Lisa - does Laurie or Sha have Megs cell phone#, I know I gave you mine.

Sha - fri or sat. I will talk to Laurie tonight

Pats mom - we are thinking sat at illuminations, will that work for you?

100 things still to do. I ordered myself a wheelchair for the week after my resort wheelchair misadventures the last time.

Will pop in when dh is on the internet.

GTAGWTA.

Saturday at Illuminations would be great! I have your number and Laurie's. We are already planning Epcot for Saturday after arrival since we can walk there from the Beach Club. We have ADR's at Biergarten but otherwise the entire night is open with no definite plans other than we like to see Illuminations. I saw your post on the Disabilities board about getting a wide wheelchair so that will help finding you! I will be carrying a maroon paisley Vera Bradley knock off backpack with a button that says Bladder Cancer Sucks and a small ribbon pin saying Survivor. And I am short, short brown hair and need to drop a few pounds.

I am so looking forward to meeting you ladies in person!

Hi-hope its ok if I ask a question or two here!
The past 6 weeks has been a whirlwind in our house. My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer and has a mastectomy on one breast and a lumpectomy on the other. She is 82 years old and came through the surgery with no problem-she was walking around the hospital just hours after her surgery (and sleepwalking aroud it the whole night too LOL!)
She felt much better the first 10 days after surgery than she does now- now she has much more pain that she did-is that normal and how long until that goes away?
The hospital was so nice- the breast center gave her this nice bag filled with movie tickets, a gift cert for a facial, a gift cert for a make over, candles, candy, books and other things. The day after her sugery the breast people came to her room and brought her two camisoles to wear until she gets fitted for her new bras-how long until you feel comfortable enough to wear these new bras?
The day after she was diagnosed my daughter decided that we needed to do relay for life so we have a team formed and they kids are making our team banner---pink with hands all over it that say "helping hands for breast cancer". In each hand each team member is going to write the name oftheir loved one in there either in memory of or in honor of. My daughter is looking so forward to her grandmother walking around in that survivors lap!

First off, I'm not all that knowledgeable. But I just wanted to say I'm glad your mother handled the surgery well and is on the mend. I hope she has a speedy recovery.

I wouldn't think your mother would have much more pain 10 days out. But I don't know. You might want to call the doctor's office and ask a few questions about the pain. They may want to see her. The questions they probably would ask are; has she been running any fevers, does she have any discharge from the site, any unusual swelling or bleeding (things I'm sure your mother is on top of). I think it would be a good thing to be seen.

Hope things improve for your mother soon.

MaryAnn - I gave Meg your cell number. She is working 3:15 to close today, is off on Saturday and working Sunday, but I'm not sure of her hours. If you text her, she will give you more info. She's funny about my giving her number out, so she should answer you if you text her since she has your number.

Have a great trip!

Thank you for all the ideas! I emailed my family to see if they would want to get together on a care package. I am also trying to enlist my mother in law who makes the most amazing quilts. If you have any other ideas, I would love to hear it. I am organizing a team for the Komen 5k here in her honor and her sister who lives nearby may participate.

Good morning from OKW! Had a lovely time meeting up with LMP, her DH and Snappy! Pics were taken. Slept in some this morning and we dont know where we are going... LOL breakfast first though!

have a great day everyone.

I'm glad you're having such a good time! Meg told me that she met you on her way to her dinner break. Her trainer commented that Meg is her most popular trainee. She's already had two people ask for her after only working the ride for a few weeks lol.

I like your comment about Laurie being the Energizer Bunny. My friends who were with us on my trip last week were amazed that I was still standing by 5 o'clock because they were worn out. I told them they better not go with me when I'm 100% or they won't last until lunch time!

Hope the rest of your trip is as good as the first part. Enjoy Beach Club.:)

Labs today and my special diet since I have a PETscan tomorrow. Chemo and the doc on Thursday and Friday. I liked last week much better.

I am glad you all are having a good time and meeting up! I can't wait to see pictures.

I have a PET scan on Thursday, Lisa a day after you. My Labs look great but I haven't had one in about a year. I hope all goes well with the scan and your treatment.

