DIS Divas Trip! (old thread, see first post for link to new one)

So, I was thinking of joing the Diva's. My problem is I am very shy and not so good at just joining in. So, I just don't know how I would fit in. Where does everybody stay? Any info would be great.:scared:

I'm new too! :flower:

I've only been posting and considering going for a couple of weeks now! It seems like a nice group of DIVA!

It looks like this year they are planning to stay at Grand California and people are bunking anywhere from 2-4 per room ~~ I don't have any roomies yet nor a reservation but have been assured that I will find roomies!

Hi Everyone! :wave2:

I read nearly half of this thread, and decided I'd love to join the DIVAS! You sound like such a fun group of DISNEY-LOVING women! I originally planned to go this year, but had a very long hospital stay which squashed that idea. 2014 will most certainly start with less fanfare.

If I read correctly, there will be posts listing food, photo, and ride meeting spots - is that right?

I look forward to meeting you all!

Thank you Kelly! I had no idea there were organizations that would help out - that is fantastic! I got lucky and my vet takes Care Credit so that gives me a year to pay without interest :thumbsup2 and I'm so so grateful!!

:
Actors and Others For Animals is an organization that helped me many times to have many of my cats fixed.

Eventually we discuss meals - where to eat -, group photo days and times, group rides etc. It can get crazy with everyone tossing out ideas but that's all in the fun of planning !

Oh, there will be much more than that! Sometimes we go for days without saying much, then we don't shut up! :dance3:

Hi Everyone! :wave2:

I read nearly half of this thread, and decided I'd love to join the DIVAS!

Welcome, ladies!! We'd love to have you join our group. The first page had a bunch of information for you to read through, and it should answer some of your questions. There are also some fun pics on there from the last trip.

Most importantly, don't be scared or shy! Everyone here is great, really welcoming and a lot of fun.

You'll be so happy you took the leap and joined in!

Looking forward to getting to know you both. If you'd like, feel free to tell us more about yourselves. We'd love to hear it. :goodvibes

Good morning, everyone! Happy Saturday!

It's already feeling like a warm one here. It's going to be 93 today with a "real feel" of 99! :faint: We were so spoiled the earlier part of the week with temps in the low 70's. Alas, I think we've seen the last of those until next October. We'll only be going up from here.

Anyway, hope you all have a great day. :)

Do you all realize that we still have 9 1/2 months to go and there are 99 people on the attendee list?!?! I am sorry to say that a bunch of the names are not familiar so I look forward to meeting all these new divas! Also, there are a bunch of multiples...same names. Now that's going to be fun to keep straight! I may just start going around saying "hey you diva!" Only you have to hear it in your head as the sloth guy from Goonies!
Later!

This list is getting longer and longer and longer. Pretty amazing.

I have never seen the movie, Goonies. tried watching it with my DD when she was about 6 and it was "too scary". Really?

Thanks, AmyOkraGirlScoutCookieSue!

OMG. I think "Re-fi" is Satan speak for the worst form of torture your mind can conjure. The last 48 hours have made me appreciate WINE, anti-acids, advil, wine, tequila, potato chips, take out food, wine, and the thought of once again going to Disney. I have jumped thru more flaming hoops of BS in the last week than anyone should. I've sold stock. I've been on the phone with my bank more times in the last week than in the last 10 years. I've driven all over tarnation delivering payments and getting signatures and fed-exing documents. What really frosts my buns is that if we had stopped paying our mortgage 3 months ago, we would be fast tracked to a dedicated loan specialist who would be on call 24/7 and we would just be out getting manicures and getting our pimp mobiles detailed. But since we cut off a cell phone, stopped having the neighbor kid cut our lawn (we don't own a mower), are eating crap for food, haven't sent a gift to anyone for Christmas, birthday, wedding since September, so that we can keep paying our mortgage on time, we are scum. Sorry. I don't go off like this too often, but this is really stressing me out. In the meantime, my sister is pissed because I don't have the money to help her hire some guy to do a $2k makeover on my mother's yard for mother's day. Um, what happened to cards and flowers? I send a card and either flowers or a gift card every year. Always have. Now I am supposed to cough up $1k to re landscape her yard? Kill me now. Truly.

Sorry. I really try not to be a Debbie Downer, but I'm at a snapping point. Thanks for giving me a pillow to scream into (cue Lilo).....

Holy Moly Lisa. Our experience was easy. or maybe it seemed easy since my DH did all of that. We did have to have our house inspected twice since we did not have a carbon monoxide monitor. We did at one time, but during a painting frenzy, it was stashed somewhere.
:cheer2: ITS MY 100TH POST!! :cheer2:

Had to share in this thread cause I am really really looking forward to my first DIVA trip!
I have never been away by myself for FUN....work, yes but its not the same!

Good Night Ladies! princess:

Better get cracking on the posting if you want to measure up to our fearless leader!!!

Well, I am kind of the opposite of shy, so stand by me, and you never have to talk or anything. I can do it for the both of us. But, everyone fits in. Now that there are 9 million of us, I am sure there is some one just waiting to be your new best friend.;)

Nice day here is San Diego. Getting stupid stuff done, cleaning bird cages, fixing the drawer in the kitchen that fell apart...that kind of day. I actually like when I knock out projects right and left. Makes me cheery.

Later today, actually going to leave the house. for reals.

Oh, and newbies....hellllloooooooo. Make sure you read back and find out all about the need for the color orange and AmyOkraSue'sDamnSkippyPubCrawl.

Oh. My. So many new people! I failed at learning everyone's names at the last one, gonna be a miserable failure this time. Thank Bob for nametags!

