DirecTV and Viacom? Let's make a deal

First, I think Viacom is making a mistake in trying to require an additional channel as part of these negotiations.

Second, I think BOTH sides should not disclose particulars about the negotiations.

I agree with the first (obviously ;) ). The second I see both sides of..I think Direct (and Viacom) want consumers to know they are making an effort/trying to resolve things (and I do appreciate that) because people are wondering where things are at/if progress is being made.

Unfortunately though it turns into "no they are lying" or "that isn't right" and that's annoying. Each side of course wants to look positive and that results in finger pointing and such at the other..that sucks.

Then we agree on both. It's "nice" they're trying to let the public know what's going on, but (IMO), the negatives of the finger pointing/pumping up their own image outweigh the positives.

Yep..honestly there is no reason they can't make a joint release or something that lays out the basics without it being about one image vs the other.
