DD is 2.5. About a month ago she went to my sister's for the weekend and came home with a strange mark on her leg. At least this was the first time we had noticed it - I'm definitely not blaming my sister for anthing. She's golden.
Ok so it's on the front of her upper leg. Like right about the spot you'd consider her lap. It's a mark about the size of a dime, indented, and a slightly different color. Almost like an old healed burn. It's always looked like that, and never bruised or scabby.
The strange part is underneath. It's like whatever muscle or fat that was there has disappeared. So it's real mushy there and caves in a little. You can really feel it when you compare the two legs.
At a doctor's visit this week I showed it to the PA and she said she had never seen one before and didn't think it was from a vaccine (that is where they give shots). She said she wasn't too concerned about it, but would run it by the doctor.
DH and I were talking about it and now it's starting to bother us. What sort of dent shows up on a child's leg? And DD has a lot of food and environmental allergies, so we don't know if this is somehow related.
What kind of specialist would you see about this? Talk to my allergist or ask to see a dermatologist? Or could it just be an injury (from a fall) that hasn't healed well?
