Morning all

Along with our dieting it's important that we fit some exercise into our week.

I always find it more motivating if I do it with a friend..... So here we are!!!

Why not post your daily or weekly plans as well as any tips you think others might find useful and by the summer really arrives hopefully we'll all be a bit thinner and loads fitter :cool1:

Less :surfweb: and more :yay: or  or :dance3:

Even if you can only fit in 20 minutes it all counts!!

I a bit poorly with a chesty cough so no exercise plans for me for a couple of days. I have been working to improving my times for a duathlon next Sunday but right now I can't breathe without coughing so am just going to see how I get on this week :headache:

So come on and join in - you'll love it!!!

Katie

My tip for this week is - if you have a ladies/gents up or down a floor where you work "use the stairs" for a little extra exercise :thumbsup2

I will be going to the gym

my programme today is

treadmill fast walk 15 mins random

rowing 2000 m as fast as possible

stepper 10 mins level 12 random

cycle 15 mins rolling programme

cross trainer 10 mins interval training

hoping to also get out for a few walks with hubby in the evenings :thumbsup2

I have been losing weight recently. I haven't been on the dieting thread as it wasn't a specific diet I was following. In fact all I have really done is to cut down a lot on bread. I used to eat it at every opportunity in all different forms but since cutting it out almost totally it has had a big impact.
I don't go to a gym but my job is pretty active and involves climbing ladders and staircases for a 12 hour shift (not all of it of course)
And then there is the Wii. I enjoy the boxing in wii sports and there are plenty of other things that get the heart racing.
A week ago Louise (Buzz for Boys) came to visit and we had a go on the Wii dance. It wasn't a pretty sight (me - not Louise) but boy did it leave me out of breath. I haven't given a repeat performance yet but never say never :thumbsup2
I would also be interested to hear more about this Zumba that seems to be all the rage. What is it? Do men do it?

My weekly fitness regime (even now I still can't believe I am saying this .. as someone who hasn't done any proper exercise in years) is 3 x 1 hour sessions doing zumba. I absolutely love it, it is so much fun, because it doesn't matter how old you are (btw, both my girls come with me too), or what size you are, you are too busy concentrating on the instructor that you don't notice who is around you

I'm also going to be taking part in a 3 hour zumbathon for charity on the 1st May, how mad is that ?

I've been going to the gym now for 2 months. My current program for each sessions is:

X-Trainer
5mins on @ 50-60rpm, level 1 - repeated 3 times (plus a 5min slow warm up)

Bike
4mins @ 90rpm, level 5 then 1min 100+rpm, level 7 - repeated 3 times

Rower
1km, level 3 - fast as possible (started at 7min, now down to 4min 47 secs)

Weight machines (Repeated 3 times)
Lat machine - 5Kg, 20 reps
Chest press - 5Kg, 20 reps
Should press - 4Kg, 20 reps
Leg extensions - 4Kg, 20 reps
Leg curl - 3Kg, 20 reps
Leg press - 50Kg, 20 reps

I go 3 times in the week - Monday, Tuesday and Friday and do an extra session on Sunday morning where I just do what I like to break the routine up a little, including at least 1Km on the treadmill at 5.5Km pace - my WDW trip training (I wear my WDW trainers to break them in LOL).

Got me 2 month re-assesment on Friday so I'm sure my instructor will increase most of the above (her favourite phrase is "is it hurting yet?")!

Kenny that story is just not the same without a picture ;););)

As for Zumba I have arranged to go to my first class this week Im hoping that my back holds up for the full 45 minutes. If you check out www.zumba.com you can put your postcode in and get a list of classes (one at Tayys school!!:goodvibes)
It is basically a latin version of just dance so you have the gear !!! :lmao::lmao:

Youtube have loads of videos and some classes have loads of men in them !!
******** title="YouTube video player" width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/E1nSuqXb8sY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Ill let you know how I get on and if i get home in 1 piece :goodvibes

It's great to see so many people getting off the sofa and doing something :thumbsup2

Just goes to show that there are so many choices of activities that there really is something for everyone no matter how big/small or how fit you are!

Keep it up everyone :yay:

Katie

My aim is to do more walking and join a pilates class, also there is a zumba class 2 mins away from here, but I'm not sure whether my back the way it is will manage it or not  I'll have to have a look at the youtube videos to see what its like!!

What a great idea for a weekly thread :thumbsup2

I have quite a varied weekly routine, which is nice because even if I miss a class I don't feel as bad, as I know I have something more in the week to compensate.

I do aerobics on a Monday, sometimes if I'm feeling particularly energetic, I'll do Zumba and then aerobics in the same evening.

On a Tuesday I now have a new activity - jogging! I've signed myself up for Race for Life and decided I need to beat my time from last time I did it, so I'm back on the jogging again to prepare. I do hope to continue it after Race for Life also.

Wednesday, back to Zumba...

Thursday I do legs, bums and tums and when it gets a little warmer, I'll be adding the aqua-aerobics back in there too.

Friday, this will be another jogging day/swimming evening, depending how I'm feeling.

Sunday -jogging.

Now, I just need to get the eating straight and I'm hoping for weight-loss, which I've not achieved recently, despite all the above activities! :scared1:

Tip for this week: if you can't get out to classes, and have a Wii, XBox or PS3 then purchase Zumba fitness, it's great fun, even on beginner level :woohoo:

Wed 1 hour wii fit
Thur 18 holes golf (had the app for walking on 4.7 miles covered)
Satuday 40 minutes on wii fit plus cut the lawns (had the app for walking on 1.69 miles covered)
Sunday walk the beach 1.5 mile walk
Monday 9 holes Golf and keep fit class (had the app for walking on 1.7 miles covered)

great idea for a thread
keep up the good work everyone

went out for 1hr walk this evening :thumbsup2

Yesterday I did an hour of yoga. It was an old video that I bought years ago and never got round to using. It was actually quite good, though I am a bit hopeless at it at the moment. At one point I over-balanced and nearly cracked my head open on the hearth! I plan to do the tape every day if I can, plus I walk our dog most days for about an hour.

You seem to have the gym all under control :thumbsup2 These lighter evenings make evening walks much nicer :)

I used to eat it at every opportunity in all different forms but since cutting it out almost totally it has had a big impact. Good for you - I love bread and sometimes feel I should go without to see if it stops my tummy swelling up... or maybe thats just too much food :rotfl:
And then there is the Wii. I enjoy the boxing in wii sports and there are plenty of other things that get the heart racing.
I wonder what you could mean.... :rolleyes1
I would also be interested to hear more about this Zumba that seems to be all the rage. What is it? Do men do it? This does seem to be all the rage at the moment - its not something I've looked into, but looks like it could be a fun evening!

They all say you are a crazy woman! :rolleyes1

Did you manage to join any classes? Let us know how you get on.

I know just how you feel - i am a very regular gym goer and can happily run a half marathon, but try to get this extra 1/2 stone off - forget it! It would be nice to actually LOOK like I spend time in the gym, rather than looking like I spend my time eating! :rotfl:

Tip for this week: if you can't get out to classes, and have a Wii, XBox or PS3 then purchase Zumba fitness, it's great fun, even on beginner level :woohoo:

These lighter evenings will give you extra golf hours!

went out for 1hr walk this evening :thumbsup2

Well done Rachel :) I've been out for my little jog earlier, my word it's hard work :lmao:
It WILL get easier - just stick at it ;)
Gym tonight after work :)
:thumbsup2

At one point I over-balanced and nearly cracked my head open on the hearth! Exercise is supposed to be good for you - not nearly kill you :rotfl2: I plan to do the tape every day if I can, plus I walk our dog most days for about an hour.
Keep it up!

As for me I am still feeling sorry for myself with this cold, but cannot risk doing anything until it goes - I am having trouble breathing when I walk let alone run! It is sooo frustrating, but nothing much I can do :headache:

Katie

Beat my 1km row time again tonight - knocked another 4 seconds off my time :)

I have just signed up for a charity 5K in June - I am a terrible runner so will be starting my training as soon as the Easter holidays start! I hope to go for my first run on Saturday and will be using my time off to join a gym :scared1:

Excellent idea to post this - I am desperately needing to shape up for summer but cant diet as I love food too much! Good luck everyone!

Great thread :hippie:

Last week I decided to start jogging again, started with a 2 mile jog around the neighbourhood everyday last week, and today I upped it to 3 miles. Surprisingly I managed it just fine, so am going to keep doing that all week.

I really want to try Zumba but all the classes seem to be in the evenings and I work nights so could be tricky to find one I can go to :sad2:

Good luck this week everyone!

Had my two month program review at the gym tonight and Amy, my instructor, is increasing the times and/or resistance settings on almost everything, increased my weights and added a couple of exercises - one with a blue ball!

I wonder whether I will be able walk out of the gym on Monday!

Picked up my new exercise plan for the next 2 months at the gym this morning :)

Got to do some speed variations on the cross trainer -5x1min bursts at 70rpm
and 5x1min at 50rpm.

On the bike I have to do 1min sprints at >100rpm at level 10 resistance.

All the weights on my resistance training have been increased and I have two additional arm exercises.

Also got to do some squats using the big gym ball.

Also added side bends with 12.5Kg dumbbells, back extensions and crunches on the big gym ball!!

I will be crawling out the gym on Monday!

Also got some new scales that measure body fat %
