So confused :(

I haven't been to Dis since, gosh 1989 when I was 23 and went with friends! I sure sounds like a much different place today, as I read around here, it all seems so foreign. I need help !!! please ! Oct trip visit to DIS !

I need to fly myself, dmil and dd (10) from Boston to Ft Myers in Oct to see family in Naples, during our stay, we will drive to DIS for 3 nights. 3 adults, 3 kids (ages 2,4,10). We will return to Naples for a day and then fly out from Ft Meyers back to Boston.

My questions are :

What decent hotels are on the property but not cost a furtune?

Are there FL resident discounts for DIS?

Should I book plane and hotel seperatly myself? Better deal ?? (we do not need a car we will have the van we are driving in from Naples)

With lil kids, is it a plus to stay in the park so the lil ones can be brought back to the hotel via monarail for a nap while the rest of us can stay in the park and we do not all have to leave for the day ?

I just do not know where to start to book this trip :( there is so much to know and some of you already have done this ....... hep please ! any advise would be much appreciated ! :)

My advice would be to definitely stay on-site with small children. The values are reasonable - The All Stars or Pop Century and the moderates are too - Carribean Beach, Port Orleans or Coronado Springs. Check mousesavers for the Florida Residents Room Only codes to save even more money. Relax, once you get your bearings half the fun of going is planning. Also check the restaurant boards to see where you'd like to eat and make some priority seatings ahead of time.

There should definately be resident rates for October.

Check mousesavers.com for room rate specials.

You would need two rooms at a value resort...All Stars or Pop Century. Both are great, basic rooms with good bus service.
Laid out very conveniently...no matter what building you are in..you are know more than a few minute walk from everything...pool, food court, laundry rooms, bus stop etc.
Food in food courts very good.

Moderate resorts..we find they are sprawling and inconvenient.
Food in food courts mediocre. With six people, you would need two rooms here also. We find they are not worth the price..any price.

It is usually cheaper to do air/hotel separately. I love to get my air through travelocity.com. Great air fare sales going on now as well.

HI. Yes, I agree that booking your room and hotel separetly is cheaper. There are some great rates right now, go online and check at the airlines, web sites.

For six people you will need two rooms or a cabin in FW. They sleep six but you would need to pay extra adult fee. With FL resident rates I think it still would be pretty reasonable. That way you would have a full kitchen.

Don't forget to buy your park tickets in advance, quite a little savings there also. Depending on what time you arrive, it sounds like you'll need three day park hoppers. I think you can call and get those from some of the online ticket brokers. I am not sure that you can get them from the disney web site.

Have a great time!

Check out POR, the rooms in the AB section have trundle beds, it is great for kids and the rooms are a larger. AB 14, 15, 16, are close to the main building, parking and several pools.

Thanks so much for all the help everyone ! So if we stay at All Stars or Pop Century .... where do I make those reservations ? Please point me in that direction. There is so much reservation choices online, I do not want to get "used" by my ignorance.

Thanks and keep the info coming please, I am starting to feel a bit better already !

If you want to get the FL resident rate, and you yourself aren't a FL resident, you'll probably have to book the rooms in your relative's name, or have the relative book the rooms. In order to get that rate, the person booking must call Disney directly at 1-407-W-DISNEY and ask for a Florida resident room-only rate (not a package, unless you really want to pay for a package with those length of stay passes). The Florida resident rates for that time period might be coming out soon, like in the next month or so, so keep watching these boards for that, so you know when you can book.
