Dis 10th Anniversary mention - July 2016

What is the weather like at that time of the year? As far as I have experienced, it started to get pretty hot by April....

We go often during that week of July. In 2014 it was mid to upper 90s with humidity in the 100s. We didn't mind it that much except for the one day we were sitting watching the parade and just dripping in sweat otherwise it was ok.

Weather shouldn't be a factor. Anyone on these boards knows it will be hot, humid, and rain around 2:00 pm for 30 minutes. We are planning our July trip (the 23rd time we've gone in July or August). You can't go commando style, but it can still be a great trip.

I am in a holding pattern here. We were planning July 17-27th anyway, but I'd love a firm conformation as I would make changes just for a Dis event. I look at the 180 day window as a deadline to get the restaurants we want. Hopefully Kevin has something as soon as they come back. We missed food and wine twice by a day or two, missed the closing dates of both Pirates for repair, and Maelstrom for good, and left the first night of MNSSH one year. If I miss a podcast event that I could actually attend I will cry until my wife feeds me Glen Livet on the plane. I would hate reading about the podcast on my ride on the tragical express to the airport.

Pete has firmed up that the dates are accurate, they just haven't firmed up exactly what it happening on each day.

Also, we thought maybe we could move the trip to coincide, but the caveat would be that we go to WWE Summer Slam, wherever it may be next year, but that's the end of August, not the end of July

AND I also would love to be there for my 30th birthday (October 23rd) however, my darling husband couldn't possibly miss a couple games of cricket so early in the season (he is captain and coach) even though I've personally spoken with committee members, and they told me he is insane for imposing such a rule on himself... but also (don't laugh at me) the DIS crew will be starting their Backstage Magic on my 30th (don't even start on how much I wish I could afford THAT for my 30th!!!), so any chances of meeting any of them (by chance in the parks, or if I can convince some of them that I'm not a crazy stalker and to meet me for drinks at say.. Trader Sam's) are slim to nil.

I'd still be careful about making firm travel plans. As @DisneyKevin stated in post #80 on this thread, there is still much to be worked out.

I agree, however, I feel like that post was written a few days before Pete mentioned it on the show? My memory isn't the greatest, but I thought Pete's comments were in relation to this thread and Kevin's comments?

Word of caution when making plans. From experience, I would not confirm anything. We went to Disapalooza this year. (Was wonderful, tyvm) but we made plans to attend the live podcast the following day. We were told on multiple podcasts that it would happen. We made plans accordingly, spending more for airfare, etc. Not cheap coming from WA. Then they announced on November 10th that they would not be having one after all.

I know things happen, I don't blame the crew, but I would never make confirmed plans for a tentative event again.

I envision Pete and John as the Walt and Roy of the DIS. Pete dreams big, but John sets things in motion.

We hope to come again this summer, but we will not be booking flights until we hear from John.

Lots of things can and do happen in a 7 month period....especially when dealing with Disney.

Been doing this a long time.

If I don't book airfare from the Chicago area in the next couple of weeks, it's going to be too expensive for me. So, I might have to just book it for that time period and hope for the best.
