Unless Ike speeds up I think he will be OK. I have not seen the forecast today but last I heard landfall would not be until late Friday or Saturday. He is scheduled to fly out of Houston Hobby late Thursday night.

MEEEEE!!! Me! Me! It's depressing to know it will be next summer before we can go again! Are you just going for the day on Saturday or spending the night? Where are you staying (WL?) We had a great lunch at Capt Jacks in DTD when we went LAST summer.... Hope you have fun!

I got to file for my 13 week Extension of Unemployment Benefits today. We shall be able to survive for another 3 months... How do you think DS will feel about getting TS for Xmas?! Great stocking stuffer, right?! OH LOOKIE WHAT SANTA BROUGHT US!!

LOL! Thats still up in the air for next summer. If it happens we would go to Delray Beach to see my aunt for a day before the cruise. Personally, I would prefer to do what we did last summer and just go vist my aunt for a day, then head to WDW, but if the whole family comes it would only be for a cruise and to see my aunt.

My father says no way is he traveling anymore, hes sick of flying and all the crap involved (although they are going to Vegas next month). But if the rest of the family went, he would be forced into going too. On the other hand we have my sister who is the constant naysayer. My niece has practice and tryouts for her sports over the summer so they cant go, and its too expensive, and....

So, I think it will be a while before anyone decides anything on this trip. I don't like being at their mercy.

You know...we (I) came up with this grand idea to try to plan an extended family trip for late next summer (mid-late August) for my parents 50th anniversary. THAT is going to be a true headache to plan too! My brother (3 yrs younger than me) FINALLY got a "real" job for the first time ever this summer at 40something!! He has always worked on a rig in the oil & gas fields (very hard / inconsistent work) and he got hurt a couple of years ago & has been existing on Workers Comp. Well, he had been trying to get a release to go back to work for this rig inspector job with the State. Finally. He got it in June. So he is working now on a regular basis and has benefits for once etc. He is still dirt poor, but in the end will be better off - eventually if he works year round. Of course my parents are retired - so the whole trip will be a stretch for all of us to afford....plus we asked Daryl's Mom & step bro to go (his bro. Dale is now going back to Iraq in January so won't be able to go)...and I don't know about any nephews going yet....but what WE have offered to do is to use our DVC points to cover the accomodations for everyone - but they're on their own to GET there & everything else. I mean, we figured the place to stay was a lot, right. That's why we went last Jan. & this July on DVC cash nights VS using our points - we're trying to save them for next summer. But so the TRICK of it all will be to get everyone to decide on a DATE that agrees with everyone and the PLACE of course.

I am afraid none of them will be able to afford WDW tickets. So I was thinking Vero Beach would be cheaper....but I don't know if we can get in there not owning... My parents anniv. is actually 9/5 but our school starts the last week of Aug. so we have to go before that....but so I don't know. And Josh (the step bro) graduates HS next yr so I don't know if he'll be going off to college...I don't know. I am going to have to get after all of them soon tho to seriously start thinking about what we want to do by like January so we can be ready to book it at 7 months. This is going to take a stick of dynamite under someones tush. I will probably have to just TELL everyone this is when and this is where and ask "who's in"?!

LOL, Annie! I say we both ditch the extended families and we go on a trip together...Besty, you can stalk us too. The rest of the peeps, come along too. We had no trouble planning our cruise together this year... 4 of us even ended up at the same hotel without planning it.

Phyllis survived. Party was a sucess. Cousin's friends ate everything they could get their hands on and drank 6 pitchers of champagne punch in an hour.

But the wedding festivities just keep getting more fun. Mom told me 2 cousins and their spouses, (haven't talked to any of 'em in years
), are going to be staying at my house. I hate company (certain Peeps excluded ) - oh and my kids have to miss a day of school for some family portrait and a birthday party afterwards and yes you must stay for it and no you can't leave early I don't care if Doug has a test that day it's a family thing and you will be there*... so Phyllis is crabby.



* yeah, we could miss it but I missed a "family" ski trip one year 'cuz I didn't want to miss college classes and I still hear about it
