Are there any disadvantages to booking through AAA? We are booked now through Disney in September at POR, but when we checked with AAA, it is saving us about $800. (There are 15 of us going) My dad is taking us all for his 50 th anniversary and he is wanting to cancel and do this with AAA today. We can still get free dining if available right? And we can do the ADRs and everything just as if we were still booked through Disney? Any quick advice greatly appreciated!

The only thing that i see with booking throught AAA or any TA is that they have to be the one to speak to Disney about changes to your reservation. For example.. you change who is in what room or the dates you are going they would have to handle that for you. You still have control of your ADR and anything else as if you book through Disney.

I'm pretty sure AAA can move the reservation over for you

Also if free dining does come out, you don't get to use the AAA rate, you have to choose one or the other

Thanks guys!

Just to clarify: You cannot recieve free dining and the AAA rate? We are positive about that right? :) I just want to make sure I'm passing on correct info- this could make a difference in whether we switch or not.

And I will see if the reservation can be transferred too. Thanks!!!!!

Ok, we are transferring ressies to AAA... my dad called the AAA agent and he has assured him that we can have both free dining if available and the AAA discount, I'm not so sure, after doing a little searching....it doesn't look like that is the way it works. Anyone????? Please?????

You can NOT get both discounts. More than likely the free dining will save you a lot more than the AAA one anyways. (Former AAA TA here) Once the ressie is changed over, it will be adjusted to reflect the AAA rate. If the free dining comes out, and you are booked during that time period, your AAA TA SHOULD call the morning of the discount code release and have it applied. (I used to do it on my own, but some AAA TA's need the go ahead from the client). I would then call and surprise the clients with what they saved. Let me know if you have any other questions! :thumbsup2

Ok, thanks so much! I won't be able to convince my dad of this though:sad2:

This guy has assured him he won't let it happen ( losing the AAA discount that is)

But, you're right, FD will save us more, so I guess I will just let it be...

Can we still call 3 days early and apply the FD, because we are Disney Visa holders?

As long as they release the Visa code before the public code, of course you can! :goodvibes

Yep, that's what I meant. Thank you soooo much, I feel a bit better about all of this now :cool1:

See...the agents that don't know the rules....They make the rest of the AAA TA's (and even those of us who are formers) look really bad! Sheesh!

My understanding would be AAA would need to do the calling. Anyone correct me if I am wrong.

That is what you need to make sure is okay with you. Once you switch to AAA, they own the res, even once it is paid.
About the only control you will have through Disney is ADRs, as mentioned.
