This is the kind of story that's not a story. It's just a collection of tweets they gathered by doing a search for "Iger".Looks like Bob Iger is being slammed now after the Kimmel suspension.

“The ratings are so bad”- compared to what? Last ratings released had Colbert at 2.42 viewers, Kimmel at 1.77 million, and Fallon at 1.19. (Myers has 900,000 and Daily Show has 994,000, though those aren’t necessarily direct competitors given time and broadcast.) And this is Colbert’s last year. So if this is just a ratings battle, I am absolutely shocking that Fallon hasn’t been cancelled.First, to be clear, Kimmel has been cancelled. He is not coming back. In doing a quick search on the internet, after Kimmel was originally suspended he was considering quitting over what he perceived as censorship-- There was never going to be an apology. The ratings are so bad that his show is going to be replaced (according to rumors) with the game show "Family Feud". The uproar is greater than when the original Star Trek was cancelled--and it still had good ratings.
Remember when Eisner spoke up in support of Roseanne and Gina Carrano?
Yeah I don’t either.
That and Disney wasn’t actively having meetings over getting Roseanne and Gina back on the air.In those cases there was no pressure from government agencies at play. That is a key difference in this case.
That’s because the government agency is question is responsible for regulating the airways. It’s not a good idea to lie about half the country. If Disney though Kimmel was right, they could have paid the fine the FCC accessed. In those cases there was no pressure from government agencies at play. That is a key difference in this case.

Agreed.I'm not going to get into all that or we're going to end up with the mods in here, but I am just pointing out that those previous incidents involving Disney are different situations than the current one, and it is reasonable that someone might assess them differently.

Which is why the affiliates said they would drop him, and ABC suspended him. The system worked as it should.I've seen a lot of misinformation about television regulation posted by people who don't understand what the FCC does. Only individual TV stations that broadcast over the air have licenses. The FCC can't fine networks or cable TV stations, and those entities have no "licenses" that the agency can revoke.
Therefore, Disney would never have to pay any fines "accessed" [sic] by the FCC except for any FCC actions involving the stations ABC actually owns. There are hundreds of ABC affiliates and only a handful are actually owned by ABC.

When broadcasters violate FCC guidelines, the first penalty is usually a fine. What fine?
