DIS Divas Trip! (old thread, see first post for link to new one)

Good afternoon all. I haven't been over here in ages so wanted to stop in. Dawn so sorry about your pup. My dog had a bad foot and I am in a bad financial situation so was thinking I was going to have to give him up but I was lucky and found an organization that helped with the bill. I know how hard it is when it is our beloved pets. ((hugs)) and I hope you have some good days with her!!

I am in my super busy time of year right now. Katy just finished up track and Shelby finished basketball in March. She has her last band recital next week and her tap recital in June the saturday after we get back.

We have time trials in swim this saturday and it seems like cheer JUST ended which it did in March and now we are starting with clinics for NEXT year already UGH. SHe has decided NOT to do high school cheer though which is a blessing cuz it is just getting to be TOO much plus the expense. Shane has been working bingo to pay for it (is is something they require here and you can make money for the sports). It is getting old though EVERY monday and saturday. Plus Katy does 5k's and did two in the last few weeks and we have one on memorial day and I am doing MY first one in June and hoping to get in shape for the tink 5k in Jan!

Nice to see more new people and WOW over 100. THat is going to be crazy but fun!!

Take care all and see you on FB!! :)

But if you are not on as much, Lisa, I will miss you. :) Bummer about the jobs for your DH.

We are refinancing as well. So far, no snags, and I have bragging rights, my credit score is 10 points higher than my Dh's.

Thanks, AmyOkraGirlScoutCookieSue!

OMG. I think "Re-fi" is Satan speak for the worst form of torture your mind can conjure. The last 48 hours have made me appreciate WINE, anti-acids, advil, wine, tequila, potato chips, take out food, wine, and the thought of once again going to Disney. I have jumped thru more flaming hoops of BS in the last week than anyone should. I've sold stock. I've been on the phone with my bank more times in the last week than in the last 10 years. I've driven all over tarnation delivering payments and getting signatures and fed-exing documents. What really frosts my buns is that if we had stopped paying our mortgage 3 months ago, we would be fast tracked to a dedicated loan specialist who would be on call 24/7 and we would just be out getting manicures and getting our pimp mobiles detailed. But since we cut off a cell phone, stopped having the neighbor kid cut our lawn (we don't own a mower), are eating crap for food, haven't sent a gift to anyone for Christmas, birthday, wedding since September, so that we can keep paying our mortgage on time, we are scum. Sorry. I don't go off like this too often, but this is really stressing me out. In the meantime, my sister is pissed because I don't have the money to help her hire some guy to do a $2k makeover on my mother's yard for mother's day. Um, what happened to cards and flowers? I send a card and either flowers or a gift card every year. Always have. Now I am supposed to cough up $1k to re landscape her yard? Kill me now. Truly.

Sorry. I really try not to be a Debbie Downer, but I'm at a snapping point. Thanks for giving me a pillow to scream into (cue Lilo).....

Do you all realize that we still have 9 1/2 months to go and there are 99 people on the attendee list?!?! !

It took me three years to learn everyones names and now I have to learn more? !:rotfl: Thank goodness for the name tags ! Looking forward to meeting all the newbies!

Hope your week and weekend are better!

I'm glad you will be joining us. It looks like you and I are pretty close to each other geographically though in two separate countries! I live just across the border in Lynden, WA!

Thanks Dec sorry don't know your name ;). I am not running it but fast walking it because I can't run. Have no cartilege in my left knee and got a really bad sprain tearing all my ligaments in my right ankle in Jan. THey both still hurt a lot but I am dealing because I am trying to lose weight and the 5K is a motivator. I walk 3 miles every other day so I figure I can walk a 5K. Doing one in June and then probably the 9/11 one and the run to feed the hungry on thanksgiving and then of course the Disney one in Jan. So excited about that.

Good luck to you as well!!

Trudi I know right about all the newbies. It is awesome but wow it's going to be hard to know who everyone is. Esp since we don't really come over here and chat like we did in the beginning. But it will be fun if everyone shows up and WOW the group meals and pics!!

