DIS-functional Wonder Peeps Part III revisited

Katie! You live in a Winter Wonderland!:lmao: How was the party?

DH went to his last season home skins game today....wind is picking up....we are supposed to have a wind chill of ZERO by tomorrow morning! Better him than me out there! :cold: I went down to the basement & got into the ski clothes bin...dug out one of those snuggle things you put around your neck but can pull up over your face so he could take that. Figured once it gets dark he might want that. I would anyway! Sent him with "hotties" for all of them (handwarmers & toe warmers). I love those toe warmers. I cannot find them in a value size box tho like I can the handwarmers. They say NOT to use them in your ski boots when you are breaking them in...'cuz they will make a depression in the boot as it molds to fit you....but OH are they toasty when it's COLD. I might have to try putting them on TOP of my foot. We'll see. I think I will try w/o them but will have them in a pocket if I get cold so I can put them on. Anyway, DO NOT ENVY DH today!

DH gave me one of my Xmas presents last night. I am sick of watching the darned Blue Jays root around in all of the birdseed to pick out what they want. They make such a mess digging for whatever it is they want and they empty the feeder in 2 days and the feed is too expensive for them to waste it all. I had gotten a cone thing to put on the pole and we moved the feeder away from the trees so the squirrels couldn't get it...but now the Blue Jays are wasting all of it. I had been trying to get DH to go out & build me a little platform under the feeder to catch some of the feed...but he found a thing at the Wild Bird Center store that is a mesh screen built into this wooden frame JUST FOR THIS purpose. Well, I guess it's sort of a feeder too...but it's a seed catcher in my book!! :woohoo: He put it out on the pole for me yesterday while I took DS to swimming and put a bow on it. He gave it to me early so I would stop nagging him about building this platform.:rolleyes1 My feeder now looks sorta like it belongs in a trailer park what with the platform right on top of this cone - kind of a lot going on. But I am hopeful this will help preserve some of the seed for the Cardinals & Chickadees.:goodvibes

beautiful blue skies today and 62. That's why I live here!

Annie: repos at $715K???? wow.

Katie: purty pictures. I know that snow looks so nice - until you have to go out in it (like drive).

I talked to SE and Steve a few nights ago. She is uber-stressed. Steve sounded like Steve, good natured and funny. I'm still gonna send heep beeg prayers.

Almost finished wrapping and the cards are out! This is the earliest I've been finished in years! Except I keep wondering if I have enough for the kids How many is right? How many is too much? (found an AWESOME gold mickey charm and necklace for Babs and Dougie is getting RockBand for Wii. There are 3 other things each........ I don't know. It seems like when I was a kid, we opened gifts for an hour. Maybe revisionist history?????)

We may get some weather this week :woohoo: (wet stuff, NOT Katie's. No do snow in SD)

Mornin peeps! All I can say right now is :cold: :cold: :cold: (13 & windy this am). But supposed to be :beach: (50) by Xmas!

We have about the same temps today, Annie, and a snow day so the kids are home. Yeah, I think SD is my kind of place right about now. I could handle rain. I never find snow pretty. Just the thoguht of digging out in the freezing cold is not fun. I want to run to the bank today, but my car is covered (DH took the one in the garage), so I'm really debating about not going.

I can't imagine what SE is going through. Glad to hear Stever seems upbeat and OK.

The party went well, very low key. Then yesterday we just had some of his frineds over, not a real party or anything, just to hang out. Now I have to do it all again on Wednesday night for the fam. Again,I want to run out and do some errands for that party, but looking at that car, I dont think I will...maybe tonight. ;)

Any way you could bribe Cam & Colt for a little help clearing the car & shoveling out? Since Santa is due in like 3 days!:rolleyes1

LOL! Yeah, actually Cam really wants to go to Target to buy a case for his new Ipod touch or whatever it is, but this is the fairly new car. If I have them clean it off I can only imagine the scratches that wil be on it. I'd rather wait. ;)

Here Katie..This is for you..this camera is only about a mile from my mother's condo

Niiiice! THAT is where I need to be. :thumbsup2 I can't even dig my freakin car out. Its killing me because work is slow today and I could get so much done if I could get out. Of course who knows what the roads are like once I would get out on them, but still. ARGH!