PNM I thought you were in Disney too! My mind is not so great. How's the pool?

I am crazy busy with the party planning and working 2nd job. I am exhausted. I had a scare that we weren't going to be able to have vendors but now I got my permit for my 3 vendors. I am going to have cotton candy, charactures (sp) and DJ. I am getting there.

Am glad you got to have Patricia... and enjoyed tea! One of my favorite things. Was Saturday a good day?? I hope it was. Sorry we didn't get to meet up again, but we were moving slow and evidently it helped. I was told I looked more relaxed today.

Thank you for the kind words LMP! It was a pleasure to meet you and DH. Hope to do it again.

Got to watch those animatronics at IASW.... they bit your hand pretty bad. (anyone who has read KK will get that)

Thanks- took her to Dr today and she has a hemotomia (sp?) in the area they did surgery so it is very sore. They are checking it again in ten days and if it doesn't go down they will have to do something. I am taking her to oncologist on thursday to see if they want to do any other treatments.

I'm glad you took her to see the doctor. I bet it is sore! Poor thing. I hope it resolves itself without any intervention. Keep us posted on her treatment plan. It would be so nice if the surgery took care of everything. I hope it did.

I hope everyone is having a good day. :)

April- Did the Doctors say what can be done to help the pain with the hematoma? My Mom had one after a car accident she was in and had to have surgery for it. It was a while ago and I don't remember specifics. I know she is glad to have you with her. It helps when you have someone you love with you.

Annie: How are you feeling? Getting stronger?

Lisa: Thinking of you.

GTAGWTA.

Hi Candy, I'm doing okay. Thanks. The area healed and I'm still reading a lot. :) I'm trying to change my diet and I've been thinking about exercise. Time and making it fit in.

I hope things are going well for you.

Hi there! After my surgery, the area swelled up so badly, it was very painful! it was all fluid and blood building up. I'm not sure why they don't put drains in surgical sites all the time now, but I wish they had with me. I ended up having to have it drained out twice. The first time was just in the office, she used a syringe and just kept changing the big end on it as it filled, she took out about 4 oz. of fluid. But then I had it done in the hospital and they used the ultrasound to guide the drainage to get all the pockets, that time they got about 8 oz. and what a relief it was!! it did not come back after that. So hopefully, if she's still in pain they can do this for her.

I am also posting from WDW. Been a great trip but terribly hot! I did manage to meet luvmarypoppins and Snappy for illuminations. It was wonderful to meet them! Also ran into Laurie at the Studios today. Hard to type on my phone but I am thinking of all of you!

They did try to put a needle in and draw out fluid but couldn't get any in the site- its hurting a bit less as the days are going now.
We saw the oncologist yesterday and got really good news-the cancer was contained in the milk duct and did not break through the membrane so she will not need chemo or radiation and they don't even want her to take anything like tamoxifin (sp?) so basically that part is over. I am going to take her in 3 weeks to get fitted for a prosthesis- she doesn't even like going out at this point because she feels that she looks weird and she can't even put the pad things in the camisole that they gave her yet because she is still a bit to sore for that.
Last week was a tough one-she handled it great up until then but last week she was a crying mess-the stress of waiting to talk to the oncologist didn't help matters as she was convinced he was going to tell her something bad.

I am so sorry. :( The waiting is hard and stressful. It sounds like your mom has been through it with the pain and the stress.

She did get great news. Nice to hear! It does seem like the worst of it is behind her. That has to be a huge relief. I'm sure she is taking it one day at a time. It will get better.

Thanks for the update.

Got back late Friday night.

I am really glad I have 3 days to recover from this trip. I kept pretty active despite the heat.

I tried to post once from my iphone but got frustrated. Then I realized Thursday night that there were computers in the business center in the lobby of my building at Wyndham Bonnet Creek. I was too busy having fun all week to figure that out earlier.

I had a great trip, although as Patsmom said it was very hot. I spent several hours in the lazy rivers at the Hilton Bonnect Creek and the Wyndham Bonnet Creek every day except the first.

MaryAnn and I were able to find Meg on Saturday night before we met up with Sha and her mom and niece.

Will post pictures when I can
