Ok, I read about this on a different thread, and did it with a friend on a girls only trip, and it was fantastic! It would be great for an Anniviersary trip as well.
I thought it would be a hassle with the separate ressies and checking in twice, but it was SOOOOO worth it!
If you want to do lots of fancy dining and tours, you can pay for the platinum or premium dining plan to be added onto your hotel reservation. It is a dining plan, so must be added onto the entire stay and is about $180 (premium) or $230 (platinum) per person per night in addition to room and one day admission(sounds like A LOT, but keep reading to see how to make it worth the money). Book a separate reservation for ONE night, preferably NOT the first one you arrive or the day before you leave...you will see why in a minute.
Starting when you check in and ending @ midnight the day of checkout. You get to eat 3 meals(at ANY restaurant for 1 credit) plus 2 snacks and a refillable mug. Plus you get tours, such as the segway tour (11 tours are available, but not all of them) at Epcot. You get shows, such as LaNouba. You get recreation such as golf or private golf lessons, or parasailing. Horseback riding, fishing excursions, carriage rides. ALL included.
When we did it, I did the Animal Kingdom tour, Dinner @ Le Cellier, The Segway Tour @ Epcot, Parasailing, Lunch @ Contempo Cafe, Private golf lessons, Dinner at Yachtsman Steak House, then LaNouba. All from Noon one day to Midnight the next day.
Platinum plan has even more perks...LIKE the Richard Petty driving experience, and free spa service, fireworks cruise, photopass CD, and photosession, reserved fireworks seating.
Book your room only res, then in the middle book ONE night of the premium/platinum dining plan, then the rest of the stay on your room only res. Check out/in as early in the morning as you possibly can to activate your tours/etc (book them in advance) then do the same thing the next morning (don't forget your tours/meals are still good til midnight) and since you still have the same room, you won't have to pack/unpack...It works out great!
Most of the tours start early in the morning, so to take advantage of them, you have to get going early! And you want to get the most of your money, so you want to use your day (really it is 2 days if you work it right) to the best of your ability. Also...Dinners are more expensive, and you can eat ANYWHERE you want on only 1 credit, so plan accordingly...use your credits for sit down dinners and lunches, pay oop for breakfast and cs. Richard Petty fills up FAST so if you plan to do that, plan it way in advance!
After all that typing, I just figured out how to put in the web address