OMG! That's gorgeous. Where's Anne? :magnify: Is Anne out there sunbathing?:sail: It is SO freaking cold up here right now. Freeze your ears off cold. Can't wait for Wednesdays warm up.

Ok, Im really getting ticked off now. DH should be home at 5:30. He made it on time Friday in the height of the storm. Thursday he got in at 6:30, go figure. Its now 6:45 and he is still sitting in traffic. WTH??? I have things to do. I'm trying to deforst the freakin car now. :furious:

she and Kate would have probably been there, but it is very windy here and cold...brr..69 today!!!

Katie - did Peter make it home OK (I hope)!?

Betsy - I love Panera but I always do the 1/2 Greek Salad & 1/2 sandwich rather than the soup. And their Asiago Cheese Foccacia Bread. Yummm. Have you ever had their souffles in the mornings?:rolleyes1 Oh My! To die for!:thumbsup2 They are like a weeks worth of calories tho!

Checking in with you all. Sorry I haven't been around much.
I wanted to thank everyone for their well wishes. We had the funeral for my Papa today. :(

Panera--yummy! I don't know if you all know this, but that's where Tara works. It's my home away from home. LOL

Betsy, that shot looks a lot like the area in Ft. Lauderdale where we stayed before--is that near the Sheraton? then again all of the beaches in that area look alike.

Annie, I'm thinking it is more like freeze your A$$ off cold here! It was so, so, so cold here, and with the wind chill it was down almost to ZERO! It's not supposed to be that cold here. I'm looking forward to some FL and Caribbean weather SOON.
Steve is insisting we still go on the cruise, so I guess we'll be going. It's likely not a good idea, but hey--he's hard headed, so to the Caribbean we go.

I hope everyone has been well. I have not had time to read through everything here. As I'm sure you all know things have been a little hectic here. I have not yet mailed out Christmas Cards...you all might get them by the new year. LOL

Katie, I hope Peter made it home okay. Those roads look pretty fierce up there.

(hugs) to you all. Thank you for being there :grouphug:
SE

Thanks guys. Peter did make it home aobut 7:10. He gets out of work at 5:00. We then tried to go to the bank and Target. EVERY road was gridlocked like Ive never seen, just lines of traffic everywhere you looked. It was insane! Funny thing was there was plenty of parking at Target, but I figure thats becaue every car was out in traffic.

I don't go to Panera often but when I do its the cinnamon crunch bagle for me. Yummy! :thumbsup2

So, we are a whopping 7 degrees here right now. Thank God the cost of oil has dropped. I just hope thats reflected in our bill on our next fill up.

The kids have school today, but just 1/2 day. Its sort of a waste to open the schools and heat them and all for just a few hours, but I guess thats 1 less day in June. ;)

Sue Ellen, so sorry for your troubled times right now...glad to hear from you tho. I am sure Papa's funeral was bitter cold.:grouphug: I can tell you that this peep certainly does not expect you to do anything beyond taking care of yourself and your family for the holidays. Make sure Santa has time to go over Trevor & Tara's list then sit down and relax sometime with Steve!:)

 Heat wave! It was 14.9 this morning out back this morning (my neighbor said hers on her front stoop read 5.9 but hers is sitting on concrete). FINALLY the WIND has died down tho! It was so windy before that the new motion sensor light we put up by the garage doors kept staying on all night!:rotfl: It is set to click on & go off after a few min. when something crosses its path but I guess it was "seeing" the wind so it stayed on!:scared: I closed all the blinds & shades to add extra insulation on the windows but I feel like I'm in a cocoon not being able to see out. Must open a couple a couple here & there now that the sun is coming up.

HOPE to finish wrapping today...it's the last day of school for DS before winter break...I hope they don't pile on TOO much homework for them over the break. So far he said he's got English to do. The weather forcast is sounding "iffy" for driving to WV on Friday evening.:headache: Now I have to obsess over the forecast for the next couple of days.:sad2:

So-o the water mains can't handle all of this freezing cold weather...we had a 66 inch line break in the lower part of the county this morning...it trapped people in their cars in the heart of Bethesda in the middle of rush hour in this freezing cold weather! It's far enough away that WE still have water but it was such a large, major break it affects A LOT of the county...so they had to close schools early and all of the office buildings in the city etc. So SURPRISE...DS got to start his vacation early!
