DIS-functional Wonder Peeps Part III revisited

it is 66 in my bedroom right now..I have a quilt, a flannel sheet and a heated mattress pad...i may not move for days

:rotfl2: See, with that I would just put the heat on to get the chill off.
I had a heart attack this morning. I lower the heat when I get up and exercise. So when I finish my first round and go up for breakfast and to get the kids ready I put the heat up. So I put it up to 66(it was 63 in the house) and it didnt kick on. :scared: NOT today! So, I checked the first obvious thing, hoping DH bumped into the switch on the furnace on his way out, and he did. :thumbsup2 He had the trash so he must have knocked it. Thank God it was an easy fix. I dont think the space heaters woudl heat the whole house today.

you all quit calling me a whimp!! I am a FLORIDIAN!! We don't like cold!!!

I have my nifty scarf on again today!

Quick save before bed...we're almost down to page 3!!:sad2:

Well, DH and I decided on our vacation plan tonight (over goat). Since it now appears that nobody is going with us this summer...I wrote up several scenarios on how we could maximize our points. I am calling tomorrow to see if we can get a studio at BCV for Aug 16-23. Then on the 23rd I am going to call and see if I can get 3 n in an Ocean View Inn Room at Vero Beach so we can have a 10 day trip. (Do we think 3 n at Vero is enough after 7 n at WDW??) Then later, provided nothing else comes up between now & then I think we're going to try to go for about 5 n (Sun-Thur) NEXT year over spring break. It was a toss up between that or a few days over the holidays...but we decided that we might still feel like we're in the poor house to try to go right at Christmas. I really want to see the decorations one day. But we'll just have to save that for another year. This way, if we stick to this plan we don't book until 11 months at best at SSR at the end of April. That gives us time to be sure that we want to stick to the plan and it's before our banking deadline. THEN we will bank whatever's left and for 2010 we'll have enough points to try to do 6 n in one of the new THV's for the summer. Hope to try to plan again with family...specifically hoping BIL & new SIL since he'll be back from Iraq and re-assigned somewhere...but we'll have at least until like about Sept. before we need to think about it again. I was impressed that with the proper planning (and with some booking luck) we can stretch our measley 250 points into 3 trips (yay for the AP usage) and get 21 days out of them. IF we do it right. Now, who wants to bet on how many times these plans change before they actually get MADE?!:rotfl2:

I am still feeling bad about my parents not going anywhere tho for their anniv. Now I wish I'd gotten them a gift certificate to the WV State Parks for Xmas. They could at least make a ressie to go camping. I know their fav. park books up in Jan. for the entire year.:sad2:

Alright...gettin' late...TTYL

:lmao: :rotfl2: Phyllis said "skank broad":rotfl2: :lmao:

psst...Annie...It's still January! Try to get them that gift certificate. Or book it for them.

And I agree with RJ! Too cold peeps!! Move west says I. Move west.:beach:

Hi all,

Yes RJ we are still here, alive but freezing up here in NY. Well lets just say our 2009 has gotten off to a horrible start, let see where should I begin. It started with getting really sick and being in the hospital again with severe abdominal pains from what we thought was here Crohn's, but after a follow-up with the doctor and another colonoscopy, the thinks it might be Crohn's of the appendix, so he took some biopsies and we are waiting the results. The about three days after Linda got out of the hospital, my parents had to rush my grandmother to the hospital, and come to find out she had double pneumonia and was admitted and we thought that she might not make it, now my grandmother is 89 years old and has the energy of a 21 year old, she helps clean, does the laundry and cooks the dinners here, so when she got sick we thought she had just caught a virus that Sean Patrick had on Christmas Day, but it got worse as time went on, so me, Linda and my parents have been taking turns staying with her at the hospital, so there was never a minute when she was alone, Thank God she has a private room or we would not be able to stay with her overnight. Then to top it all off I was laid off yesterday from my job. I am at my wits end with stress and depression, I am trying my best to deal with as best I can. The only good news is that my grandmother has made excellent progress and will be coming home on Saturday.

SueEllen: How is Steve doing?

RJ: How is my main man Ben doing.

Tyler wanted me to say hello to everyone, and misses all his friends he made on the cruise, and wants to know when we are all going again.

Well we hope everyone is doing well and we miss everyone a lot and hope to see everyone soon....

:grouphug: to keep everyone warm, although I can't do a lot of complaining from here (maybe DMBNut can).

S&L,
Sorry to hear about the job thing and the family health situation. More prayers and pixie dust heading your way man.

T&O

Sean & Linda:

prayers and pixie dust for you and your whole family :grouphug:

Morning peeps. :grouphug: Extra hugs for T & P today! So sorry to hear about your run of bad luck so far this year. I certainly can relate to the layoff dilema as I am working on almost 1 year myself! I hope Linda's test results turn out as best as can be hoped for! Do keep us posted!:grouphug: and pixiedust:

Well, I just got off the phone with DVC Member Services. Tried to get a studio at Beach Club Villas for Aug 16-23 but the 18th wasn't available... So I booked a Preferred View Gdn. or Pool view studio at Boardwalk Villas (all other views were gone) and waitlisted for BCV. I KNEW I should've called yesterday when our window opened. Oh well. BWV was a toss up for our 2nd choice anyway so it's fine. We have never been to either resort OR to the Boardwalk. I just thought DS would enjoy Stormalong Bay at BCV. I also had her check to see how the availability looks at Vero for an Ocean View Inn Room for the end of this trip. I can't book it until the 23rd but she could see that there WERE rooms available for the 17th thru the 24th anyway. I really want this type of room as 1st, it guarantees the view and 2nd it gives DS a real bed rather than a pullout. He claims to feel ripped off to always have to have a pullout sofa bed in the studios and is always trying to steal our bed and make US sleep on the sofabed.:rotfl: We're like "it doesn't WORK that way buddy!":rotfl2: Kids!

You know that you have friends that have points at VB right? Have you ever thought to do a points transfer to get the 11month booking window? Although at VB I am sure that you won't have a problem.

Oh Sean! I am so sorry for all you guys are going through. 2009 has got to get better for you. (((hugs))) to you all! Hang in there!

Thanks TZM! I don't really know how point transfers work...do you exchange / trade points or something? I am hopeful that this OVIR will still be there for the 23-25 when I call back next Friday. Since she could see it was there for the 23-24 already. I don't know how many of these units they HAVE. They also have Garden View Inn rooms that are a few points less. That would be OK too, although the OV would be the cherry on top. We just thought for 36 points it would be a nice way to relax at the end of the week and I have heard such nice things about Vero...I want to try it out!! It will be a test to see if we want to plan for a week there sometime. DS will be tickled if he can have a bed and he won't care about the view!;) Heck, he won't even care about the OCEAN.:lmao:

I have to agree with you about the OVI room. Its worth the points. If there is one available they will book it for you. We are allowed one transfer per year for as many points as you have available. We did one for our wedding reservations at Vero. We rented 250 points from someone and had them transferred so that we could make our own reservations.

Is the OVI the room we stayed in for the G's wedding?? In the main building? That was an AWESOME room!! Had a perfect view!!

We took Kate to Wannado City today..then had lunch at Bahama Breeze..love me some West Indies Patties!!

I am also excited I got a thermal nightgown for $4.99 at target today! I usually sleep in tank tops, but my arms are cold these last few days!! Brrrr

oh S&L..I am thinking about you!! I saw your post this morning! I hope things get better QUICK!!

I have heard that Vero is a really good place to just chill for a few days...and that these OVI rooms are great. They have 2 queen beds whereas a studio has 1 queen and a pullout sofa. (Most of the DVC studios have the pullouts.)

:rotfl2: $4.99! What a deal! We are having a heat wave now! It got up to 24 this afternoon! What a warm up considering it was 6 degrees this morning at 7:30 when I got up!

I think that it is going to warm up a bit (40's) by the end of the week. Just in time for our ski weekend! Time to start watching the extended forecast!

WELL...good old freezing cold weather...DH just got a call about 9:20 from their Security guy...apparently a sprinkler system pipe burst in their Springfield, VA location and now there's water everywhere so he had go over there to check out his IT systems. It's at least a 45 min. drive w/o any traffic. 9:30 at nite. He said he had no gas so he was gonna have to stop for that (brrrrrrrrrr). NOT a fun time for a fill-up!!

IgotanewtickerIgotanewtickerI'msoexcited (insert singing smiley guy here)!:)

Where is yournewticker, Annie? I don't see it. I hope everything went ok to DH too.

Well, its warmed up some here. We are in the 20s I think. but guess what???? Yep, its snowing! Looks like 4-7 inches for today and some more over night. Yippee!

I need :beach:

You don't see my new ticker? I see my new ticker! It's BLUE....;)

DH got home around 2:00 am. Says his IT stuff was OK but lots of other stuff got wet. It's a mess.

Just got home from swimming...supposed to go to neighbors for playoff games at 4:00 (the port-a-john guy) so gonna go throw some meatballs in the crockpot with some sauce stuff real quick 'cuz supposed to go meet the other ski house Mom's at 2:00 at Applebees to plan our menus & who's bringin' what for next weekend...meanwhile, it's all the same Moms who are going to the football playoff party...dunno why we just didn't do it there...BUT we're meeting at 2:00 then partying at 4:00!:cool1:
