DIS-functional Wonder Peeps Part III revisited

. Here in So. Fla. it is Summer 11 months a year.

I really should be living in FL. Want to switch houses, Anne? since your AC bill is going down, you can have our oil bill. We have already gotten 1 fill up. ;) Have a good trip!

Sorry, Annie, gotta pass on the trade. I have enough trouble of my own. That math does not sound like fun.

be afraid of an AC bill!! You can always put more clothes on in the winter..hard to make it without air!

utilility bills:eek: HATE them. we're on the budget plan for both our electric and our gas (do NOT envy you with the oil thing Katie)!! I have been on a mission for the past YEAR to lower our elec. bill. After we finished the basement it skyrocketed - more than doubled!! I've finally got it down about $25 / month from what it was for awhile...but I have to NAG, NAG, NAG about leaving lights on & not turn the A/C down very low etc. That basement drains a lot....we don't use the overhead recessed lights very much 'cuz there's like 26 of them - they make it hot and of course use a lot of elec. We have 4 wall sconces we use most of the time...and I only use the lights at the bar when I have to.... But we have a frig / icemaker down there that's an energy hog AND DH has one of those Skybox Vending Machines all decked out in Redskins attire ( http://www.amazon.com/SkyBox-Maytag-Personal-Beverage-Vendor/dp/B0000CEL23 ) which is basically ANOTHER frig.... Then of course DS's computer...and the BEEG TV and the game systems and the sound system and the dehumidifier......ummm...yeah. LOTS of electricity down there! FL peeps - do you all run completely on electric or do you have like gas too like we do? Between the two utilities we avg. around $260 / month I think.

Hey! Someone is spamming our thread again. :cool2:

Sean, let me aplogize for the actions of Mr Red Sox.

For most of us in SFL we are running completely on electricity. It has been a hot season this summer. Hopefully it will end soon. We are $300+ per month in our 1,400sqft house with no basement for ours. We keep the house at 82°F during the day while we are at work and at 76°F when we get home. I think that it runs constantly. The biggest issue being that the temperature only drops into the 70's for a short period of time everyday. So, nothing ever cools off enough. :sad2:

$450 last month for gas and electricty. next month will be much more. I win! Wait...:headache:

Ok, here is the deal...

T&O's House - $322 / 1456sqft = $0.22 per sqft. Average high temp in Sept. '08 87°F

What you got Cheri? $450 / 2500 sqft = $0.18
/ 3000 sqft = $0.15
/ 3500 sqft = $0.13

LOL! :rotfl2:

Don't try to mess with my hub on numbers...

he knows how they interpretate... ::yes::

give the girl a cookie! and a  I don't even want to see our bills for this month :scared1: - I let Babs run both the upstairs and downstairs A/C units for a couple of weeks! Good thing I'm not cooling the RJ Suite. I would if you were here though :flower3:

:scared1: Holy Crap People! RJ wins a whole CASE of cookies!! This is why we do the budget plan on our electricity and gas...same amount basically every month, 12 months / year. I do not keep it COLD in the summer....nor do I keep it hot in the winter....I was sitting here gasping for air most of the summer 'cuz I also keep the thermostats up to the upper 80's during the day...didn't want to "blow it" on our average just 'cuz I was HOME this summer... House is pretty big I guess....we have 2 AC units and 2 furnaces which is supposedly more efficient once you reach a certain SF...I think we have about 3,400 SF for the 1st fl & 2nd fl combined + the basement...the finished part is approx. another 900 or 950 SF....it is a very weird shape - hard to measure - but we used 950 SF of insulation in the ceiling down there when we finished it....so I assume that could translate to the SF of the room??:confused3 TZM??

OK, so I am not makin' any money at this darned Tastefully Simple stuff. Had my 2nd party tonight... The girls house was just about 26 miles away...I needed to be there by 6:00 to set up so I had to leave home at 5:00 (Fri. rush hour ya know). She invited 17 people...yesterday she was expecting as many as 15 so I got spare folders & order forms ready blah, blah, blah...today the guest list started switching to "maybes" & "probablys". She ended up with only 6 guests!:headache: One didn't order anything at all...the other 5 only ordered $195 worth of product.:rolleyes1 I JUST got home around 11:00. So I spent 6 hours of my evening + quite awhile preparing my folders and samples....after my grocery items etc I probably only made $30.:sad2: :headache: No other bookings either... Some get rich quick scheme I had here 'eh?!:rotfl: On a brighter note my next door neighbor finally picked her date & sent her invitations...she invited like 24...so maybe I can salvage the month with her.:confused3 What I NEED are more bookings tho...

I am having a glass of wine & goin' to bed!

See this is why I SHOULD be living in Florida. I would keep the house warm all the time. I like it in the mid-high 80s. Id probably even open the windows most nights, and turn off the AC. I would do well, however, DH may move out if I kept the house that hot.

So, my latest reason to stress...we got invited to a Halloween party and I need a costume. Its tough because I don't really know who or what type of crowd it is. Like if it were my friends it would be easy, I could do anything, but since I don't know the crowd, I don't want to look to dorky, or overly...ummm, well you know (look at some of the costumes out there, LOL). UGH! And I also dont want to spend $$$ for something Ill wear for a few hours. So, any easy, somewhat normal ideas?

Wouldn't work... the humidity wouldn't let you breathe. And you'd be washing your sheets every day... :laundy:

that is what I was thinking..sleeping with the windows open...BA HAHAHA!

after Hurricanes when we had no power, we were taking showers every few hours just to get the sweat off

Katie - there isn't a breeze, so the house is stagnant without AC even fans dont help!