This is Katy's last year with the cheer comp so not sure again how many meals and photos I will be able to do as the girls are actually staying with mom and I this time but I am still excited to go and of course the scavy hunt again and hopefully this time my stupid phone won't break. I missed the only group meal I had signed up for :(

Excited about the trip and getitng more details. Like scavy hunt theme and shirt design etc.!! :)

Good morning, ladies!

Ugh, how frustrating!! I'm sorry. That sucks. Feel free to vent away here anytime.

Start studying now. There will be a quiz!

:cheer2: ITS MY 100TH POST!! :cheer2:
Congrats!

What do people have planned for Mothers Day? About 10 of my family members are having lunch in the valley at a place called Barones. They have the best Italian food! Then we're going to my sisters house for dessert. Next year Sarah I really want to go to the Mothers Day brunch at the DL hotel. We told the family to start saving their money!

Good morning ladies!! :goodvibes

Had a wonderful and very busy trip to DL with my DDs and 4 of my grandchildren. Whew!! There were times when I had all 4 while the the DDs went on the bigger rides. 2 regular strollers and one humongous double stroller to watch. :faint: I just prayed that they would all stay happy. They did pretty well. Just had to make sure that snacks and toys were handy. :thumbsup2 It was busier than the crowd level said. I think it was because it rained on Monday, so everyone waited and came on Tuesday. Still it wasn't too bad. Radiator Springs, still as busy as ever! :(

On the way home, had a flat tire in the middle of nowhere just north of the bottom of the "Grapevine." Ugg! Thanks goodness for AAA.

Dawn, I am so sorry for the bad news. :sad2::flower3:

Lisa, been there, done that! Take care, and hoping everything gets better soon. :goodvibes

Hi Beth, our fearless ring leader! How are you?

So today, I need to get the final invite out for a big family reunion I am planning on in June. We already sent out save the date cards, but now I am getting hotel rooms blocked and so on arranged.
Call me stupid, but our kitchen will be getting done in the nick of time for the party. :hyper::hyper::hyper: :faint:
I really should have made it for next year, but my Dad is 89 years old, and if anything had happened to him in the meantime, I would have forever regretted not having it. So all of our guest will arrive, to a kitchen that is mostly done, but a front yard that will look quite messed up. We plan on making a huge change in the entrance "curb appeal" and will have to cut down trees, lay new side walk and planter. We also need to put new siding on, but there is no way we will have any time left for that I think. Money too..... LOL!
It is what it is and I know it will not matter to anyone, but it would have been nice to have it ALL done. It's more important that my Dad is in good health and can enjoy himself. ::yes::

I heard that Miss Sally's DH passed away. Does anyone here have her address so I can send her a card?

Another big welcome to our newbies!
:welcome:
I'm usually here responding a lot more, but my life is quite hectic at the moment. More than usual that is. Ha! :lmao:

Hoping all of my Diva lovelies are well and happy! :grouphug:

Oh and by the way, in case any of you are curious, we have a theme for the Scavenger hunt!!! :stir:

This is a rather long post for me....... popcorn::

LOL!:rotfl:

Yeah on a scavy theme!! I love when that stuff starts to come together!! I am assuming a Meet and Greet theme will be after that? It's always fun to know what to expect and what the gift exchange will be!!

Trudi that sounds like fun. I was supposed to spend the day with my mom but she has to work :(. It turns out now that she is working on father's day as well because it is the first Sunday after our trip. I feel bad because it would have been nice to spend those days with my parents. Up until last year we always did stuff as a family and that is when the divorce has been really hard. Holidays and such. Last year was my first since SHane and I split and wasn't a very good day and I ended up driving to Truckee because my parents were up there and I had lunch with mom overlooking the lake which was nice but didn't get to spend it with the girls which made me sad. This year Shane promised to take me and the girls to brunch so I am looking forward to that.

