looks like i'm getting $5.00 off my bill for 2 months. i asked for 3, but the rep said it wasn't available for 3 months.
DirecTV is giving a $5 per month credit for the next 3 months. You need to call them though
I'm bummed that TV Land is gone as I love me some Dick Van Dyke. Other than that, I can survive. I'd rather do without the channels and not have my rates go up rather than pay more for the channels which I might watch a total of 1 hour of each week. I guess we will see what happens.![]()
UPDATE:
Things have gone from bad to worse as Viacom pulls all media off the internet:

And that seems to be how the game is played right now... The media companies want all-or-nothing so that people are stuck paying for very niche channels that few ever watch (LOGO anyone? A channel designed for a demographic that by most estimates accounts for <10% of the population).
This makes Viacom look like (for the lack of a better word) TURDS! I am glad Directv is holding their ground.
My kids have enough iCarly and victorious episodes DVR'd to keep them happy when they get bored with Disney or a movie.
However, this needs to be resolved by next week when Colbert comes back from vacation! How will I get my election coverage without Comedy Central?![]()
AMC has some very good shows with very devoted followings though so the fuss is still loud even if on a smaller scale.I think DirecTV/Viacom will get more play because of the popularity of Nick vs. the popularity of AMC.
Dish has given us Encore too. They seem to be doing the same things.DrecTV announced on twitter that all customers will be given the Encore package of channels free of charge through the end of July.
If Direct Tv was like Dish, they might have been going on about how people didn't need the Viacom channels and could just watch their shows online. I imagine that you'd get tired of someone you're in a dispute with instructing people on how to quit spending money on your product.UPDATE:

I think that they are both trying to force their agenda. We were about to switch to Direct TV but I want to see how this goes first.DirectTV did advise customers what they might be able to watch online. Viacom shut it all down. That makes me extra disgusted with Viacom when something they always allowed for free online they then shut down to try to force their agenda.

Never said they didn't. My point is pulling Nick off will affect more people than pulling AMC. In fact, according to tvbythenumbers, Nick had almost three times the total day viewers than AMC.AMC has some very good shows with very devoted followings though so the fuss is still loud even if on a smaller scale.
