We are driving down from Atlanta and will take 75 South to the turnpike to the world. We are meeting up with my cousin for a short visit before we get to the resort. He lives in Lakeland and would like to meet us half way from Lakeland to WDW. He's not really sure where to meet.

Any suggestions or driving directions that might be the shortest route possible?

All ideas are most welcome!!

THANKS!!!!!

P.S. What is Highway 27? Looking on mapquest I see that maybe we could take the turnpike to 27 but the turnpike doesn't actually have an exit there - at least on the mapquest map - and then 27 would run into I-4 and it looks to be a halfway mark but I am not familiar with this highway. I know some "highways" are traffic light after traffic light and obviously, that wouldn't be good if it's the case.

Thanks.

27 is a general north-south.

Better, miss the turnpike interchange with 27 (it exists, north of WDW). Continuing east on the turnpike get on 429 south to Tampa. About 12 miles down 429 get off at the Disney/Hartzog interchange and head east (don't know whether this is a left or a right at the bottom of the ram whose shape I don'[t know). Note: If you do not have a Sunpass or E-pass (not EZ) or O-pass transponder you must use the toll booths on a ramp off to the right side.

Entering Disney on this new Western Way you get to Buena Vista near Blizzard Beach. Take a left and follow the 192 signs. You will be taking aright onto World Drive which is the main Disney noth-south. Cross over 192 and it takes you to I-4. You will see the I-4 Rte 27 interchange halfway between DIsney and Lakeland if that is where you want to meet.

(Soon you could stay right on 429 down to I-4 without getting off at Hartzog and going through Disney. Don't try this unless someone corrects me further on in this thread otherwise you have to jog left on 192 to I-4 or jog right on 192 to 27 hitting lots of lights.)

Any divided non-limited access road is probably full of traffic lights. Too bad AAA and other map makers don't mark the locations of traffic lights and also provide mile totals between interstate/interstate interchanges so you don't have to add up all the little mileage numbers between every interchange.
