Directions

Trying to find my directions, but can't seem to locate them. I thought we got off I-4 W from Orlando at MK exit and followed MK signs through the right parking sections and followed the road to the right to FW on left, but all my driving directions (google and Mapquest) have me going another way that seems to go in the back way. Is that a better way or can someone point me to the best way to get to the fort?

I noticed that on my directions also. I looked it up and found out that the map services recommend the fastest routes and not necessarily the shortest ones. From what I understand, I4 gets really congested at the ramps so it has me going on a toll road instead. My directions for the way back home have me taking the I4 though. Hope this helps.

If you are coming down the Turnpike to Orlando you might want to take the new Western Way route which is direct to WDW with light traffic and will save a lot of time. I believe it is the 429 cutoff and freeway all the way to Disney..

Directions to WDW/Ft. Wilderness from I-75

I-75 S

Get off at exit 328 (approximately 140 miles from Georgia/Florida State Line, approximately 107 miles from I-10)

Travel on Florida Turnpike to Exit 267A (429S) (approximately 42 miles)

Travel on 429S to Exit 8 (Disney World/Hartzog Rd) (approximately 14 miles)

This road will take you to West Buena Vista Dr near Coronado Springs.

Turn right if going to All-Stars or Animal Kingdom Lodge, turn left if going anywhere else, then follow the Disney signs to your destination.

Turn left from West Buena Vista to World Drive, then go through the toll booth in the farthest right lane for visitors, then watch for the buses and make an almost IMMEDIATE right, then turn left into Fort Wilderness at the first sign.

I take a slightly different route. It is a bit further, but it is easier than dodging buses at the MK toll plaza IMO:

I-75 S

Travel on 429S to Exit 8 (Disney World/Hartzog Rd) (approximately 14 miles)

Turn left from West Buena Vista to World Drive, travel 2.6 mi.

Just past Downtown Disney you will cross over an overpass. Take the next left, Bonnet Creek Pkwy.

In 1.5 mi. Bonnet Creek will dead end into Vista Blvd. Take a left.

Fort Wilderness will be on the right in a 9/10 mile.