And then for father's day the girls, Shane and I are doing a 5K so it will be a nice day for the girls to spend with their dad and it's my first 5K eek!

Mel all your plans sound fun as always but exhausting. You have so much energy!!

Oh and by the way, in case any of you are curious, we have a theme for the Scavenger hunt!!! :stir:

Ohhhh -- i can't wait for more details to be shared!

Well -- we leave tomorrow -- starting to pack today!

We are flying out of SEA so we have to drive for 2.5 hours which sucks but the airfare was so much cheaper! By saving on airfare we are going to stay at the Disneyland Hotel.....:cheer2:

Hope there is some Mothers Day magic at the parks on Sunday -- we are doing the brunch at Storyteller's -- never been to that CM before so I hope our little one likes it!

Happy Mothers Day Everyone!

Hello, ladies!! TGIF!! :cool1:

What do people have planned for Mothers Day? About 10 of my family members are having lunch in the valley at a place called Barones. They have the best Italian food! Then we're going to my sisters house for dessert.
That sounds nice!
No special plans here. My mom is in Michigan and Ruben's mom is in California so we won't see either of them. Ruben works, so we won't be doing too much here. I did get my Mother's Day present from him and "the kids" already this week. He booked a night at my favorite place ever, the Quileute Oceanside Resort in La Push, WA.
I cannot wait to go back there. It's expensive for us. Around $240 a night, which is nothing for some of you, but for our family that is quite a splurge especially when we have 12 nights of other hotels to pay for. We got a two bedroom cabin so I'm excited and I hope the kids enjoy it.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and Happy Mother's Day!!

I just prayed that they would all stay happy. They did pretty well. Just had to make sure that snacks and toys were handy. :thumbsup2
Hello Miss Melody! Snack and toys would keep me happy. :thumbsup2 Sounds like you had a great trip other than it being a bit crowded and the flat tire. Glad to hear it.
And your family reunion sounds really nice. I think you are wise to do it sooner rather than wait. No regrets that way!

:ssst: Yes we do!!

More hints to come later this month!!
Oh, you do like to tease, don't you? ;)

Yeah on a scavy theme!! I love when that stuff starts to come together!! I am assuming a Meet and Greet theme will be after that? It's always fun to know what to expect and what the gift exchange will be!!
We are working on it....and, I do believe we finally have it narrowed down! But, you'll just have to wait.

Sounds like a fabulous time!! Enjoy!

Scavenger hunt theme already?? YAY!!! So exciting! I can't believe how fast this year is going by..............
Mother's Day will be me, Cass and Jade, I think we will go see Iron Man 3 (I saw it already with Micah) and maybe eat at Mimi's, I just can't decide if that's where I want to eat for sure. I mean, if I had my choice we'd go to Sac and eat at Joe's Crab Shack or PJ Chang's. LOL I might actually decide to take them to Old Sac and walk around there, eat at Joe's (I really want that Citrus Steam Pot! LOL) and then head back for the movie, I just don't know yet. lol

So, I was thinking of joing the Diva's. My problem is I am very shy and not so good at just joining in. So, I just don't know how I would fit in. Where does everybody stay? Any info would be great.:scared:

Thank you Kelly! I had no idea there were organizations that would help out - that is fantastic! I got lucky and my vet takes Care Credit so that gives me a year to pay without interest :thumbsup2 and I'm so so grateful!!

Dawn, I am so sorry for the bad news. :sad2::flower3:

Thank you Mel! I'm glad you had a great time with your grandkids - it sounds like a really fun trip. Depending on how things progress I'll be in Disneyland in 23 days!

I'm getting excited to see all the info on the meet and greet as well as the savenger hunt :cool1: It's all new to me so hopefully I'll be able to keep up.

Today was graduation day at ASU - and it is a zoo around here!! Such an exciting day - lots of hugs and congratulations - everyone is in a celebratory mood...love it!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Have a great weekend everyone! Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms in our group:flower3:
