Hi ladies. I'm here via DH's laptop. My computer is very, very sick. Might not see me around much in the near future. I'll be checking in during the day when he's not around to "hog" his computer. ;)

I'm thinking of and praying for you all. GAGWTA!

Merry, just an idea - you might be able to find a good deal on a used computer on Craigslist. I bought one for DS that way a year or so ago and it's been great. I'm also looking for another for DD who's (really old) computer is also just about gone. Listings are added daily. Good luck.

That's a thought. DH probably wouldn't like what he would find, though. He's in IT and he's picky about his computers. Although he has been known to crack open the box and make creative changes. It' might be worth a look.

I think he's still planning to play around with mine. He's run lots of tests and mostly it seems to okay... at least as far at the tests go. It's just obvious that it's sicker than it looks. I'm mostly just nervous about all my photos, etc.

I'm mostly just nervous about all my photos

There have been many threads on that subject on the Photography Board. Get them to disc asap. I lost a whole bunch of photos I was working on right after a big trip when the computer crashed. Fortunately, some of them we were able to recover, but a lot of them are messed up, with lines going through them and other distortions.

I take so many pictures (literally hundreds a month) that it gets hard to weed through them and get them to disc, but it is something we try to keep up with. I bought some of those big CD albums so we can keep them numerically ordered and find what we're looking for easily. Before that we had them in a box and it was hard to find anything. I'd like to get them their own fireproof safe someday - it's on my To Do list.

We got the sad news that Wendy passed away on Thursday. Her funeral will be on Sat. I won't be home, but thankfully hubby will be able to go with some of the other guys. Cancer is horrible...

We had a great visit with hubby's friend. He's quite a character, full of stories...really cool guy!

I am so excited for our trip! It's scorching hot here and the kids go to school for 1/2 days today and tomorrow, then we leave!

:tinker: See ya real soon!!!!!
:grouphug:

I'm sorry to hear about Wendy! I think I was getting everyone's friends confused. So a big blanket of good wishes for families, friends, and patients who are going through diagnosis and treatment, and also for those who have recently lost a loved one! :wizard: :wizard:

Laura, have an amazing trip!!

Denine, I am big on worrying. I work out every possible scenario and worry about each and every potential outcome because I never want to admit that there is an angle I haven't already thought about. Of course no good comes from that, but it keeps me busy! :rolleyes1 I am crummy at waiting, too. We are all wishing the best for your biopsy results!!

Merry - Sorry about your computer! Ours is barely a year old and I am already seeing changes in it's behavior that can't be good. :headache: Hopefully your DH can get it running properly!

I haven't heard from Mom. Her appointment for the extractions was 10 AM, so I guess I should phone and see how she is (and what exactly she had done!).

So Mom had those extractions done AND she had some bony calcifications scraped off so she could be fitted for a partial denture of some sort. She sounded completely whacked out on pain meds when I spoke to her. She has NOT spoken to her breast surgeon because "It will be healed by next week." :headache: She is not taking antibiotics at all - they just prescribed pain meds. I don't think this is going to turn out well.

jackskellingtonsgirl,

I hope you are wrong about it not going to turn out well. She must really be in denial about the whole thing. She just is not making good choices.

You have done all you can. When you are not in control you have to let it go. Your being there after the surgery is all you can do.

Isn't the surgery on the 16th?

We take external backups fairly often. Hopefully the ones I haven't saved won't be lost. DH is afraid it could be my hard drive. Darn.

JSG, I'll cross my fingers that she's all healed up next week.

GAGWTA! Hugs and prayers to all that need them.

I'm proud to say on Thursday I will be attending an event at my hospital.
CANCER SURVIVORS DAY! I AM a survivor.

I can't tell you how good that feels to say, although some of your probably know. I'll make sure to keep you in my thoughts Thursday, as we all need to stick together and show our support!

GAGWTA,
Sonya.

Hi everyone...I just got back from the hospital...my mom was admitted for atrial fibrilation(SP?) and a possible blood clot...I am so worried. She has been having a tough time the past few days and FINALLY went to the hospital today. She was awake and eating when I left so I am trying not to worry....:scared1: :worried:

Pre-op is the 16th, her actual surgery is scheduled for the 17th. Letting it go is not my strong suit. ;) I hope they can do the surgery as planned. She is supposed to go back to work August 12, and she doesn't have any short term disability coverage. She also (from what I understand) can't use her sick days unless she works at least one day of the new school year first. If her surgery is delayed from her escapades at the dentist that may put a serious crimp in her plans to return to work. But she doesn't listen to me. :rolleyes1

That's wonderful! I am so happy for you!! :goodvibes

My dad had afib episodes years ago. What ended up being crucial was getting the right doctor to control his condition (he had congestive heart failure but also suffered the afib, even vfib once on a cruise, a number of times).

I imagine treatment and meds have been improved vastly since the 90's.
Is your mom in cardiac icu?

I am praying for your mom.

Also, jackskellingtonsgirl's mom. Praying for both.

Laurie

Thanks for all your well wishes. She is on the cardiac floor but not in ICU. She had a bunch of scans, etc. Is waiting on results. More later, gotta get back to work.

lookingfoward: I hope everything turns out all right.

jackskellingtonsgirl: I hope this doesn't backfire for your mom. DH is usually the worrier in our family. I usually go with my gut feeling. It is right most of the time. I am hoping I am not right this time.

I am feeling better today. I just want this biopsy to be over with so I know what is going on.

Thanks for all the good thoughts for Mom! She claims the dentist said it would be OK, but the dentist is NOT the one I would have chosen to consult.

Lookingforward - More good thoughts for your mom!! :wizard:

Denine - I know this week must be dragging for you!

Linda, I am doing better, thanks for asking. The weekend was a little rough. No nausea, but a new side effect each day (but thankfully, one at a time, not together). I don't know if the heat has something to do with it or these are actual symptoms, so this has been a little tough. I have spent the last three days in the bathroom. Some days there is too much, and some days for too little, LOL. I went for my follow-up today and my WBC count is GREAT as well as my hemoglobin. Doc says that the first tx is usually the worst (?) so I shouldn't expect the next three to be too different.

Hmm...what do you all think?
Stay cool. Be well!!

Dawn

I hope your mom is doing ok, Maureen. Please keep us updated.

My biopsy is in the morning. I have pretty much resigned myself to accept whatever the results are. Now, I have to wait until next week to find out. I don't know which is worse, waiting for the biopsy or the results.

Just trying to keep busy.

Lookingforward, hope we have good news about your mom soon. I'm praying for her recovery.

So sorry to hear about Wendy.

Dawn, hang in there. Sounds like overall, you're doing okay.

Denine, I'm also thinking of you. Waiting is the worst part.

Things are going well for me. We're in the second week of both kids gone to camp and the quiet is getting to me. Remind me of this when DD is home and driving me up the wall, please. We're getting a lot of painting done in spite of the fact that DH was sick the first week. Now we're making up for lost time. I'm going to get up on a ladder and finish the stenciled vine I started in the dining room. It's going to be lovely, but I hate ladders with a passion.
