DIS-functional Wonder Peeps Part III revisited

Sean & Linda, are you still out there??

Crazy weather out your way....no freezing allowed sez I.

Annie: We watched AI last night....the 2 I liked the best so far: the punk rocker lookin' chick from the band and the sweet lil' 16 yr old girl who started the adopt a "Grand friend" program. Oh! the blind guy was pretty good too :goodvibes

What about your favs...any??

I had lunch with Gert and leetle pirate today :thumbsup2

It's so funny, people just think she is mine cuz of the red hair....some nice older lady asked me how old she was and then told me about her grandkids :confused3 um, ok. :rotfl2:

Mornin peeps!

Got our first 1/2" of snow here over night (I know...that's NUTHIN' Katie) but it made for some slick roads. Some counties started out with 2 hour delays for schools and then ended up closing instead. Our county schools opened on time but DS's bus was almost 20 min. late. It is bitter out there with the wind...the bus stops right out front but the kids were freezing (it was 17 out there) so I opened up the garage for them to wait in to get out of the wind. One of the dummies made a snow angel in our driveway.:sad2: His whole backside was covered in snow. Brrrr! The next 2 nights are supposed to be even COLDER... Betsy - hear ya'll are gettin' some chill in FL too! Sorry 'bout that! I am just grateful that we don't live in like Chicago or North Dakota where it is like 47 below!!

RJ - hope ya told Gert hi for all of us peeps that are deprived of contact with everyone else! Bet Leetle Pirate is gettin' beeg!!

Got my doctor appt. today at 1:30 for my arm...I just hope they can give me something for some relief. I tried to use the vacuum cleaner for about 5 min. last nite & I thought I was gonna DIE! I had to have DH help me get undressed for bed 'cuz I couldn't move my arm. It's a real problem now. I can't even pick up a gal. of milk or the Tide bottle.:rolleyes1 Hummm....no laundry or cleaning.....why am I complaining again?!:rotfl:

AI favs so far...hummm...agree from the first nite that the Rocker chick was good...blind guy good...young thang with the "grand friend" program good...bikini girl will make for some interesting moments. Last nite...Jason Castro's brother was OK...not the best, but OK. I really liked the guy who's wife died a month before. The girl who lives with her 90 yr old grandmother was good...anxious to see her get a makeover... There was somebody else I liked too but I am having a brain fart and can't place them.:confused3

Kate's safety patrol is headed to DC today for their trip. I am really glad we decided not to send Kate..not only do they only get Friday, Saturday and a few hours on Sunday (for $800!!) but with the weather, those poor Florida kids have no cold weather clothes!!!

Plus..with the innuguration!! Holy Moley!! That town is probably PACKED!!

 Oh No! Those kids MUST have winter coats, hats, gloves and boots!! It is seriously frostbite weather out there the next 2 days! I think they said like 5-10 min. is all it takes or something. I will probably break down and turn on my space heater here in the study at some point. I am still sitting here with thermal underwear, fleece and a down vest & boots every day (I have the thermostat set on 61 so it's ON, but it's chilly, esp. when it's THIS cold out).

And YES, the city is going to be packed starting this weekend. They even cancelled school here on Tues because of the traffic etc. NEXT week will be the worst of it...they have upped the portable toilets from 4,000 to 5,000!! But the street closures etc. are going to be so restrictive our friend who owns a port-a-john business declined taking his johns down there except for his fancy trailers for the VIP's. They only wanted to pay like $45 ea. or something and they want them "serviced" twice a day! Well, with the street closures he was like UUUUHHHH....are you NUTS? He was afraid he wouldn't be able to get his pumper trucks thru to GET to them and he said $45 ea. wasn't enough money to be worth the hassle. He can only transport 2 at a time per truck to GET THEM there unless he'd rent a large flatbed trailer. He has 300 units but talk about a time consuming job. He was "over" being involved in that part. Now, he gets GOOD money out of his trailers so that's different. They ARE nice. They are like "real" bathrooms and are heated etc. He can provide an attendant etc. THAT's a smart $ move for him...but the rest is gonna be a mess. I have no interest in being anywhere on Tues. but in front of my TV!!

Hi guys,
Just popping in to let you all know Im alive. Work has been crazy so I havent had a lot of time to come here. But I miss you all! And Im freakin freezing!

I'm afraid to ask, but ....

what's the temps like Katie???? :scared:

Right now on the news I have on its 5:11 and 17 degrees. They are saying 0 overnight and with the windchill, by tomorrow morning it will feel like -20 (yes thats MINUS 20). They are saying the last time we got down to 0 for actual temperature was 2005.

