DIS-functional Wonder Peeps Part III revisited

Morning ya'll:cool2:

Yup, everything goes by birthdates here too. That was DS's disadvantage this summer with the swimming. He turned 11 on May 18 and the team started on May 27 so he had to swim in the meets with the 11/12 yr olds. BUT because he was new at it they let him practice some in the lane with the 9/10's. That was good and bad. That was the age group he swam best with and they focused on the things he needed to work on...but the problem with that was that they only swim 25 meters in the meets whereas the 11/12's have to swim 50 meters. He would've done REALLY well to have only had to swim 25 meters in the meets...he always lost steam in his 2nd 25 on the 50's! But oh well. He made it. He should be ready for it by next summer.:goodvibes Gert - good luck with your dilema!

If she's going to be kangaroo-bobbing around the field (and potentially watching butterflies) she would do well to be with other hoppers and watchers. JMO

And don't forget dandelion pickers and cartwheel performers. I loved wathcing DH stress when the girls would start that. The boys just kicked the dirt around. :lmao: Oh and my favorite was the girl who would stand in the field doing cheers. I cant believe Im saying this but Im itching for soccer season to start. :upsidedow

Oh the cartwheel turners! I'd forgotten about them! Girls on my team would turn circles and sing. Dougie had boys that just stood there s p a c i n g out. Not sure where they were but they definately were NOT on the field. Maybe watching cloud formations? "Oh, look! A bear. No, it's boat. No, it's a...."

we all know it's a puppy.

:lmao: We made DS play flag football one year! He was a spinner! One time during practice somebody threw the ball at him and he was like "Hey! You almost hit me!":rotfl2: I tried to disappear and blend into my chair but it didn't work!:rotfl:

I'm sorry, but...:rotfl2: Too cute!

:lmao: That is too funny!!

Ok got an email from the league. Instead of giving me options or verifying the birthdate they just moved her to a U8 team.:headache:

So I called the mom - she says she made a mistake on the reg form and the player really did just turn 8. She repeated a grade in school and she thought the player might be more comfortable playing with the 2nd graders than the 3rd graders since that is her current grade level. Informed her that is not how it works, league goes by birthdate only.:headache:  So the girls should in fact be in U9 and should remain on my team.

Stoopid soccer league. Now they say they have already moved her to a U8. Stoopid stoopid stoopid. I wonder what they thought I meant by "what are my options? Let me verify the DOB with the parents." Now it has become a bigger mess.

Huh so the parent got the date wrong and the clerks had it right. Go figure. Trying to help a player not get trampled and created a beeg fat mess. Guess she really is gonna get trampled.:rotfl: OK just kidding. oh where to play her, where to play her....

Gert- if she is a butterfly-watcher she may be better off in U8. There may be more girls like her or at least a few girls who have never playedd before and therefore she is less likely to get hurt?

Annie- your football story reminds me of Babs's short lived soccer career. Dad was a great goalie. Brother Dougie was a fabulous player. Mom was so-so but played none the less. OK, so, Babs should give it a try. First game: Babs get in there and get the ball! "No one will give it to me!"

Head Cheerleader?! (And ummm...held back a year? Didn't know they still did that! Hate to say it, but sounds like she's taking after her Mom a little bit if her Mom started the whole mess by putting down the wrong birthdate....):confused3 Poor Gert!

I must stop reading the EB Repo thread. :guilty: I know a couple of families going and it's so depressing to not be there:sad1: Of course, it wouldn't be the same without you guys there, but I really need another cruise to plan. Yes, Phyllis is having a hard time returning to normal life. And school starts on Monday? Can I swear here? Please?

there is someone on the wedding board who is having a VR on that EB cruise...

Too long for me..EB= 20lbs and $5 onboard charges!!!

You mean $5 K, right?! After seeing our totals for the B2B's I'm afraid we'd be more than that even!

Cheri - SNAP OUT OF IT!! Wait for them to go back to the Med or someplace really spectacular! Keep telling yourself it will be worth the wait!! (There is logic in that somewhere!):rotfl:

OK, just finished cleaning the stove & wiping down the bottom cabinets in the kitchen (I know I SAID I was going to do it the other day after I finished trimming the bushes but I lied!) WHOEVER said that a large kitchen with white cabinets would be a good idea?! Who can I blame for this?!:confused3 Yuck! Actually, I will blame Toll Brothers. Yeah. That's it!:rotfl: What I really wanted was natural maple - but at the time I wanted them with black appliances. Well, they would not LET me get the black appliances unless I upgraded to the "gourmet kitchen" with the expansion and the island cooktop and the wall oven. I didn't want that 'cuz with that layout you lose the desk area (read: area to pile crap once the island is fully covered in crap). Anyway, I am tired of the white cabinets and we've only lived here 8 years!:rolleyes1 I am very glad that I put the natural maple in the basement tho when we finished it...very, very glad...........

yes...5K!!

Got the credit card bill today...DH days it will be a LONG time before we get another vacation!!

(hahaha..he doesn't know about Monterey yet!!)

Toll Brother's have a partner here..they only do ONE kind of kitchen...WHITE!! They say it is because it helps keep the cost down..everyone has the same cabinet..

Only WHITE? That's funny. I don't think white is quite as popular now as it was 8 or 10 yrs ago. Toll Brothers does not work that way here - we still had a selection - but they had other quirks. Your cabinets look like they are almost the same color as the ones we put in the basement!! I love them! I have better cabinets down in the basement than in the kitchen but that's 'cuz at the time I was working on designing the basement DH's work had 1 location that had a kitchen dept. - so we were able to get them for cheap with his discount (now they've done away with that dept.). They announced they were closing the dept. before we were ready so we actually went down & chalked out the basement & did rough estimated measurements based on the chalk lines and then I worked with their kitchen designer to lay out the bar and entertainment wall - we just ordered some extra pieces of crown molding & shoe mold & other misc. filler pieces so we'd have stuff on hand to make them fit! They kept all the stuff stored in their warehouse for us for probably 6 months! Then when my uncle finally finished the basement he had to do the drywall based on where we put the chalk marks and the cabinet measurements I had done.:rotfl2: Just a leetle bit backwards! :lmao: But it worked out great!

Cheri - volleyball's on....USA is 1 pt. behind right now...oops - no, tied...

Thats what I sort of think, Betsy. As great as 2 weeks on the ship would be, it almost seems too long. Id rather do 2, 7 days spaced out a bit. It seems like more of a treat that way, if that makes sense.

Of course, if someone told me today to pack my bags, they are bringing me along, I woudnt say no. ;)
