DIS-functional Wonder Peeps Part III revisited

Mornin' peeps! That WAS a cute pic, RJ!!:goodvibes

Well, DS seems to be OK with the retainer. No swelling over night. So...humm...only thing I can figure is that the original braces were made of nickel and this thing might be a stainless steel or something different?!:confused3 Anyway, I will definitely keep a close eye on him tho...

Got a pot roast in the crockpot with some baby carrots today...they were on sale for $2.99 a LB so I splurged for some meat! LOL...

Welcome home RJ!! How was your trip?! Cool pics ya got there! I'm sure the 3 of you were quite a sight together!! DL will never be the same again!:goodvibes
OK, let me just say that I was only there for TWO hours. Two hours. So, any lasting damage is not my fault - you know how rowdy RJ and TRM can get :dance3:

Sean, heep beeg hugs for Linda

Annie, this whole "lunch at 10:30" thing has got to be awful for the kids. And, as for renting rooms... only you know your comfort level for having strangers in your home. You could get $500 per night? How much will they actually be in your house? I don't know that I could do it (I didn't even let my relatives stay with me for my cousin's wedding - me likes privacy). Please to be telling of your decision.

:grouphug:

oh..but she wants me to come there?? Where would I stay?? La Costa??!!!??:cool1:
My peeps are different! These were cousins I haven't talked to in 10 years so they are virtual strangers. My mom already gave me a ration of s&)t for it. I've been properly spanked.

And you aren't staying at La Costa. Sheesh! I think rooms there are $500 a night or something WITH the member discount. If you ask nicely, maybe RJ will let you stay in the RJ/Beano suite.

Oh man wait a second!! We have to get permission from RJ and Beano!?

That ain't right.

Wait a sec....that means RJ and Beano might want to come too!:woohoo: Peeps party at Phyllis'!!

:party::dance3:

Hey ya'll....

The renting a room for inaguration idea...well, I am only guessing, based on the news reports that we MIGHT be able to get about $500 for 3 nights. Now that everything else has been snapped up. Not $500 / night. People downtown are renting out their row houses for between $5,000-$7,500 for a week. Most of the hotels are already booked solid and most of them required a weeks reservation. So...I don't know. We are about 9 miles from the closest metro station which would be the best mode of transportation down there for such an event - esp. for someone who doesn't know their way around. The train ride down is about 45-50 minutes, so we're easily an hour from Pennsylvania Ave.

I also am not fond of having overnight visitors to a degree (depends who it is). I was just thinking it might be a way to make a few bucks. DH said he's OK with it if I'm still home and not working so that they wouldn't be here ALONE. THAT is the big variable. I was like well, you can't take someone's money and say "OH BTW if the wife finds a job the deal's off!!" So I guess it's something we'll keep as a "maybe" kind of plan. Wait for January & see if I've found work & see how we feel about it then. I mean, I'm still looking, there's just not much to look for. I'm sure come January if we wanted to pursue it there would still be people looking for a place.

So Phyllis - how much does the Beano & RJ suite rent for?

Ole and Sven were fishing when Sven pulled out a cigar. Finding he had no matches, he asked Ole for a light.

'Ya, shure, I tink I haff a lighter,' Ole replied, and then reaching into his tackle box, he pulled out a Bic lighter 10 inches long.

'Yiminy Cricket!' exclaimed Sven, taking the huge Bic Lighter in his hands. 'Vere dit yew git dat monster??'

'Vell,' replied Ole, 'I got it from my Genie.'

'You haff a Genie?' Sven asked.

'Ya, shure. It's right here in my tackle box,' says Ole.

'Could I see him?'

Ole opens his tackle box & sure enough, out pops the Genie.

Addressing the genie, Sven says, 'Hey dere! I'm a good friend of your master. Vill you grant me vun vish?'

'Yes, I will,' says the Genie.

So Sven asks the Genie for a million bucks.

The Genie disappears back into the tackle box leaving Sven sitting there waiting for his million bucks.