:scared1:

The coldest I personally have been in was -21 (that included windchill though)

Michigan in the dead of winter.....brrrrrr (cold but fun though)

Be careful and try to stay warm :goodvibes

Annie,Sean & Linda, SE: are you all experiencing crazy cold temps as well?

annie - it is 69 right now in my kitchen!! I have jeans, socks, long thermal shirt and I am freezing!!

VERY cold here too...Katie & Sean/Linda have it even worse tho! I just got home a little while ago from my doc appt (etc) and the temp read 18 in my truck on my way home. My back porch thermometer is reading 19.6 (but the transmitter is pretty close to the house so I'm sure it's warmer there by a couple degrees). We are supposed to get down into "single digits" over night + wind. Not calling for ZERO but pretty darn close!! We have a "wind chill advisory". Supposed to "feel like" -15 in the morning! Est. HIGH tomorrow is about 19 in the city (cooler here in the burbs). I will be closing all the blinds tonight and leaving the cabinet doors open on our outside walls so the pipes don't freeze over night.

Watching the coverage of that US Airways Plane that went down in the Hudson River...AMAZING everybody got off alive!

So the Doc thinks that I have "Lateral Epicondylislis" (sp?) which is a form of Tendonitis. She started going thru all the treatments I have already been doing (ice packs, Advil or Aleve, resting it blah, blah). I told her I am not getting any real relief from these OTC meds and that I am taking TOO many of them. Turns out I had not been in to the doctors office since 2003!! It had been so long that my file had been sent to offsite archives!!:rotfl: I decided I had to get insistent about it and I told her I don't go to the doc unless it's BAD. If I can't lift the jug of milk or the Tide or even raise a glass to drink then I need something else / stronger. I have already been doing all of these basic treatments. So she gave me an RX for an anti-inflammatory called Mobic. I've never heard of it so I'll have to look it up. It's a 24 hr. med tho so I'm excited about THAT! She said it should help with both my arthritis and the tendonitis. She also said I should see an Orthopedic doc. for further help with the tendonitis if it continues and gave me a name. Gotta look them up to see if they're on our insurance. For my back and tailbone pain she wasn't sure...she took a guess at something and gave me a script to go get X-rays. So I stopped at a radiology place on the way home too and got that done before I dropped off my RX. I know X-rays are always done first and often don't tell much. So I guess we'll see if I need anything further (like an MRI) after they read the X-rays. Right now I am just excited for tomorrow morning so I can try this new med!!

 My heat goes up to 67 or 68 in the evenings when DS and DH come home! I LOVE it when they come home!:rotfl:

Mobic is very good anti inflammatory!! Be only taking it at night and only in your jammies!!

:confused3 I asked the doc when to take it (am or pm) and she said in the morning with breakfast! why do you say at night in my jammies?? :confused3 (and what if i don't wear jammies?? LOL)

well that is why you are so cold!!

My Dr also told me to take it during the day..but when I couldn't hold my head up at work, I asked the pharmacist and he said "it relaxes ALL the muscles"

:rotfl2:

guess I'll play it by ear...

Can I have some of that?

Wasnt that plane crash amazing? Holy Cow! The video of the people out on the wing in the water just blew my mind. I would not have survived it because if a a pilot every says to me brace yourself, I'm just going to drop dead of a heart attack right there.:scared:
Then again in a real crisis I may do better than I think. On our flight last month, when we "misexecuted the landing" and we got that gunning the engine feeling when we were almost down and went back up, I was pretty calm, even though I knew something was wrong. At the luggage carousel we were talking to people on the flight who we know from home and the woman said she was crying. So seeing I did better than her, makes me wonder how I woudl really do...but I do NOT want to find out.

I'm with you RJ: we liked tat-chick and the charity-girl. I don't think Jason's bro is going to very far. It should be very interesting when they do the first cut. And, bikini girl, aka skank broad, that was just too over the top.

What is with those crazy temperatures? 19? 15? (ad Bets is freezing at 69 - what a baby). Should I tell you it was 75 here today? I won't tell you if it will make you sad.:)

it is 66 in my bedroom right now..I have a quilt, a flannel sheet and a heated mattress pad...i may not move for days

Wimp...yes!! Ya'll are wimps!!

This was my thermometer at 6:20 am this morning. It is on my back step just a few inches from the house near the back door. The top reading is outside and the bottom reading was my kitchen temp! :scared: My next door neighbor said her temp read only 1.5!! She has hers out front in her shrub bed. That shows ya how much heat escapes the house thru the back door!! I can actually watch mine change temps according to if my furnace is running or not!!! There's a floor vent inside in the kitchen floor almost opposite of where this remote is. I watched it this morning go up to 10.2 when the furnace was running and then watched as it dropped back down to about 9.8 when the furnace shut off!!!

It is supposed to get even COLDER tonight...but I will prob. miss it 'cuz I will sleep in an hour or so!
