Dis Mom's Club?

I rarely say this so this is exciting for me...I had a good day at work (well parts of it at least lets be honest it is still work and it can not always be perfect). Had a meeting with the upper management and the acted as though they cared about what I had to say about my job. :cool1: Which is a huge improvement over last week when I had a meeting on common sense...wait I mean safety. I am a social worker and do a lot of field work and they tried to tell me how to stay safe while going into the heart of the ghetto. As though anything they tell me will help the white lady dressed professionally pulling up in a Disney decorated minivan (yes I scream Social Worker). :rotfl2: Thanks for listening I just needed to get that off my chest.

Hope everyone is having a great week.

woohoo that's great that they listened.

Sorry, gang - I've given DISboards a second shot at it and yet again, the Mod Squad has let me down. Getting a warning over a thread that was perfectly legit and had a number of replies is beyond stupid, IMO.

With so many other issues, like the sheer amount of nastiness on the boards, for the mods to issue warnings on threads where a person is asking for real-world advice, shows a clear lack of common sense and understanding of what forum users want.

So like Suellen, I'm going to head for another, more user-friendly board but will lurk from time to time, if the mods don't boot me off altogether.

Hope everyone has a great time at WDW.

Awwww...hate to see you go. :sad1: Not sure what happened but hate that it did.

I clearly do not venture out to the other threads much. What is going on out there? We hate to see you go.

Hey Dis Moms, I've only posted in this thread a couple of times but I hope to post here a lot more!! You all seem super nice and I think nice people are fantastic! I've lurked the boards for a while before I actually joined but I have yet to notice too many mean, rude people. I've noticed a couple, but then again I don't read every post in every thread. **That teacher thread, however, is nuts!** I notice some of the moms on here whose posts I've enjoyed reading are leaving, so I'm just wondering...should I kind of stay away from certain threads and/or people? I only say this because I used to post frequently on a music message board and some people there were so pompous and ignorant and downright rude (someone called me a sell out because I got married and had a baby. Really?) that I ended up leaving...no one really personally did anything to me but I just think its silly for people to fight via the internet.

I came here because if there's anything I love (besides my family of course) its Disney and I was hoping people would be pretty civilized, after all I feel like that's what Walt embodied and hoped for in others. I haven't been to that AP thread, but I was hoping to find some comradery on here because no one understands my Disney love. Anyway, I'm sorry to see some of the posters go, its a shame that some people have to be jerks and build themselves up by putting others down (I know I sound like an after school special but its so true!:hippie:). Maybe I'll just hang here with you ladies. :cool1:

I have been (mostly) lurking for a couple of years now...and I really have not seen much change. Some threads are pretty brutal, but I have seen that on wedding and mom boards too! I love this tread because everyone has been super nice! I also love the theme nights thread, but at one point a poster called out the OP because she was posting too many ideas :confused3 I love my Kiddos, my husband and disney and I hate :laundy:so the Dismoms Club is my kind of place :grouphug:
Welcome MyMagicKingdom....we hope you stay awhile!!!

Thanks!!! Well, I'll be sure to only post 5 or 6 ideas and call it quits then! :lmao: I used to say I didn't mind doing :laundy: I just hated folding and DH said, "honey, then that's not doing laundry. That's throwing clothes into soapy water." When will someone invent an automatic folding machine?! I also really like doing dishes but I can't stand drying them, thank heavens for my drying rack!! :cool1:

Most of the threads are fine... The ones to watch out in are any dealing with parenting advice, misuse of tickets, and the peanut allergy threads! :lmao: Just know that there are some posters that have strong opinions and don't care who they hurt, just to get their point across.
Hope you stay around here for awhile, we're pretty nice! :cloud9:

I'll certainly keep this in mind!

Now onto a more exciting topic...DS fell asleep before he could pick up his toys. I'm sitting on the couch staring at it all and I know I should tidy up a bit but my butt can't seem to get off the couch. Do I leave it for tomorrow morning and go to bed with a clean living room? Or do I leave it for him in the morning (please say this one! :yay:)?

I have very strong opinions but I was given an "Edit button" and common sense as to when to use it. Maybe I should go hang out on the parenting advice threads, I do that for a living maybe that would get a few of them to keep their mouths shut. Wait, I think my edit button did not work there.:confused3

This is a tough choice. In my house I would clean it up (but I am extremely OCD) and I have two dogs that would see the toys as their toys if I were not yelling at them which I have not figured out how to do while laying in bed trying to sleep (I have a bit of insomnia). So, if you are not OCD and don't have dogs that will chew up the toys I say leave it, he should learn responsibility young.

