Hey y'all! My name is Melissa and I'm from Augusta, GA (we're known worldwide for our big, fancy golf course). I just turned 30and I'm dangerously close to finishing my early childhood education degree!
Here's a little introduction to my family:
My husband, Chris, is a former car guy turned golf guy. Before we had kids we built and raced drag cars (by 'we' I mean, he told me to hold stuff or pump a pedal while he did all the real work) When the kids came, there just wasn't enough time or money for cars. So he did what all respectable men do in Augusta, he started playing golf. This works out good for me because WDW has some really nice golf courses
After two trips, I have officially converted him to a Disney fanatic.
I have two boys, Camden (4) and Carter (18 mos). Camden is one of those kids who seems much older than he is. He prefers to talk to adults, rather than other kids. He loves Disney as much as I do and we have found him to be quite adventurous with rides. He also has the makings of a young foodie.
Carter, on the other hand, has a wicked good sense of humor and loves to make people laugh. I have a feeling he is going to be very opinionated, because he is very particular about things already.
Well, as you can see, I like to talk a little more than I should! I love this idea of the DIS Mom's Club. I have been trying to talk my husband into joining the dads club but he thinks thats just weird. I bet if they talked about golf and cars, he'd be on it in a second!

As a DW to a DisDad I would STRONGLY recommend that you not introduce your DH to this. You will lose him in some strange world that is their own. My DH starts talking in a strange language and after I question him he mumbles something about DisDads. Although, they seem like a bunch of really nice guys.
I guess I should inform my DH that we will be going to WDW Feb 24-26, 2012. Maybe he can join the other Dads in the beer and pretzel relay. Is it ok that he's not an official DisDad. He's just very supportive of my Disney addiction.![]()
E3yore's husband, my husband, & two other Disdad's have decided to be supportive of the Dismom's doing the Princess 1/2 Marathon. They plan to do a Beer & Pretzel Relay Run in support of us while waiting for the Dismom's to cross the finish line. I'm so grateful of the Disdad's sacrafices & support.![]()
I like that I had to see this here to learn this info.
I am still not convinced that the half will be able to be achieved by me in Feb. I am on week 2 of the couch to 5k and I spend the rest of the night on the couch with ice packs on my shins. If anyone has a really good idea to help with shin splints I would be grateful.

Try an ice massage. Fill a paper cup with water and freeze it. Tear down the cup to rub the ice up and down your shins. Before and after you run stretch, stretch, stretch. Stand on the curb or a step and point your toes down and push the front of your foot against the step. Also make sure you have good running shoes. Your foot might be over pronating (your instep rolls in too much). If that's what's happening you might need a more supportive shoe. Try going to a running strore where the people really know about feet and running. Let them know where it hurts and bring your old shoes. They should be able to recommend a shoe that's best for your foot. Not all brands are the same. I've found the people at the big chains like Sports Authority have no clue about this kind of stuff. I just got new shoes and my shin splints are gone. I still make sure I stretch good. I used to wear orthotics just to walk around in, but the new shoes I got are so good I don't need the orthotics. Also rest is key. Worst case senario if you are still having pain, get checked by a doctor, you could develop stress fractures. Also try taking some Motrin or Advil, both are anti-inflamatories. Shin splints are the bone swelling where the muscle attatches when the muscles start getting used in a new way. Hope that helps. I'm doing C25k too and I'm on week 2 also. Hang in there!
