Doc.

Do consult your doctor - This mom had her dd hit 106 - 11years difference between oldest and youngest, and her 106 was the FIRST EVER!! Talk about panic... yet, the doctor said, tepid bath for a certain amount of time, popscicles (see how smart Peeps are) and call him back in 2 hours... he said I could go to the ER, but we'd sit for 2-4hours waiting, and she'd benifet with the bath and cold treat... (get fluids in her)

and I did tell him I was rotating the Tylenol (aceteminphen) Motrin (Ibuprofen) he said "who told you that?" :confused3 He said "DONT do that!" so, just know to talk to your doctor... and fluids are essential!! I told my kids drown a fever (flush out those bad germs!!)

Thanks!! I didnt want to call the Dr after hours line for something I knew another mom would know. I thought she was probably OK, but just wanted to check.

:scared1: We can opt to talk to a nurse practitioner for free, I do think the docs are a $fee... we have 6 peditricians, and 2 nurse practitioners... lol at your friend!!

Our Pediatrician has started charging $25 for after hours calls! :scared1: I only call if it is really an emergency, and I see blood! :scared1: :rotfl:

Try the Motrin thing, it will at least make her more comfortable, and maybe she will sleep, and that will help heal her too. Good luck! (that one is for you and DH) Having a sick baby is hard on the whole family.

One terrible year 4 of us had fevers... :rolleyes1 dh said he was sick... but at the docs he was fine!! :rotfl2: I started a chart to keep track of everyone's meds and foods.. and fluids... I had a fever of 102!! I wasnt doing so good!!

I thought I quoted your stellar advice!!

Way past bedtime, I forgot what else I wanted to chat about...

It has taken me hours to read all the posts from the weekend and throughout today, but I think I finally have!

I was going to comment on some, but now they are out of my head! :confused3 (another senior moment!)

We're freezing here as well! Seems the cold front is everywhere! 2 degrees tonight with windchill of -15! Glad I had nowhere to be tonight!

Hope you ladies (and grumpydude) are staying warm tonight! I'll be back in the morning!!! :hippie:
