DIS Divas Trip! (old thread, see first post for link to new one)

Hi there gals!
Summer sure is a busy time, and I love it! So much easier to get stuff done without all that school stuff interrupting the flow of the day. Of course there is still baseball, and swimming, not to mention outings and vacations...But somehow I still manage to work more and get more house work and cooking done. I should just homeschool:) JUST KIDDING! By mid August I am screaming for school to start again!
Nate and I just got back from 4 days at Disneyland. He is such an awesome Disney buddy. He totally has it down. Arrive early, get fast pass, go on ride, go on ride, use fast pass, get fast pass, get snack, go on ride, go on ride, use fast pass, get fast pass, get snack, etc. etc. etc. I just LOVE going to Disneyland with him without the rest of the family. Such fun.

We sent his Dad and brother to Alaska on a cruise alone. Originally we were all going to go, but it was turning into this huge financial investment and none of us had cruised before and I just did not want to risk that much money on an unknown. Turns out the had a good time. Hubby thinks we would have a great time. My son got a little bored. There were not many kids, it was a little cold in the pool. Probably my younger son would have been bored to tears on day 3. So glad we didn't go!

Anyhow, really enjoying the garden/yard as it changes weekly and new things are blooming. But I can't get caught up on the weeds. It is insane! I am paying my teenager to weed, but he really only does about 30 minutes a day.

Ok, off to shampoo more carpets. Started yesterday when a glass of milk was swished off a table (that it should not have been on!) and onto the floor by my pooch. Darn enthusiastic tale! But it looked so good that now I want to get them all done!

Hope you are all having a wonderful summer. I keep watching Southwest to see when they open up for booking for the trip. I have a luv voucher and also points, so I want to book as soon as I can!

Good morning, ladies! Happy Monday! I hope you all enjoyed your weekend. :)

Tracey, you have way too much energy for me today! lol I thought about cleaning my bathroom....and that was about as far as I got. ;)

Wow, I am far behind. Just realized now that the Meet and Greet theme got announced. I am totally out of the loop this year. Love the theme though! I noticed the FB post said the meal had been chosen. Have they announced what the meal is?

I am getting so excited for this trip! Glad that my friend is able to come with me too. I am missing Disney really bad right now.

So not sure if this is good or bad news yet, but I start today at my new part time job at the Children's Place. Good news is that I get a 30% discount on clothes, and it's only part time. Bad news is, I have never worked retail, and I am not sure I am going to like it. And I hate working. But I am hoping the shorter hours will make it tolerable and I won't fall into another depression because of it. Wish me luck!

I'm going to the Trick or Treat party! I'm so excited ! Told all the day care parents I'm closing early that day and all worked out well. Sarah said I absolutely have to dress up. I have no idea what to be. She also said to bring a big heavy duty bag for the candy because the one they give you is small. I plan to hit up all the stations twice. I'll get the large locker to store it in. This will be the candy I pass out on Halloween, after I pick out all my favorites that is.:rotfl: I am really looking forward to this.

When we go to DLR DH and I always take our car. But, since I'm going without him and he needs the car for work I'm faced with the extra burden/cost of renting a car. I lost my medical insurance and had to have back surgery, so I'm looking at medical bills coming out the wazoo :( Almost to the point where I may have to totally back out of this, but I may get just a little help with some other costs.

I'm hoping to find someone who wouldn't mind sharing their car with me and of course I'd help with gas. I live in Modesto, just off Hwy 99. I have myself checking in on Feb 25th and checking out on Mar 3rd ... at least I think that's right, but I can always make adjustments.

Possibility of putting this up front so it doesn't get hidden?

Thank you in advance :goodvibes

Hello Divas!

I'm still around, and still thinking about the 2014 Diva Trip!

We just bought our tickets for the Halloween Party, yay! We'll be there on Halloween night, so we're all really excited! Even Daryl has his costume planned. He wants to be Mr. Incredible. I can't wait to see him in his spandex suit! :rotfl2:

I was able to get a free Parkhopper with my AirMiles, so I figure upgrading it to an Annual Pass won't really cost much more than the Hopper. Then I can go on the Diva Trip! Yay!

The girls are at summer camp this week, so maybe I can get caught up on all the Diva happenings. :)

OH my goodness Ladies I had started this long boring post... then walked away for a couple of days because I didn't have time to finish it... and it wouldn't take it and now the post has disappeared.

ANYWAY... I am alive but due to trying to sell this house and move into another one the Diva trip is a big question mark right now. I suppose it is too late to still get the reservation at the GC? I was on the original list for me and my mom but am guessing we missed out on a cutoff date somewhere.... ugh

Well at any rate I hope all of you wonderful ladies are doing well. I will try to get caught up on all the posts!

Good morning, ladies! Happy Thursday. All day long yesterday, I kept thinking it was Friday. I am all messed up on my days! I hope everyone is enjoying their summer! It's going by so fast. The kids start school here in one month and one day. (not that I'm keeping track or anything, lol!)
I'm not looking forward to starting with the whole back to school shopping. And, I was hoping to get in a quick trip to CA (to Ruben's parents) before school started, but not sure if we'll be able to. We'll see.

Have a great day!!

LOL Andrea! How did you miss the big announcement of the Meet and Greet? We had it here and on our FB page. :rotfl2: We haven't announced what the meal will be just yet. But, it's going to be good! :thumbsup2

Congrats on the new job. Part time, with a discount, and they work with your schedule? I'd love that!!! I can't find anything like that close to me. Hope it all works out for you.

Can't wait to hear what you think about it and see your pics. :)

I'm sorry Lyn, but the front page really isn't for personal posts, but rather for general trip information. Hopefully someone will see this and you'll be able to work something out. Also, I hope you are doing much better after your back surgery. :wizard:

Yay! So glad you'll be joining us again, Dianna. You'll have to share some pics of Daryl's spandex suit. :rotfl:

Hope the girls are having fun at summer camp. :)

Hi Karisa! Sounds like you've had a lot going on lately! Selling a house and moving can be so stressful. Hope it goes well for you and you are still able to attend the trip.

The link to reserve a room is pinned at the top of our DIS Diva FB page. As far as I know, there are still rooms available so you should be fine. :thumbsup2

It all changed :sad1:
Found a new room now :cool1:
Sorry it all changed, but I am glad it worked out in the end. :goodvibes

Happy Sunday all! I'm looking forward to a good week. I work Monday and Tuesday and then I'm off to San Diego for a few days. I need to get away and regroup before the students start making their way to campus. It has been a tough summer and I'm hoping the busy-ness of the start of school will help.

I hope you all have good weeks ahead as well
I LOVE San Diego! Where are you staying? We really enjoy Carlsbad and Oceanside, too. Hope you get the rest and relaxation you need and deserve. :beach:

My daughter will be one of those! We should try to meet up while I'm there. She and I are "resting up" at Disneyland in a couple of weeks :)
"Resting up" at Disneyland makes me laugh. :p I always come home from there bone tired and seriously lacking in sleep! lol

Karisa, rooms are still available. Paula was able to book ours yesterday! It will be Paula, Kerri, my friend Chrissy and I in a room at the GC! I am so excited to stay there. So looking forward to this trip.

Beth, so far Childrens Place is great for schedule. I will work mostly evenings and weekends, and when my mom gets back from California (lucky woman!!) she can watch Seth if I work the odd day shift. So it's great. But i have a feeling most of my paychecks are going to go to clothes. I've already spotted lots I want to buy, lol.

But, just think how cute Seth will look! ;)

Honeys, I'm HOME! LOL So glad it's summer and everyone is busy! It only took me 4 pages to catch up on all of July!

Dawn, belated hugs on the loss of Maxine. I lost my Coco to a fast moving cancer 2 years ago. She was only 4.

Convention was AWESOME FUN, as always. I've been home since Sunday night and I finally feel like I've caught up on my sleep. LOL Now I can start thinking about my next Disney trip (Sept 24 & 25). WAY too far off. LOL

Thank you Lisa...I'm sorry about Coco... only 4 years old that is really hard...I am grateful for the 14 I had my girl with me.

Glad to hear the convention was fun.

Hi, how many days will you be down during Halloweentime?
Yay!!! Good for you. The parents can make other arrangements, you need to have some fun, too. ::yes::

You mean there's more to it besides trick or treating?:rotfl: Looking forward to the Cadaver Dans and the fireworks too.

I consider it a rest. At home it seems like there is always something to do or clean.

Sometimes I check in and there aren't any new posts.:confused3. I'm sure when the subject of meals comes up things will get hopping!
My next DL trip is Sunday.

Happy Friday, ladies! Finally! :cool1:

Lisa, welcome back!

Trudi, this place is a ghost town....but our FB page always has something new and interesting. :thumbsup2

Hello, ladies! Sunday already? The weekend flew by! Ruben had to work today, which kind of sucks but then again, it's only half day and we need the overtime. So, I can't complain!

Hope everyone is having or had a great weekend! :)

Hey Beth - I love going to San Diego too but I'm poor so I have to choose one trip per year - so I have chosen Disneyland the last couple of years. This year with the awful spring/summer that I've had my sister suggested we go to San Diego for a couple of days and I can pay her back over the next few months. I jumped at the chance. Since I am on a tight budget we didn't stay anywhere exciting and we spent some time at Mission Beach and the zoo - which I love. I could spend days at that zoo it is amazing!

Then yesterday we made the long boring trip back across the desert to Phoenix - not the fun part of any trip but has to be done.

Now it is Monday and I'm back to work trying to get my head back in the game. Students will be here soon and we have to be ready to help them get situated and settled for the semester.

Have a great week!

I loved San Diego and Carlsbad when we were there a few months ago. Such a pretty area. Would love to live there some day. Or at least take more trips there. We are going with another couple next May on a 2 week trip and are driving down. We are definitely stopping for a few days in the San Diego area.