Shortly, the sky darkens and is filled with the sound of a million ducks .... flying directly overhead.

Over the roar of the million ducks Sven yells at Ole, 'Yumpin' Yimminy, I asked for a million bucks, not a million ducks!'

Ole answers, 'Ya, I forgot to tell yew dat da Genie is hart of hearing. Do yew really tink I asked for a 10-inch Bic?' :rolleyes1

Hey everyone. I just wanted to say thank you for all of your well wishes during this time. You guys are truly great friends. I can't wait to see all of you again :grouphug: :grouphug:

Been very busy here lately. Work has been crazy, and I'm not even part of the big 7 for 4 deal.

I gotta agree with Phyllis...I couldnt have anyone, living in my house, especially strangers. But glad the retainer is Ok Annie. :thumbsup2

Happy Thursday

Mornin' peeps! Rainy day here. I hate the darkness that comes with that. You know, I sit here with no heat and in the dark all day w/o lights on (I am still pretending I'm not home so I don't run up the utilities). It's so dreay not even just opening the blinds would do it today - I had to pull the blinds all the way up so I can see the keyboard. I feel naked with the blinds al the way up.:rolleyes1

Sean - how's Linda? Is she still in the hospital? Are they changing her meds? What's the update?

CamColt - busy is a GOOD THING in this economy tho!! Right??

DS and I get haircuts this afternoon...we usually go every 6 weeks - so I was just looking at the calendar...our next 6 weeks would be ON Christmas!!:scared1: I guess we will push 7 weeks for our next haircuts. YIKES! I am :scared1: that it is that close. It is not going to be such a jolly time around here this year. DS even said maybe we should skip getting a tree. I told him we could get a tree if we can find a cheap one again from that scout troop - we just won't have anything to put under it!:rotfl2: He was actually just remembering that we had lost so many ornaments when last years tree fell down - I certainly don't want to get such a big one this year tho!! That cleanup was a nightmare! I am debating about not putting up all the lights this year either - just more electric to run up the bill. Maybe I'll just do the candles in the front windows for a couple of weeks. I have worked so hard at trying to cut the elec. bill down. They say things use elec. even when they're not on so I run around unplugging chargers & the toaster & unused lights etc. We HAVE cut the elec. bill by almost $30 / month!!:woohoo: But I have to keep on it all the time.

Hello from Casualty Central. We spent hours yesterday at the doc's and x-ray center trying to determine is Bab's arm is broken. the little monkey tried to do an aeriel cartwheel and ... well, she didn't exactly miss because her elbow hit the ground. So this morning we are waiting for Children's Hospital's appt line to open to get an appt with an orthopaedist. Or, we are driving an hour north to let Grandpa look her over (he's a ortho doc).

THEN- Dougie wakes up this morning and can't really walk. He got a bad scrap on the astroturf last Thurs and althouh it looks like it's healing, the pain is getting worse and worse. So, back to the pediatrician we go.

Isn't there a law or somethin' about both kids gettin' hurt at the same time? There must be! It's 5 o'clock in Italy... :rotfl2:

Annie, hatin' the rain, huh? We had rain all day Sunday. It was amazing! Wet stuff falling from the sky. (hey, it happens so rarely we get excited about these things). Now today we are going back up to 75-80. Doesn't G-d know it's mid-November? :dance3:

why are you letting those babies get hurt?? Someone whould run and rescue them!!

I know!! I will send Kate! She is a great nurse!!

WOOHOO!

"Betsy, you just pawned off your only child, what are you going to do now??"

"I'm going to DISNEY WORLD!!"

Oh No Phyllis! Is Babs a lefty or a righty? Which one did she break? Keep us posted! I hope she will be OK and that she doesn't need any surgery or anything! DS broke his right forearm when he was 4 (fell of the monkey bars)! It was a really bad break and stopped just shy of breaking thru the skin - but they somehow got it set without surgery - it is AMAZING what they can do now! I got to keep his Xray somehow with his arm in that little 'Z' shape...it is sad to see them get hurt so bad.... NOW...let's hope Dougie can heal with a little Neosporin or something!:thumbsup2 I hope they're both OK!

Oh No, Cheri! I hope everyone is ok.

Are you really going to WDW, Bets?

I booked my pre night stay for the cruise at the YC today, so I was messing around with my tickers. I made em fancy. ;)

Pretty fancy there Katie! I have red X's all over my siggie - I guess the site where the Tag Fairy hosts those cute little animal logos is down or something.:confused3 Maybe it will be back up tomorrow.

Well, BIL called this evening...he and the GF have set the date for their wedding....NOVEMBER 29!! 2:00 in Kansas City, MO. :headache: I do not know what to do. That is T-giving weekend and only 2 weeks away. He is paying for MIL to go out. I spent some time this evening looking at flights. Kayak...Expedia...Orbitz...CheapTickets...best I could find for non-stop was $374 on United out of Dulles (Fri - Sun) with a crappy early return flight at like 7:30 am on Sun.:sad2: We really cannot afford for all of us to go. I do not know what DH will decide - I feel if he feels an obligation to go then I cannot say no if he wants to go alone. I mean, it's his brother. But seriously. 2 weeks notice over an expensive flying nightmare of a weekend. No, no, no. And there will be a rental car and hotel on top too. The Redskins play at home (against the Giants) at 1:00 on that Sunday. I suppose if he took that early flight he could make it. But he will likely have homework over the weekend too. I don't know. I mean, I feel bad, but we are NOT in a position for all 3 of us to go.:headache:

 Votes anyone?!:rolleyes1

Oh Man! I understand if DH had to go, then yeah, have him go to keep the family peace, but no way would I drop everything over a holiday weekend, spend over a grand on airfare alone, especially with 1 less income in the family, not to mention given this guys track record. :headache: I don't know, a wedding being planned in 2 weeks doesnt seem like its going to be a big deal, so maybe they wont even expect him to go. Where they are paying for MIL, maybe thats saying "she has to be there, but I understand if the rest of you cant". Maybe?

You mentioned rental car...can the brother or someone pick him up at the airport and drive him around. Thats the least they can do, Geesh!

OK, this would stress me out and Annie, I know you are more of a planner than me, so I totally understand where you are coming from. ;)

DH has mixed feelings about going and I think they understand if we don't go. BIL doesn't know this but DH is not 100% on board with the marriage. The whole thing about them doing it NOW is that he ships back to Iraq in January. He works in intelligence...like super undercover stuff a lot of the time. Anyway, God Forbid, BUT if something were to happen to him while he's there if they're married she would get survivor benefits and "would be taken care of" to some degree basically for the rest of her life I think. That's why they're rushing to do it so fast. I mean, they've been dating on & off for a couple of years... Even if I WAS working I don't think I would like spending over $1,100 unexpectedly right at the holidays. By the time you throw in hotel & car it would easily be $1,500. I figured BIL would be too busy being the groom to run a taxi service back & forth to the airport - esp. if DH takes an early flight home on Sun. morning so that's why I figured on a rental car. So I don't know. DH's Dad called - they moved to AZ sometime this summer. I think they're planning to go...but sounded like they found some really cheap flights. I didn't see anything cheap from here. DH really doesn't seem like he gives a rats you know what so I don't know what he will decide.

I am just trying to run the best budget I can with what we have to work with these days and I didn't budget for a trip to Kansas!:rotfl: I guess I look at everything we decide to spend money on from my own little perspective. Maybe my rationale is screwy. :confused3 I still have money squirreled away here & there for things that I am still holding out hope for (more DVC points, DCL again in 2012). I don't want to spend my secret stashes just yet... I am looking ahead thru the holidays, DS's next swim session has to be paid soon, the balance on that January ski trip is due in Dec (that is likely in lieu of much Xmas under the tree). You know...stuff. :rolleyes1