Happy Saturday! I finally have a whole weekend with no responsibilities and am not so incredibly exhausted that I just spend the whole time sleeping. This morning was the UW Bothell Husky 5k which I ran with my older sister. It was awesome, and the breakfast after was even better. I got home around 10:30 and totally did nap for about 2 hours, but it wasn't a coma type nap, it was just nice.

The rest of the weekend will be spent doing some housework and relaxing with my kiddos. Tomorrow morning we are going to see Iron Man 3 and then go to lunch. Happy Mother's Day to all of the moms here, have an awesome day.

Eventually we discuss meals - where to eat -, group photo days and times, group rides etc. It can get crazy with everyone tossing out ideas but that's all in the fun of planning !

I can see ideas toss around quickly! Just for the record, I'm fine with any color shirt :thumbsup2

I can't wait to hear more!

Let's see, I'm a disabled mom of 2 (now adult) children. I spend a little time each week volunteering for a women's crisis center and when I'm at home I spend time writing.

Of course I'm a HUGE Disney fan, taking the kids at least once a year since they were very little. We love DLR, and never pass up the chance to go and act like kids! :cool1:

I live in rural Oregon. My youngest daughter is in college and will be moving out in a couple of years, so I feared my yearly Disney trips were coming to an end. When I found out about the DIS Divas, I thought it was an opportunity to meet new people and keep my Disney tradition alive.

That's it in a nutshell! I can't wait to meet everyone!

Oh no, the Disney trips should NEVER end. Even if I hadn't found the Divas I'd totally still go alone when my kids are out. Heck, I went alone last year on my birthday. I really wish I could do that again this year.

Jessica bought me an orange bracelet for Mother's Day ...... Does that count??:rotfl2:

Of course!! :cool1:

We've been visiting DL since 1958 (i was the kid back then :rotfl: )and WDW since '81 with my children...of course, I am older than dirt now and have a little granddaughter - looking forward to our first trip!!:cool1:

Kudos to going solo!! ::yes::

I would be miserable alone; partly because my son is in heaven now and those memories would be too much to handle solo....but also because I just love sharing Disney with family and friends. I go with the flow because other than thrill attractions, I enjoy everything!

Happy Mother's Day to all our mom Divas - Furbaby moms too!!

I was 19 when I went to DL the first tine :(. My parents took us on day, and a few week that were for them but I guess that is the way it should be. Not getting to DL until I was older did not hurt me in any way, well unless you count that being the start of my love for DL and WDW.

I also can not do some of my favorite attractions like all the mountains at DL and the water raft at DCA. Yes no Cars for me either. I sure have a fun time doing everything else that DL and DCA have to offer. I end up having such a good time I forget to eat. :(. I am so happy the Divas plan meal time. I look forward to enjoying a few of the restaurants I hate going to alone. When the family goes I end up being the child care provider so daughter and son-in-law can go to dinners at Napa Rose, a couple of the restaurants at the garden walk, one or two at DD. At the end of the day I am sure I had more fun with the grandkids lol and it was a lot cheaper. They did bring back some "Bark Bark" bags so not all was lost.

You probably noticed I am a grandma to. I am older on paper and not sure who that older lady is that always looks back at me when I look at the mirror. I feel 19 again in my mind and am so excited to be visiting DL.

I am looking forward to meeting everyone.

Of course!! :cool1:

Hi everyone,

I just found this thread and would love to join everyone for the Diva Weekend. It looks like tons of fun with a terrific group of women.

My name is Dee Dee and I live in Northern California. I am married to a wonderful man (who is not much of a Disney fan.) I am grateful that my daughter, Liz is as enthusiastic about DL as I am and we try to take a trip at least once a year.

Things I enjoy doing at Disneyland/DCA: soaking up the Disney atmosphere, pin trading (for Liz's collection), having a glass of wine at Uva Bar or a cocktail at Trader Sams, people watching. Favorite attractions; POC and Haunted Mansion.

Disney-super-mom....I sent you a Facebook request.

Looking forward to the weekend!!

Thanks, AmyOkraGirlScoutCookieSue!

Lisa - I'm so sorry the re-fi is such a headache. You would think companies would have it down by now given how many have been done in the past couple of years. Then the sister thing to top it off - I'd be ready to snap too! I'm also sorry your husband didn't get either of the jobs he was interviewing for. I'll keep my fingers crossed and positive vibes going your way - I hope something comes up soon! :flower3:

Welcome! I'm new too - only been part of this group for a couple months. It is a great group!

UGHH!! it is supposed to be 100/101 all week - summer is here and there's no turning back...:sad2:

Aww....Maxine is adorable!!! Thank you so much for posting a photo...and it is good to see her pretty mama too!

:welcome: DeeDee! This will my first Diva trip, although I wanted to join them a couple of years ago, it didn't work out. Very excited this year and I have a fabulous roomie who is a dear friend.

So happy you'll joining us too. :)

I know exactly what you mean about looking in the mirror and wondering who that older lady is looking back!

Looking forward to meeting another grandma! :goodvibes

Can't wait to meet you and Minnie. I totally agree with you! I am north of 50, no grandchildren yet, but honestly, I don't feel my age at all. It is a state of mind...instead of a state of body. When I look in the mirror I don't see the crows feet and wrinkles, go figure.

Some years ago we were in line for Splash Mountain, there were two couples who had to be at least 75 - 80 just ahead of us. Both ladies put on their oldy-timey rain hats (the ones that fold up like accordions) and climbed on the ride with their husbands. They obviously had been on the attraction before. I turned to my then teenaged daughter and said "You are NEVER too old to enjoy Disneyland.

Minnie...thank you for the welcome.
