While filling out my taxes this year I noticed a section about caring for disabled children. This is just a form sent out by our accountant that says "if the child is disabled check yes".
I know that we can deduct the out of pocket medical expenses but is there anything else?
Thanks for the help.

If you are providing support for a child that is over the age of 18 who is disabled then you are still able to claim that child as a dependent.---Kathy

Our accountant told us that to check yes in that box you must have written documentation from the childs doctor stating that they are permanently disabled. The IRS offers some tax breaks for families caring for disabled members so be sure to call your accountant and check it out. Either way, you will be able to file a long form and claim all of your medical expesses ( don't forget all the milage on your car ).