To explain my OCD I decided to tackle my worst fears DS and DD rooms. :scared1: Not only did I have to empty the bookshelves and rearrange the books but I had to clean out her dresser, closet and all the storage bins in there rooms. I learned that my DD is a pack rat just like my DH (remember my DD is adopted so this is a learned trait:rotfl2:) but it is :scared1:to me as I believe in getting rid of it if it is not needed. I have not ventured into the playroom as I am sure that will give me a mild heart attack and I am trying to let them be kids in one room of the house.:rolleyes1

I think I'll end up leaving it for the morning. I just have some cats that like to bat things around a bit but do no harm other than that. Luckily DS1 enjoys cleaning and helping. He sings "Clean My Room" by the Imagination Movers every time! He gets super excited when I empty the dishwasher too, so we're definitely trying to instill chores and being helpful now so he doesn't give us too much grief once he's older.

I can sort of feel your pain with the OCD, however I'm more of the OCD in the sense that I have to check my alarm clock 12 times before I go to bed and I'm constantly washing my hands and washing DS's toys and I need every clock to be 6 minutes fast, etc. I'm somewhere in the middle of being a pat rack and more logical like you. I'm always going through things and I'll be just about to send it to goodwill or throw it out and then I think waaait a minute, what if I'll need this in 10 years. :lmao:

Yep that's me to a t too. Love the soapy water comment :rotfl2:

I would leave it, but then I tend to leave their toys until I can get them to clean them up, or I can't deal anymore. Usually they clean it up before I can't deal with it because I can just head to another room :toofunny:

Jumping on now. Hope I'm not too late in the intros.

Michel married to my DH 20 years
DD Brit 20
DD Katy 18
DGS 18m.

I love Disney. I love WDW as my all time fav. vacation place. I have been to Disneyland many times growing up in Ca. And quite a few times since. We have been to WDW 3x and DCL 2x. I am planning on returning to WDW in about 1 yr.

Hey Ladies!

Hope everyone had a great weekend. It went by way to fast and it was raining most of it. Wanting to make DD a tutu but couldn't find the tulle I wanted at Jo Anns yesterday so I need to check out hobby lobby and Michaels. But that can wait till tomorrow.

Today is DH Birthday and I am going to try and make Jack Skellington. We will see how well that goes. But I am kinda glad he ask for Jack instead of Animal from the muppets. That might have been to much to take on.

I'm not sure if you will agree with this or not but I had a friend blog that a "Good Mom" doesn't get stressed when her kids are acting up. To me that just seem wrong to say that. I know there are people, like my DH that can handle stress better then I can when it comes to our DD throwing fits all day. But to imply that I am a bad mom because I can't handle that is just wrong to me. When you have those days that things just aren't getting done and you have your kids throwing a fit for no reason at all it can get to you.

Sorry I just had to bite my tongue and not say anything to her like usual because it will start all kinds of drama that I don't need to be a part of. But that just really got to me because I know I get stressed out and sometimes I don't need to but it happens. I think the way we handle the stress is what makes us a "Good Mom" not that we don't get stress.

To imply that a "good mom" never gets stressed is insane. I would be concerned that she does not get stressed. I agree with you that it is how we handle stress that make us a "good mom." Like the day that my DS3 decided he was mad at me and urinated on my wall :mad:and I did not react to this and put him in bed after he finished and then cleaned it. As it turns out not reacting was the best thing I could do because he had no idea how mad it made me and he has not done it again however he still tries to put mustard on the dog when he gets mad (there was a small reaction to that one.:lmao:)

Oh, oh can I join in. :yay:
Hubby and I both became Disney Nuts when we went there for our honeymoon in 2008. It was a first for both of us. Thankfully, we are in Texas so an 11 hour drive and we are there. Since our honeymoon, we have made it a tradition to go once a year, and for each five year anniversary we will go without the kids. I have DD Kaeli 9 and DS Kaden 5 who are also in LOVE with everything Disney. Actually, right now Kaeli is trying to decide which Disney song she wants to sing for her school talent show. I can't wait.

Sorry, forgot to introduce myself. My name is Amy and hubby is Rick. We are in the Houston area, and I personally would love to find a BFF that loves Disney as much as myself. No one gets it, and they think I'm crazy. I even talked my friend and her family into going with us last year and she still didn't get what all of the hype is about. There is nothing in the world (other than my kids and hubby) that make me happier than the magic of Disney!!! I <3 Disney

Has been a very long week. DD5 cme home sick from day care on Wednesday and was later diagnosed with Strepe Throat and Mono. Had to have a conversation about who was kissing my daughter only to learn that it is an airborne virus. Also learned that she is not allowed any contact sport or rough play for up to 6 months. This pretty much limits the amount of play my kids can do together. She also loves to wrestle with the dogs and her dad.

Thursday my DS3 spiked a high fever and was treated for Strepe Throat. Also learned the Strepe Throat can case vomiting. This would have been useful information about 4:30 Friday morning when I was cleaning him and my room up. Oh, well I got to take the morning off.:thumbsup2

Today was the first day of swim lessons for them at the new pool. DD did fantastic. DS not so much. He would not leave my side. I did not come prepared to get in the pool so I ended up soaked. :confused3

Hope everyone had a better week than me and your weekend started off better than mine. Tomorrow is a trip to the in-laws so don't think my weekend is going to improve. :sad2:
