I signed up for that free CBS thing online where you can watch the first 3 rounds for free online...so I'll be sneaking a peak at the daytime games Thursday and Friday.

As good as last tournament was, I hope this time I'm at least close with my picks in the Final 4. George Mason crushed me last year!!

How did Florida(Ranked #6 at the time) shoot past #1 Ohio State who beat Wisconsin(Ranked #3?) and get the overall #1 seed?

I have yet to figure out how they figure this out..Florida had easier teams to beat in the conference tournament.. and yet they leapfrogged OSU..

That made absolutely no sense to me..at all.

The #2's were all right on. But the order of the #1 seeds were off. That east bracket looks like a killer!

Also how did Duke get a #6 seed? I thought they should have been a 9 or 10.

I don't know about a 9 or 10...Here's how I see it..KY got a 9 seed? or was it 8? Duke was at least a ranked team prior to conference tournament, right? I would think the ranked teams would be #1 - #6/7 seed...does that make any sense? All the teams that won their tournament would be #11-16(not real sure how they determine a #14 from a #16.. but then KY had a tough schedule..RPI was very low(top 5)

Shep and NewJersey ~ My husband and I are trying to figure out the whole Ohio thing too. We also dislike Duke, so were very unhappy with them being so high.

I think Ohio State has been getting a bad rap all season and I think many "experts" feel that they're #1 ranked basically by default because everyone else jept losing (which, obviously is how you become #1 -- don't lose )

Whereas Florida gets credit for A. being the defending champs and not having much of a different team from last year and b. coming from a conference that is held up in high regard (not completely sure why, since I'd put them maybe 4th best as far as conferences go this year). The Big Ten, just like in football, had a down year, relatively speaking where basically there were two strong teams (again, like in football this year) and a bunch of also-rans.

It really isn't a big deal, though -- whether or not they're the top #1 shouldn't matter. If they play their game, they should win through to the Final Four. If not, they'll lose just like any team that's off their game.

Why is Duke a 6 seed? Easy... Tons of respect in the selection committe for Coach K. That kind of stuff happens occasionally, and not always just benefitting Duke. But really whether they're a 6 seed or a 8 or 9 is just something to talk about until Thursday. Once they lace 'em up it won't really matter who's seeded where.
