Dis Old Fogies Clubhouse – Six of One, Half Dozen of the Other. Makes No Difference!

Nice way to ring in the new year Bobbi.
Thank you!
We we’re supposed to do this last year, but we both got sick. This year we’re both ready to go!
Are you celebrating New Years?

I see the talk before was on cars. My car, which is the lesser used at this point is a 1999 Saturn SW with 205,000 miles. It took me to Nancy’s house and back last week, 200 + miles. It’s been mine since October 1998, and hard for me to let it go. I like the new safety features on new cars, so its time is coming. The dealership had to home make a part the last time it went in. Parts are hard to find.:guilty:

We have our family and neighbors for NYE and I make lasagne.

I'm liking the new features on my car.

Our last car was a 2003. The final straw was when the check engine light went on. It needed a new catalytic converter. Not sure if the rest of the US needs those or just CA. It would cost $2500 for an out of dealer repair place and that's just not worth it for a 17 years old car.

So we got a new little car and a new minivan.

Checking in on the Old Fogies.

The state I live in is burning and the smoke has blown over Melbourne. It's a day to stay indoors and catch up on social media.

We've been wondering how you were doing with all the fires. I know the feeling after our valley was so smokey during the summertime the last few years. I feel so sorry for those affected.

So I'm guessing you're affected in the way we were, the smog is hazy and the air stinks, but you are much too urban to be in danger of the flames....correct?

Yes that's correct for us, we barely saw the sun all summer of 2018. We do have grass fires around us occasionally. We're in pretty good shape now we have walnuts trees around one side, wine grapes on the backside, pasture in the front so only one side exposed that's usually planted in hay.

Today is our last night of our NYE vacation. We are at Vero Beach and will have dinner with friends we originally met here on the Disboards. I suppose many of us (almost all?) met here on the Disboards! :)

Are your outside temperatures finally coming down? I'm praying for some improvement in the conditions for all the firefighters over there. It's so heartbreaking to see all the destruction on the news.

I bet you took some great pictures at the zoo.

Still warm here. We haven't hit peak summer yet.......

.....the authorities are saying its going to be bad again this weekend. I can't imagine living in one of those areas in the bushfire zones right now. So sad. I have had to stop watching the news. It's heartbreaking enough seeing the people that have lost homes but its devastating seeing what has happened to the wildlife and their habitat.
