Dis Mom's Club?

Hi Ladies!

We just got back from our first family camping trip... well, it was the 4 of us, the DSKs are still with their mom. It was a learning experience, so say the least. We discovered that DD13 is terrified of bugs, and her paranoia passed on to DS3, so it was interesting. We went to just a local state park, and it was clean for the most part. The bathrooms left something to be desired, especially at night. But we survived for 3 nights and will be going again in July with ALL the kids...

Congrats on the first camping trip. I think all bathrooms at campgrounds leave something to be desired. :sad2: Good luck on the BIG camping trip in July.

Hi Everyone! I'm new here and was wanting to join in the mom talk :)

Im Jerri, a 30 year old mom, married to DH James who isnt much of a Disney person at all but he tolerates because of me and we have DD Julia who is 29 months. She will be going on her first trip to the World October 2011 for 9 days. I am a former CP and CM so WDW has had a very special place in my heart since I moved into Chatham Square Jan 18, 2003.

I now work in EMS and as a E-911 Telecommunicator. The DH is a Police Officer and DD, well she is our Princess and will quickly tell anyone lol!:rotfl:

6th dance recital completed. This is the first year we did two shows. The girls were great. Oldest DD did three performances in 1st show w/ two costumes & youngest DD had two performances w/ two costume. Oldest DD was the teacher assistant for the 3 year olds in 2nd show. We got there at 11:45 & left at 6p.m. I worked backstage & didn't sit down until I got in the van to leave. Good times.

Congrats to you and your girls!!! What a long and crazy day that had to have been.

Well today is the day... We can start looking for new orders (US Navy)! :cool1: We love MD, but we are really hoping to get FL. Jacksonville or Mayport. DH can look for the next 3 months and try to choose his own orders, but once it hits Sept. the Navy will push him in the direction of 1-2 choices. Which we know one will be New Orleans, as we've been scoping out orders since March and there is always 3-5 different orders to New Orleans. If by magical decree Jacksonville or Mayport are there today, then we'd be moving there in Feb/March! So we could possibly be FL residents when we do the Princess Half... :cheer2: I will say that the whole family will be devastated if we don't get FL, but we've been researching New Orleans, just incase.

I hope you get Florida but at least New Orleans is in the south where it stays warm. I can't handle the cold. We have quite a few Hurrican Katrina Refugees in the town I live in. Great people! One of the couples owned a bar & decided to stay rather than going back. Their bar was completely destroyed. They received an insurance settlement. The other two couples didn't want to go back because the fear of something happending again. We have some flood zones (local creeks & the Ohio River) but they all made sure they moved to a non flood zone and something w/ a basement bc we have tornado threats & an occassional tornado. One of the couples taught our youngest child's religious ed class & another one will teach my oldest next year. Good people.

Has anyone done the family resort photo session offered by Disney? It is really worth it? I was going to do it, since at $99 it didn't seem like such a bad deal... But now it is $150 for only 20 minutes!!! :scared1: There are 6 of us, we'd get 1 shot done in just 20 minutes. They also offer a "Enhanced" session for $350 for an 1 hr and all you get is a photo book, no prints or cd, those are extra. They do offer a 20% discount for DVC members on the $350 session, so it would be $280 plus the $50 for the cd... This just doesn't seem worth it to me. I found someone online that would do them at one of the resorts for $262 for an hour and half, prints and cd included... :confused3 I'm really considering this, but still that is alot of $$ for family pics. We could have them done at Sears or Walmart, but those are so "stiff" for my crazy family. We haven't had pics done since 2008 and those are the ONLY family photos we have.

Oh I just don't know! :confused3

I haven't done it, but after seeing some other people's examples of what they got.....I don't think it's worth it. There are a few really great photographers from what I understand but on another thread people were saying you're not allowed to request a certain photog. Is there anything else, like a Portrait Innovations, near you? It's hit or miss sometimes but you can atleast get a more casual fun picture from some studios. Just a thought...

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll have to check to see if we have a Portrait Innovations.

Well, there were no orders to FL last night, so now we wait till next month... :sad1: There was still orders to New Orleans, LOL, so we could still go there.:upsidedow

We have not do it. We only use the photopass and have gotten great family shots from them.

For that price you should check with a local photographer. We were able to find a local photographer that took us to several locations in our area and then we got the CD. After that session we bought a nice camera and started doing the pictures ourselves.

We have also done Picture People and I love them. I have always walked away spending more than I intended. :rolleyes1

My little princess: graduates from Kindergarten today. I hardly made it through her Preschool graduation. She has been singing her songs for graduation for the last two weeks and that has made me cry. :sad1: She is growing so fast.

And the kicker is that my baby will graduate from Preschool next year.

Awww, I can not even imagine how hard that is! My little boy is 3 & I'm already (dreadfully) realizing that he'll be going to big-boy school in just a couple of years. I wish you the best for today. I'm sure your tears will be bittersweet for her graduation - it's good to see them grow & learn like they should be but oh so hard to realize they're not as little as they once were.

BTW, I've been reading y'alls latest TR & it's really good. The kids are both adorable!

Awwww! Our little town I live in doesn't do kindergarten graduation and I really wish they had! I would have loved to have a kindergarten cap and gown picture so I could do a collage when they graduate High School! They do grow so fast but it's exciting to see them grow into their own person and personality! :)

Sending hugs your way ! My baby will be in Preschool next year and I started crying when we went the elementary school to register him. :sad2: But Congrats to your Princess! party:

My ds13 still has his stuffed kindergarten graduation puppy. They do grow so fast! I remember when we used to sing Raffi songs, now all he wants to hear is Lady Gaga :music:

Ok, on the mom front, I have decided I can no longer continue to keep falling behind in my house and life, so I'm going back to the FlyLady way. I used to be quite devoted, but I let just about everything fall off. I know I will feel more in control once I start having more of a routine again. I have to stop getting into my pajamas minutes after I get home! Maybe I should buy something cute to change into that's my "home work" attire -- maybe then I'd be more likely to do it!
