Ok, another question I know... but as soon as I get it all figured out I can sit back and relax some and start to get excited about the whole trip!

We will be driving form Vegas to Disney Land and I have read on here that it will take 3.5-4.5 hours. I map-quested it and it says just over 4 hours.

But I am wondering how it would be if we took I-95 down. Map quest says it only takes 10 minutes more (we will be leaving the Dam that day) going down 95 instead of going back towards Vegas first.

How is that road? I would guess it's a smaller highway and probably a little slower, but is it an ok drive?

Open for suggestions here!

Thanks!

95 is the road that the Hoover Dam is off of, but you'll have to get on the 15 (or take the 215 to the 15) to go to Southern California. I live in Henderson right off the 95 and take it every day. If you go to the dam, you will have to backtrack and then get back on the 15 to go to SoCal. If you have any questions about traffic or whatnot at various times of the day, feel free to pm me. 95 goes south back into Arizona and north towards northern Nevada/Utah.

I'm a little surprise it's only 10 minutes different. 95 has a speed limit of 70mph so it's not slow by any means. Hoover Dam is really close to LV.

I think it has to be much faster going back to LV and down I-15. In Barstow I-40 and I-15 merge together with Us95 they form a right trianlge and 15 is the hypotenuse. A square + B squared = C squared.

My bad, I forgot about where 95 forks off just before Boulder City. I haven't lived here my whole life, only four years, lol.

You DO NOT want to go that way unless you like it nice and desolate. 10 minutes my foot. Backtrack like I said as that's what any Las Vegas local would do.

I thought about it later, I know it's not I 95... not sure why I put that.

Yes, on mapquest it we did it both ways, back tracking and just taking 95. On the time there was only a 10 minute difference. We wondered about this too... that is why I posted the question on here.

I don't want to be lost somewhere with out phone service! Or broke down... So we will plan on heading back to the "big road." lol

Thanks!

No, you were right, I was wrong. The 95 forks off before the dam and is also called "Veterans Memorial Highway". I had to have a look at the map after my first post, lol.

I would not do it, I'd stick to the 15. There is literally nothing on the 95 for many miles where you fork off before Boulder City.
